Grammy Awards Red Carpet Winners: Chappell Roan, Taylor Swift and Jaden Smith Take the Top Spots
Image
Grammy Awards ratings may have been down, but social media engagement was definitely on the rise, and that helped propel the Red Carpet Power Rankings to some impressive numbers.

Live viewership for the 2025 Grammy Awards experienced a drop from 2024, drawing 15.4 million people vs. the 17.09 million who caught last year’s broadcast. Given that ratings for awards shows overall have been dwindling in recent years, The Recording Academy decided for 2025 to reach out to influencers to ideally ensure conversation and engagement. That plan worked, as online chatter increased vs. previous years, and data firms reported record numbers in social and earned engagement.

The Red Carpet Power Rankings, a partnership between The Hollywood Reporter and data firm Launchmetrics, indeed saw an uptick in online engagement over 2024. Launchmetrics employs its proprietary Media Impact Value (Miv) algorithm to analyze and rank the brands and stars seen on red carpets, spanning five categories: fashion, watches,...

Image
The Art of Elysium, a nonprofit organization that focuses on healing and inspiring through art, will honor filmmaker Lee Daniels with the Visionary Award at its Heaven Gala, which will take place on March 22, 2025.

The Los Angeles event is a one-night-only art installation conceived and curated by the chosen Visionary, who creates his or her idea of “heaven on Earth” as it relates to The Art of Elysium’s four main disciplines: fashion and design, music and movement, theatre and film, and visual arts. Daniels will envision his “heaven” as eternal peace.

“Being asked to envision heaven could not have come up at more inopportune time, yet the perfect timing in every way,” Daniels said in a statement. “I was in the midst of releasing a film and being pulled in every direction imaginable. Even making the time to talk through details seemed impossible. Yet, when the time was made,...

The 2024 Emmys’ Best Dressed Stars: Ayo Edebiri, Brie Larson, Andrew Scott and More
Image
Style at the 2024 Emmys ran the gamut this year, from vivid hues to the deepest jewel tones and a substantial commitment to classic black and shimmering metallics. The sheer variety of looks made the task of narrowing the list of best-dressed stars among this year’s winners and nominees all the more daunting.

In the end, selecting the most outstanding looks from Sunday ceremony at the Peacock Theater boiled down to a mix of factors: a silhouette and design that felt both current and beyond basic, an attention to beautiful fit, thoughtful accessorizing and the poise to pull off all of the above.

Here’s a look at a dozen stars who simply dazzled at the 2024 Emmys.

Tom Holland has given some of the best performances of his lifetime in star-studded projects like those from Marvel including the Avengers and the Spider-Man film series, and has even garnered a massive fan following. However, his latest project isn’t gaining the best of reviews from anyone, including not only critics but a considerable majority of his fandom as well.

The project that has been getting all this hate is his latest play Romeo and Juliet with Francesca Amewudah-Rivers, and one of the biggest reasons behind this backlash is only understandable: the glumness and lack of energy in the drama. However, even through such tough times, Holland has his biggest supporter and the love of his life still right by his side: Zendaya.

Tom Ford, Gabriela Hearst, Alicia Silverstone Honored at Green Carpet Fashion Awards
Image
In the midst of Oscar week, indigenous women, environmental activists and fashion changemakers were the stars of the show at Thursday night’s Green Carpet Fashion Awards (Gcfa), which was held for the first time in Los Angeles at NeueHouse Hollywood.

Led by Livia Giuggioli Firth (who re-wore a vintage black Alexander McQueen dress), founder of the Italy-based sustainability and communications consultancy Eco Age, the starry celebration honored environmental and social sustainability in fashion, entertainment and beyond.

Optimism was the driving force of the evening, starting with the vibrant LCD screen “carpet” displaying blooming botanical videos (designed by Stefan Beckman) that welcomed guests. (Gcfa’s new West Coast location narrowly missed the downpour that has dampened L.A. in recent weeks.)

“We’re living in a time of great challenges,” said Firth in her opening remarks, delivered with Ugandan environmental activist Vanessa Nakate and actor Taylor Zakhar Perez. Continued Nakate,...

Vivienne Westwood Dies: Fashion Designer Dubbed “Godmother Of Punk” Was 81
Image
British fashion designer Dame Vivienne Westwood, who was a key part of bringing punk fashion into the mainstream, has died at 81. No cause was given, but a tweet from her fashion house said she passed “peacefully and surrounded” by her family in Clapham, South London.

Westwood was a sometimes-controversial punk and new wave designer in the 1970s and went on to dress some of the biggest names in fashion. Her androgynous designs, slogan t-shirts and irreverent attitude towards the establishment were her trademark, as was her activism on bringing causes like climate change to the catwalk.

Leave It to Elle Fanning to Pull Off This Edgy Yet Regal Slip Dress
Elle Fanning

Westwood: Punk, Icon, Activist documentary review: counterculture’s wise elder woman
MaryAnn’s quick take… There’s nothing fawning and plenty ironic about this essential first documentary to cover a major female fashion designer, a woman whose life is almost a perfect reflection of the trajectory of 20th-century feminism. I’m “biast” (pro): I’m desperate for movies about women

I’m “biast” (con): I’m not into fashion at all

(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto) women’s participation in this film

(learn more about this)

She’s been a fixture of the counterculture since, well, she helped invent the punk aesthetic in London in the 1970s with her then-partner Malcolm McLaren, who dressed the band he managed — the Sex Pistols — in clothes she made, such as a T-shirt with straitjacket-esque too-long sleeves. Today, in her 70s, she remains an iconoclast in her artistic sense, her designs alive with funky prints and retro-futuristic shapes, as...

Westwood: Punk, Icon, Activist – watchable documentary on a fashion one-off
The punk couturier is a grumpy delight in Lorna Tucker’s entertaining film

Vivienne Westwood, folded into an armchair, refuses to make eye contact with the camera. “It’s so boring,” she complains of her own punk past. The Sex Pistols? “No, can’t be bothered with them either.” But Westwood’s blunt candour – she peppers her conversation with sweary invective – and mardy demeanour suit her just as well as her slightly batty outfits. A gloriously eccentric one-off and a fashion original, she is an entertaining subject for this watchable documentary. And if it tiptoes around certain themes – she is not pressed on the contradictions between her eco-activism and the wastefulness of the fashion industry – the film still offers a glimpse into the controlled chaos of her creativity and her opinions on everything from hem lengths to capitalism to her third husband and collaborator Andreas Kronthaler. “I like living with...

Vivienne Westwood Announces Red Carpet Collection
She’s definitely a favorite among celebrities and Vivienne Westwood has decided to put some effort into a new range that will be perfect for awards shows and movie premieres. The always-interesting designer’s latest venture is called the Gold Label red carpet capsule collection and her husband Andreas Kronthaler has already shown it to press and stylists.

Vivienne’s creations were inspired by the “elaborate, feminine and flowing silhouettes” of late English couturier Charles Fredrick Worth, according to Wwd.

Westwood’s Gold Label red carpet range is slated to debut in Vivienne’s boutiques in January and we will be on the lookout for her pieces as the Golden Globes, Oscars and Grammys kick off in the New Year.
