Exclusive: Miami has become the epicenter of the cryptocurrency boom and a new docuseries will follow the bombastic individuals on the frontlines of this digital gold rush.
Portal A, the production company backed by Brent Montgomery’s Wheelhouse, has teamed with Brick City, the production company behind the eponymous Sundance doc, to produce Crypto Beach (w/t).
The series, which is being taken out to buyers in the coming weeks, will look at the rise of the digital currency, from the emergence of Bitcoin in 2009 to today’s landscape which includes thousands of decentralized currencies.

Despite the devastating mudslides that overwhelmed the Santa Barbara, California community of Montecito last week — resulting in at least 20 deaths and the destruction of 100-plus homes — the Santa Barbara International Film Festival (Sbiff) will go on as usual. A reason to celebrate is “needed now more than ever,” wrote Sbiff director Roger Durling in a letter soon to be shared with festival-goers. He continued, “It is an opportunity for people to gather – reflect – experience – feel – and process,” noting that cinema attendance was strong during the Great Depression.

First Clip from Alice D: “In the late 1890s the Davenport House was a famous and successful brothel, until a young prostitute named Alice killed herself there. After her death, the brothel became haunted by Alice’s ghost, and was eventually abandoned.
More than a century later, the old structure is renovated into a beautiful mansion. It is still rumored to inhabit the ghost of Alice. Despite this, the new owner; the rich and arrogant heir to the Davenport fortune, decides to throw a wild party for his first night in the house.

This viewer thought the first trailer for Ghostline was satire. However, there are no Wayans brothers here. Instead, Ghostline, from Undaunted Films, is a fairly serious indie horror feature. The film is directed by first time feature film director Dean Whitney. As well, the film stars Rachel Alig (Officer Down), Zack Gold and Burt Culver. And now, horror fans can view the film's haunting trailer below. The story follows a couple, who encounter strange, late night phone calls. An unstable woman is on the other end and Tyler (Gold) and Chelsea (Alig) will have to seek help to rid themselves of this menacing prankster. Ghostline is currently in post-production. It is expected that this film will release in 2014. Fans of indie horror features can preview the madness below. Release Date: 2014. Director/writer: Dean Whitney.
