The Oscars are over. The Golden Globes have all been handed out. And the BAFTAs are but a swiftly fading, "Did David Tennant really sing 500 Miles with James McAvoy and Anna Kendrick?" memory now. But the BAFTA TV awards are very much still on the horizon, and as the celebration of the small screen gears up for its 11 May telecast, today we've learned who the nominees are that'll be vying for those precious golden statues. BAFTA boss Jane Millichip has celebrated a British TV industry in “rude health” but said “choppy waters” could arise “if we lose control of our value chain.”
Speaking to Deadline as the likes of Baby Reindeer, Rivals and Mr Bates vs the Post Office were rewarded with multiple BAFTA TV noms, Millichip said the industry “has to look at” options to address the UK drama funding crisis such as improved tax credits, streamer levies or more support for the freelance community.
“I’m the first one to celebrate studios opening up across Britain and big films coming here but the other vital factor is what sits under that and that is a strong domestic sector,” she said. “I think we all need to pay some attention to that in the coming years. Naoko Takeuchi's Sailor Moonis one of the most iconic and beloved manga and anime series of the 1990s and one of the most instantly recognizable franchises in media history, even to people with little knowledge of the anime or manga mediums. One of Sailor Moon's most fascinating elements is its lore. While the series' later arcs massively flesh out the universe and give fans a deeper insight into the nature and history of the Sailor Scouts, some questions have never been answered satisfactorily. One such question concerns the existence of Sailor Earth, as it still causes intense fan debates today.
Sailor Moon's first arc, titled the Dark Kingdom arc, introduces fans to the main cast of Sailor Scouts: Sailor Moon, Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, Sailor Jupiter, and Sailor Venus. All but one of these scouts are named after one of the Solar System's inner planets. The only...

Joe Goldberg and his (mis)adventures are coming to a close this spring season 5 of You. The final 10 episodes of this popular dark thriller will all start airing on April 24, 2025.

Sailor Moon's lore is fascinating. Naoko Takeuchi's manga epic and its numerous anime adaptations feature a lot of fascinating world-building that fleshes out the world and the central conflict, increasing the story's depth and tension. However, while some of this lore is presented directly and explained in detail, other elements are left painfully unexplained, forcing fans to piece together numerous "blink and you'll miss it" details to get the complete picture. Nothing sums up this latter category more than Planet Mau, as despite being crucial to the overall story, it doesn't get the spotlight it deserves. But what is this planet, and what role does it play in the Sailor Moon story?
Luna and Artemis are two of the most crucial characters in Sailor Moon. Luna is introduced in the manga's first chapter, "Act 1 Usagi Sailor Moon," and acts as Usagi's mentor throughout the story, helping guide...

Rhobh househusband, Mauricio Umansky is being slammed as fans feel he exploited the deadly wildfires for personal gain. He has his real estate firm, The Agency and though he has offered to help, it felt more like solicitation. So, what did Kyle Richards’ estranged husband have to say? Keep reading for more details.
Mauricio Umansky Slammed, Exploiting Deadly Wildfires
For the last decade, Rhobh fans have watched as Mauricio Umansky built his real estate business from the ground up. He started working with his brother-in-law, Rick Hilton. Yet, Mauricio was excelling so he wanted more from Hilton & Hyland. Unfortunately, they were not willing to give him what he asked and then, he was offered the opportunity to go out on his own. Although he knew it could fracture his wife’s relationship with her sister, Kathy Hilton, and Rick, they were willing to take the risk and a chance.

“I just didn’t have it in me anymore. I was at a point where I was so depressed, frankly,” she tells The Hollywood Reporter of an episode still to come, which is teased at the end of Tuesday night’s episode. “I’m not someone who gets depressed. I’ve had anxiety my entire life but never depression.

Warning: There are spoilers ahead for Moana 2.
One of Moana 2's most significant differences from its predecessor is that it features less of the shapeshifting and fan-favorite demigod Maui (Dwayne Johnson). Despite the bond they formed and the adventure they went on together in the previous movie, Moana (Auliʻi Cravalho) and Maui are not together when the sequel begins. Moana has returned home to tell her people about her latest discovery and to embark on a new voyage while Mau is on his own mission in the lair of a new Moana 2 character, Matangi (Awhimai Fraser).
After being captured by Matangi, Maui spends a significant portion of the story as a prisoner. Meanwhile, Moana's story carries on for a while without Maui as she makes preparations for her voyage and sails across the ocean with her pet rooster, Heihei (Alan Tudyk), her pig, Pua, and her new human companions,...

Nava Mau earned an Emmy nomination (in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie category) for her breakthrough performance as the lead character’s love interest Teri in the hit Netflix series Baby Reindeer, and was named as a 2024 BAFTA Breakthrough cohort. We’ve previously heard that she will be following up her Baby Reindeer success with a role on the final season of the Netflix series You, and now Deadline has broken the news that she’s set to star in the comedic thriller The Dregs – which has something to do with a cursed wine bottle.
Before appearing on Baby Reindeer, Mau played the role of Ana on 16 episodes of the Max streaming series Generation. (16 episodes also happens to have been the show’s full run.)
Set in Tuscany, The Dregs will mark the directorial debut of writer Connor Martin. Filming is expected to begin in Italy next March.

2008's Babylon A.D. had everything going for it. With a stellar cast of Vin Diesel, Michelle Yeoh, Mark Strong, Charlotte Rampling, and Grard Depardieu, acclaimed source material, and a Cannes award-winning filmmaker, the movie could have been the next big thing to satisfy the hunger of sci-fi action fans. This didn't happen, largely due to difficulties between the acclaimed director Mathieu Kassovitz and the distributors, 20th Century Fox. Viewers were left disappointed and incredibly confused by the film.
Action hero Diesel plays the professional smuggler Toorop, currently stranded in dystopian Asia and hired to deliver a young woman, Aurora (Mlanie Thierry), to the U.S.A. accompanied by her guardian, Sister Rebeka (Yeoh). In return, he'll receive a clear passport to get home and a handsome sum of money. A good pairing on Dancing With The Stars needs to have chemistry, but some dancing pros and their celebrity partners have taken their chemistry to the next level.
In Season 33 of DWTS, dancing pro, Gleb Savchenko, and model, Brooks Nader, gained backlash from fans of the dance competition due to their flirty behavior. Their "showmance" turned viewers off, with people criticizing their over-the-top chemistry as being "cringe-worthy" instead of inspiring. The pair, who loved to share flirty TikTok videos, split about a week after being eliminated from the competition, according to US Weekly.
Unlike Gleb and Brooks, some of the pairings on DWTS had so much steamy chemistry on and off the dance floor that fans are still wondering if they were ever more than dance partners.

Naoko Takeuchis iconic Magical Girl series, Sailor Moon is known for its glamorous Guardians and equally fashionable villains. The story begins when 14-year-old Usagi Tsukino rescues a black cat from bullies and notices a crescent mark on her forehead. This small act of bravery unlocks Lunas ability to speak, leading her to reveal Usagis destiny as Sailor Moon. Under Lunas mentorship, Usagi learns to harness her powers and protect the Earth.
Sailor Moons heroines may be the Sailor Guardians but they are not the most essential characters for the story. This title must go to Sailor Moons loyal cat, Luna. Their bond forms the series core, with Luna acting as an unconventional, yet capable, Sensei on Usagis journey as Sailor Moon. While she may not have Sailor Guardians spectacular powers or stylish costumes, her guidance and mentorship are invaluable to Usagi, teaching her to embrace her powers as Sailor Moon and navigate her destiny.

Although Sailor Moon and its narrative often work with more complex themes, including death and rebirth, the story is also no stranger to humorous happenings starring its cast. The original anime of the nineties provides a large selection of filler episodes that, while not part of the main storyline, can still provide good fun. Many of these episodes provide more narrative about the characters and their lives outside their heroic duties, or act as simple comedic entertainment after a darker episode.
However, some aspects of the original anime can be rather baffling to the audience, whether they are filler or even in the main plot. This can vary from an unanswered question that the viewer never gains insight into or an episode with a confusing narrative surrounding it. Many of the most unusual episodes star foes that fans often note as having some of the strangest motifs in the history of the show.

Netflix’s stalker drama “Baby Reindeer” won four Emmys at Sunday night’s ceremony.
Along with triumphing in the limited or anthology series category, it earned trophies for Richard Gadd as a writer and lead actor as well Jessica Gunning as a supporting actress.
Taking the stage for the third time as “Baby Reindeer” won the top prize, creator and star Richard Gadd noted that the industry has been in an economic “slump” — but that there’s a way out.
“I do believe no slump was ever broken without a willingness to take risks,” he said. “I think if ‘Baby Reindeer’ has proved anything, it’s that there’s no set formula to this. That you don’t need big stars, proven IP, long-running series, catch-all storytelling to have a hit.”
“The only constant across any success in television is good storytelling,” he continued. “Good storytelling that speaks to our times.

John Leguizamo didn’t mince words when it came to diversity and inclusion in Hollywood during his speech at the 76th Emmy Awards.
Right at the top of his introduction for the Television Academy chair, “The Menu” actor called himself “one of Hollywood’s Dei hires.” “The D is for diligence, the E is for excellence, the I is for imagination. Everyone in this room tonight has dedicated their lives to diligence, excellence and imagination,” Leguizamo said.
“For years, I didn’t complain about the limited roles my people were offered — the spicy sex pot, the Latin lover, the maid, the gang banger. Turns out, not complaining doesn’t change anything,” he said Sunday night to applause. The actor then highlighted some of the many Latinx characters over the years who had been played by non-Latinx actors, from Al Pacino playing the Cuban gangster Tony Montana in “Scarface” to Natalie Wood...

Jessica Gunning has just won her first Emmy Award for her portrayal of Martha in Netflix’s “Baby Reindeer.” Gunning was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series for her work, one of 11 total nominations for the show.
After its April premiere, “Baby Reindeer” became one of the buzziest shows of the summer, catapulted into the Netflix Top 10 and earning instant awards speculation for Gunning, creator and star Richard Gadd, and the series itself. The show received nominations at the 76th Annual Emmy Awards for its casting, costuming, directing, editing, and music supervision, as well as in the performance categories for Gunning, Gadd, Tom Goodman-Hill, and Nava Mau (in Gunning’s category). The Creative Arts Emmys earlier in September awarded casting directors Nina Gold and Martin Ware as well as editors Peter H. Oliver and Benjamin Gerstein.

Reese Witherspoon teased that she might be working with one of Bravo’s The Real Housewives franchise stars.
While walking the Emmys red carpet, Witherspoon stopped by to talk to comedian Heather McMahan for E! News, who asked the Legally Blonde star if she had watched any reality TV.
“I feel like I can’t catch up,” Witherspoon said about watching The Real Housewives.
Witherspoon noted, “But I did sit next to a Real Housewife on a flight recently.”
This particular tidbit even made her Big Little Lies co-star Laura Dern gasp. McMahan wanted the tea from Witherspoon, who asked, “Are we going to name names?”
“Umm, well, we might have a Hello Sunshine project cooking now, but I can’t say anything,” Witherspoon teased. “But it was cool, it was very cool.”

For this year’s show, Mau is nominated for best supporting actress in a limited or anthology series or movie, becoming the first Latina trans nominee in this category. Cox was notably the first openly transgender person to be nominated for an acting Emmy for Orange is the New Black at the time.

As the entertainment world prepares for Sunday’s Primetime Emmy Awards — coinciding with the first day of Hispanic Heritage Month — Texas Congressman Joaquin Castro extends his congratulations to Cris Abrego, who will make history as the first Latino Chair of the Television Academy to preside over the prestigious event.
“Tonight, Cris Abrego will make history as the first Latino to lead the Television Academy during television’s biggest night,” Castro tells Variety in an exclusive statement. “For decades, Cris has been a trailblazer and successful entrepreneur, shaping modern entertainment and championing underrepresented voices in Hollywood. “Baby Reindeer” star Nava Mau may be becoming a trans role model following the success of the Netflix drama and her Emmy nomination for her work on the show, but the actor isn’t ready to call herself an “activist.”
“I really shy away from that word because I think that people who are activists are often times involved with organizing and I deeply respect that work,” Mau told me Friday at the Television Academy’s Performer Nominee Celebration at The Wallis in Beverly Hills. “I tend to call myself an advocate.”
Mau’s nod for outstanding supporting actress in a limited or anthology series or movie makes her the first transgender woman nominated in that category.
She becomes emotional when talking about hearing from trans youth who thank her for her visibility. “It makes me cry a little bit,” Mau said.
She recalls being honored at the Toronto International...
