SkyShowtime has set its first Polish original, a fictional drama series that follows the tragicomic adventures of a 40-year old playboy.

In Warszawianka, Franek Czułkowski aka Czuly, played by Borys Szyc, is a talented writer who has experienced success and failure and now finds himself trapped between his personal struggles and societal expectations. The show follows his adventures as he struggles to grasp the meaning of his own existence in the modern world.

Helmed by Jacek Borcuch and written by Jakub Żulczyk, Warszawianka is the first Polish-language series for Comcast/Paramount Jv SkyShowtime, the new streamer which is available in numerous European territories in which Comcast’s Peacock or Paramount+ aren’t available.

Piotr Uznański serves as Director of Photography on Warszawianka. Additional cast includes Krystyna Janda, Jerzy Skolimowski, Ilona Ostrowska, Piotr Polak, Jadwiga Jankowska-Cieślak, Zofia Wichłacz, Paulina Gałązka, Jan Peszek, Marta Ścisłowicz, Marianna Zydek, Jakub Wieczorek, Tomasz Włosok, Maja Pankiewicz and Milena Goździela.

The lurid title and poster for Girls To Buy, a mostly-subtitled Polish dramatic film, are rather misleading. This tale about sex workers is less erotic than suspenseful, playing out a lot closer to a Scarface than to an Eyes Wide Shut. The screen is filled with attractive women in alluring attire but there’s relatively little sex and nudity, compared to what one might expect from the subject being explored.

For those still interested, the action begins in 1999. Our protagonist, Emi (Paulina Galazka), wants to break into the high-end escort business, rather than spend her life like her mom – running a small drab shop in a small drab village. She finds a mentor with a gorgeous daughter already in the biz and hits the ground running.

A Young Man with High Potential is a psychological thriller. From Berlin, Germany, this title focuses on a man who is socially awkward. Working almost exclusively from home, Piet (Adam Ild Rohweder) has lost touch with the outside world. When Klara (Paulina Galazka) becomes friendly with Piet, he instantly falls for her. Desperate and lonely, Piet will do anything to make this one-sided relationship work. A Young Man with High Potential has played at several film festivals, throughout 2018, including London's Frightfest. Now, Artsploitation Films is prepping this thriller for a home entertainment release, in the United States. Details on this wide release are hosted here. The trailer reveals more of Piet's difficulties. Overwhelmed in public, Piet has only one friend. When he meets someone new on a project, Piet's loneliness and frustration are disturbed, leading to a tragedy. Now, Klara is the one paying the price for Piet's social awkwardness.

Hex and A Young Man With High Potential head join sales roster.

Genre sales outfit Raven Banner has boarded worldwide rights to two titles ahead of Toronto next week – Hex and A Young Man With High Potential.

Supernatural horror Hex (pictured) stars Kelly Blatz and Jenny Boyd and tells of a young backpacker’s holiday romance that turns into a nightmare when the girl of his dreams begins to suffer from terrifying blackouts.

In their desperate search for a cure, the couple become the unwitting playthings of a vengeful and horrific entity. Rudolf Buitendach directed from a screenplay he co-wrote with Christan Piers Betley.
