The 2025 Tribeca Festival has set its selection of shorts across narrative, documentary, animated works and music videos.
Expanded eligibility to projects previously screened in New York or online for out-of-competition consideration led to record submissions and 93 short films this year, a high among major fests.
The music video lineup curated by Sharon Badal, spans the world premiere of Kid Cudi’s new short film Neverland, directed by Ti West and produced by Monkeypaw Productions; Rock the Bells from LL Cool J; Jack White’s That’s How I’m Feeling; and Madame President by Grace Bowers.
Tribeca, which runs June 4–15 in NYC, is also deepening its investment in shorts by introducing the inaugural Shorts Cinema screening room at its Spring Studios festival hub to allow more filmmakers and fans to discover the next generation of independent film, where shorts are often a first stop.

Suffs, the double-Tony Award winning Broadway musical by Shaina Taub that counts Hillary Rodham Clinton among its producers, will close January 5, 2025, producers announced today.
The well-reviewed musical about the suffragist movement began previews at the Music Box Theatre on March 26, with an official opening on April 18. When it closes, it will have played 24 previews and 301 regular performances.
A national tour will launch at Seattle’s 5th Avenue Theatre in September 2025, with additional cities to be announced in the coming months.
Though the musical did solid business throughout most of the summer – and scored six Tony nominations (including Best Musical), winning two (Taub’s book and score) – business had been dropping. For the week ending October 6, attendance was at just 78% of the Music Box’s capacity. The weekly gross that week was $679,589, the lowest take since a summer high of $942,785 for the week ending June 23.
Produced by Clinton, Malala Yousafzai, Jill Furman,...

“It’s really cool to get to see a show from different perspectives,” says Hannah Cruz about her unique history with the musical “Suffs.” When the show played Off-Broadway at the Public Theatre, the actress played the role of suffragist Ruza Wenclawska, but in the Broadway production that just opened at the Music Box Theatre on April 18, she steps into the role of Inez Milholland. The performer says of the two women, “They’re actually incredibly similar… like two sides of the same coin,” explaining that “they were both socialists, they were both very radical.” Watch our exclusive video interview above.
Cruz shares that she didn’t know much about Milholland – or many other of the suffragists depicted in Shaina Taub’s musical about the passage of the 19th Amendment guaranteeing women the right to vote – prior to joining the project. But in the case of the “suff” that she inhabits she says,...
