Now, a new limited-edition coffee table book, Lil Bub: The Earth Years, will celebrate Bub’s legacy and impact. Bub’s owner, Mike Bridavsky, compiled the book, which will boast photos and biographical commentary alongside quotes from Whoopi Goldberg, Jack Black,...

Why Are Cats on TikTok Getting Really Into Mid-2000s Ambient Music?
Image
When a fan told Jimmy Lavalle that a song he wrote about 18 years ago had become really popular with cats on TikTok, he was shocked. He wrote the track in Reykjavík, Iceland, gazing at the Esjan mountains across Kollafjörður bay — now, cats were prancing across their living rooms to the tune.

Last December, the ambient and electronic musician (also known as Album Leaf) received a video in which the serene opening strains of “Window” — the first song on 2004’s In a Safe Place — unexpectedly piqued the attention of a cat...

2017 Remember Me Thursday Global Pet Adoption Awareness Campaign
This month, Helen Woodward Animal Center will once again unite with animal welfare proponents and organizations worldwide for the 5th Annual Remember Me Thursday.

Honored on the fourth Thursday of September, the campaign asks pet lovers and animal rescue groups to create an unstoppable, integrated voice advocating for homeless pets to live in forever homes, not die waiting for them. Grassroots candle-lighting ceremonies and a global avalanche of social media buzz will shine a light on the millions of animals still awaiting adoption and encourage communities to opt to adopt and reduce the millions of homeless pets euthanized each year. As in previous years, some very big names are stepping forward to lend their support to the cause, including Tony and Emmy Award-winning actress, Kristin Chenoweth, who has been named the 2017 Official Spokesperson for the campaign. My Cat from Hell (2011)
Sometimes, cats just gonna cat. That’s the case with Cali at least, a pretty kitty who will attack any and every human being on the planet — besides her guardian Tara, that is. Tara did the only thing a responsible cat owner could do: she called “My Cat From Hell” host Jackson Galaxy. Also Read: '90 Day Fiance' Spinoff Season 2 Premiere: Anfisa Is Back and Worse Than Ever (Exclusive Video) “I’m afraid of her,” Tara admitted of her relationship with orange-and-black feline, who was left for dead by her four-legged mom. A Tattooed, Animal-Loving YouTuber is Teaching Thousands How to Save the Kittens Shelters Can’t Help
“I don’t even have a cat,” SummerUnicorn10 commented on a YouTube video posted by Hannah Shaw, aka The Kitten Lady. “Why am I watching this?”

The answer – the Washington, D.C.-based Shaw proves that even non-cat aficionados (We mean you, YouTube commenter Doug Ingram, who owns three dogs) can find joy in neonatal kitten rescue and care.

“I have no doubt this is having an impact,” said Shaw hours after returning from the Miami-Dade area where she hosted workshops for the 2017 Animal Care Expo conference, hosted by the Humane Society of the United States, and Miami-Dade Animal Services.

A Yearly Retreat Brings Together Stereotypes in Among Ravens
Natalie Imbruglia, Amy Smart, Christian Campbell, Russell Friedenberg, Joshua Leonard, Will McCormack, Victoria Smurfit, and Johnny Sequoyah in Among Ravens (2014)
Among Ravens wants to be the The Big Chill with Gen-x assholes, a weird ambition.

It's the kind of film in which the setup is conveyed via a pre-dinner toast and couples pick fights at the table. Directed by Russell Friedenberg and Randy Redroad with the nuanced staging of little kids pushing the heads of dolls together ("Now, you two kiss!"), the film concerns an annoying group of obvious, badly written stereotypes that meets for an annual lake-house douche huddle. To wit: There's a male life coach assembled from 1990s Burning Man clichés, who looks like Buddy Hackett with Jackson Galaxy sideburns, beaded chokers, and a fucking ukulele. ("You just gotta keep it real," he says, in lieu of life advice.)

Saul (co-director Friedenberg) is a Rasputin-r...

Is This Truly the Cat From Hell? Expert Tries to Decipher Feisty Feline
In theory, it certainly seemed like a match made in heaven - the world's leading cat behaviorist and the world's craziest cat. In reality, however, things turned out differently for Jackson Galaxy, host of the Animal Planet show My Cat From Hell, and a 22-lb. feline named Lux, who made headlines around the planet in March when he allegedly flipped out on his owners, forcing them to call 911 for help. "In the 20 years I've been doing this, I've never met a cat like Lux," Galaxy tells People of his time spent trying to help the troubled feline, which viewers can...

“911 cat” featured on this week’s “My Cat From Hell”
The June 14 episode of Animal Planet’s My Cat From Hell will find host/cat behaviorist Jackson Galaxy visiting Lux, the infamous “911 cat” with a “history of violence” who earlier this year made headlines by terrorizing his guardians so much that he forced them to call the emergency number. On the 911 call, the terrified family reported that they were shut off in a bedroom, with their infant and dog, as the crazed cat screeched in the background. “He’s trying to attack us,” the man who called the number told the dispatcher. Apparently, the cat would charge at them every … Continue reading →

Catie Wayne Aka Boxxy Gets Really Excited About Maggots In New Series
You may not know the name Catie Wayne, but if you spent a lot of time on YouTube around 2009 or so, you're probably familiar with her alter ego: Boxxy. Wayne's excitable, rambling vlogs turned her most popular character into an Internet sensation, but she has recently expanded her presence to other endeavors. Wayne is the host of Weird, Gross, and Beautiful, a web series set starring the unusual members of the animal kingdom. Weird, Gross, and Beautiful is part of Discovery's Animalist network. The three adjectives in its title probably give you an idea of what it entails. Each episode will take on a different revolting critter, with Wayne explaining why it is beautiful, not ugly. She gushes about maggots in the first episodes, and by the time her vlog makes its way to botflies, its less "beautiful" and more "unbelievably horrifying." As with any other series on a Discovery vertical,...

7 Shows to Stream With Your Family Over the Holidays
My Cat from Hell (2011)
The holiday season means many things to many people, but there's one thing it means for all of us: family couch time. There's a lot of sitting around in many of our very near futures, which also means a lot of scrolling through lists of shows in an attempt to reach a consensus, followed by the mutual "I don't care, whatever you guys want to watch" response, followed by silent seething. Let us help.My Cat From Hell (Netflix) Good for: All ages, including children; pet lovers; fans of Intervention, Hoarders et al, but also fans of The Dog Whisperer, Super Nanny, and lifestyle-guidance shows. The Pitch: Let's grant that host Jackson Galaxy has a very cultivated persona, with a silly name and a really silly beard and the job of being a cat whisperer. Fine. My Cat From Hell is still great on two fronts: First, holy moly, there...

Jackson Galaxy To Discuss All Things Cat In New Animalist Web Series
Jackson Galaxy and the Internet share one very important thing in common: They both love cats. Animal Planet Wants More Cats From Hell
Because there is seemingly no end to cat lovers, and no end to cats from hell, Animal Planet announced this morning it has renewed its series of the same name for a fifth season. My Cat From Hell will return in early 2014 with 16 episodes in which “cat listener” Jackson Galaxy visits homes to solve feline issues. The series recently completed its fourth season among Animal Planet’s top 10 series with women 18-49 and 25-54. The fourth season’s third, epic episode, “Penny Hates Puck” – both cats, Btw – clocked series highs, including 1.2 million viewers, more than a quarter million of whom were men 25-54. Of that 1.2 mil, 607,000 were 18-49 (363 of whom were women 18-49). In rough numbers: Penny hated Puck, Penny attacked Puck so often and so viciously, poor Puck was left utterly terrified, completely clawed up, and peeing on herself after every fight. McFh is produced for Animal Planet by Eyeworks USA.

Cat owners need to become more literate ... about reading cats.

Cat behaviorist Jackson Galaxy wraps up his fourth season of Animal Planet's My Cat From Hell on Saturday (8/7c) and boils down why people misunderstand their feline friends.
