Avengers Crown Their New 'Iron Man' by Making Him the Team's Official Tech Expert
Adrian Pasdar, Bumper Robinson, Fred Tatasciore, Travis Willingham, Laura Bailey, Troy Baker, and Roger Craig Smith in Avengers Assemble (2012)
Warning: Contains Spoilers for Avengers Assemble #1! Tony Stark is an integral member of the Avengers, not just because hes a founding member or that hes the immensely powerful superhero Iron Man, but because hes the teams resident tech expert. The Avengers is perhaps the most high-tech team on the planet (minus the Fantastic Four), and thats solely due to Tony Stark. But now, the Avengers crowns a new Tony Stark by making a lesser-known hero the teams official tech expert.

In Avengers Assemble #1 by Steve Orlando and Cory Smith, a separate team of Avengers led by Steve Rogers are gathering at the Avengers Mansion, serving as a secondary team to the flagship Avengers squad. In the current Avengers comic, Carol Danvers leads the main team, with members including Thor, Sam Wilson, Tony Stark, TChalla, Wanda Maximoff, and Vision. While the Avengers in Avengers Assemble are still Earths Mightiest Heroes, they...

One Prospective Kang Replacement Reveals the Obscure Superhero He'd Rather Play in the MCU
Image
Marvel Studios is still on the hunt for a new actor to portray Kang the Conqueror, the big bad of The Multiverse Saga. Unfortunately for the studio, one potential replacement for Jonathan Majors, Them star Luke James, has taken himself out of the running.

In an interview with The Direct, James shared that, despite some interest from the Marvel Cinematic Universe fandom, he had no interest in replacing Majors as Kang the Conqueror, although he would consider joining the franchise in a different role. "Marvel as a whole? Yes. Kang the Conqueror? No. But I wouldn't not not take the meeting," the actor said. "There are so many characters I would love a take at." One character that has yet to debut in the MCU that James would love to take a crack at is Dwayne Taylor/Night Thrasher, who first appeared in Thor #411 in 1989. "As a kid, I loved Thrasher,...

Image
Jonathan Majors was on track to become the next big thing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After his very first appearance in Loki season one, his Kang was all set to be the main villain of the superhero world, someone who was going to put Thanos to shame. However, everything fell apart for the actor when he was accused and later found guilty in a domestic violence case.

Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror in Loki season 1 | Disney+

Well, the Marvel Studios are moving on without him and there are a handful of actors who are fan favorites and are well-suited to fill in Jonathan Majors’ shoes. One such name is Luke James, a singer and actor who recently starred in Them: The Scare. While he could make a good Kang, he himself withdrew his name from the running.

New Warriors Fills Out Cast, This Is Us Actress Milana Vayntrub Nabs Squirrel Girl Role
The Hollywood Reporter today brings word that Marvel and Freeform’s New Warriors series has filled out its cast, with Milana Vayntrub set to spearhead the ensemble as Doreen Green (Aka Squirrel Girl).

Vayntrub, best known for her work on This Is Us, will be rubbing shoulders with Derek Theler (Mister Immortal), Jeremy Tardy (Night Thrasher), Calum Worthy (Speedball), Matthew Moy (Microbe), and Kate Comer as Debrii. The live-action scripted comedy series will span 10 episodes in its first season and skew toward a younger audience, not unlike Marvel’s soon-to-be-released Cloak and Dagger series.

But whereas Cloak and Dagger focuses on the fiery love story between its titular leads, New Warriors is all about “six young people learning to cope with their abilities in a world where bad guys can be as terrifying as bad dates.” Behind the scenes, series showrunner and all-around Squirrel Girl superfan, Kevin Biegel, released the...

Squirrel Girl Finds Her Squad As Marvel’s New Warriors Series Begins To Coalesce
Squirrel Girl has assembled her squad – and not a moment too soon.

Set to headline Marvel and Freeform’s upcoming New Warriors, USA Today has blown the lid off the half-hour action-comedy series to identify the five costumed crusaders who will be rubbing shoulders with Doreen Green in 2018. Ordered straight to series just over a fortnight ago – it’ll join fellow Marvel show Cloak and Dagger on the network’s burgeoning slate – we know that writer-producer Kevin Biegel (Cougar Town, Scrubs) is attached to pen the script, with the option to serve as showrunner still on the table.

In tandem with today’s reveal, Jeph Loeb, executive producer and head of Marvel Television, spoke to USA Today about what makes Squirrel Girl and Co. so unique, stating that the New Warriors are “the eager, hopeful-for-a-brighter-tomorrow group that also have the wry, sardonic, life-is-hell attitude that makes them uniquely Marvel.”

As if that wasn’t enough,...

New Warriors and Squirrel Girl Series in Development
Marvel continues to put their best heroes forward and now 90’s team the New Warriors could be coming to TV with, Squirrel Girl.

Okay I honestly don’t know where to start here. These are two properties from Marvel that I thoroughly enjoy. You’ve got the New Warriors created in 1989 by one of my favorite writers Tom DeFalco. Consisting first of Night Thrasher/Dwayne Taylor the peak human armored suit wearing leader. Namorita the cousin of Sub-Mariner and a human Atlantean hybrid. Nova/Richard Ryder, member of the galaxy police force known as the Nova Corp. Speedball/Bobby Baldwin kinetic field wielding human pinball. Firestar/Angelica Jones mutant who can store and convert energy into heat, light, and radiation. And lastly Marvel Boy/Vance Astrovick mutant telekinetic. Now this team may not see the screen and I’m pretty sure ol’ Dick Ryder died a horrible death in the...
