The Marvel Heroes & Villains You Missed In Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man
Image
This article contains spoilers for "Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man" episodes 1 and 2.

The alternate-universe Peter Parker (Hudson Thames) of "Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man" lives in a world that has plenty of superheroes and villains, but there's a chance that viewers won't even realize just how many of them are running around on this version of Earth. The show practically throws Doctor Strange (Robin Atkin Downes) at its audience, while the alien Strange fights (Kellen Goff) is carrying a distinctly Venom-like symbiote. Likewise, Norman Osborn (Colman Domingo) and his son Harry (Zeno Robinson) both turn up with sartorial allusions to their respective Green Goblin personas. This universe's version of Curt "The Lizard" Connors, Dr. Connors (Zehra Fazal), is also quite recognizable from her signature lab coat and missing arm.

However, you may not have noticed that many seemingly inconspicuous civilians and supporting characters are also based on Marvel superheroes and villains. In fact,...

Who Is Nico Minoru In Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man? Her Marvel History, Explained
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

Spoilers for "Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man" to follow.

Who is Peter Parker's best friend? Harry Osborn? Ned Leeds? Johnny Storm? According to the new animated series "Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man," it's — Nico Minoru? If you're a casual Marvel fan, you might be thinking: who? Now, Nico is an established Marvel character, but not one who is usually connected to Spider-Man. So why use her? And what can her role in the series so far answer about that?

"Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man" is not set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or at least not the so-called "Sacred Timeline." As executive producer Brad Winderbaum has explained, putting the show in the MCU continuity would've been too restrictive.

That said, the show is still using the MCU as a foundation. Peter (Hudson Thames) and Aunt May (Kari Wahlgren) are drawn to resemble Tom Holland and Marisa Tomei,...

New Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Clip Reveals Peter Parker's Superhero Origin
Image
Peter Parker meets a new friend, and receives great powers, in the latest Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man sneak peek.

Marvel released an official clip for its latest Spider-Man show, specifically revealing the moment Peter (Hudson Thames) was bitten by the radioactive spider that granted him special abilities. Following the aftermath of a battle that left a hole in Midtown High School, the clip shows the spider making contact with Peter just as he introduces himself to student Nico Minoru (Grace Song), who reveals herself to be a fellow freshman. Its bite, meanwhile, causes him to pass out, though not before Peter observes the spider climb onto another student's backpack before it's carried away.

15 shows to watch if you love Agatha All Along
Image
Agatha All Along has been a fantastic series, and there are more shows to watch if you love that witchy magic!

The Marvel Television series has become a major hit for Disney Plus. This sequel to WandaVision has Kathryn Hahn reprising her scene-stealing role as witch Agatha Harkness, the secret architect of much of the chaos. After regaining her memory and powers, Agatha goes on a quest for more power with the uneasy aid of other witches and a mysterious Teen.

The show has a wonderful mix of dark humor, action, thrills, drama and some truly shocking twists. It’s one of many TV shows that use witches and magic, most aimed at a YA audience. Others do have the same appeal as Agatha with a darker take on magic yet some truly offbeat storytelling.

Narrowing it down can be hard, but these 15 shows are just for anyone who enjoyed Agatha All Along.

Casting Mikasa For Attack On Titan's Live-Action Remake: 10 Actors Who'd Be Perfect
Image
Attack on Titan is one of the best and most beloved manga series out there, and there are many reasons why Attack on Titan is the greatest anime ever. Within the story by Hajime Isayama, Mikasa Ackerman is one of the best characters in Attack on Titan and one of the most powerful members of the Scouts. In a live-action iteration, the actors have to be top-notch because they must communicate much of the internal dialogue and motivations that are written in the manga or told in voice-over in the anime. This is especially true for quiet characters like Mikasa.

Casting Mikasa would be one of the most important parts of making a live-action Attack on Titan movie today, as she is almost as vital to the narrative as Eren, the protagonist. While the countries and locations in Attack on Titan are fictional, Mikasa is descended from Hizuru, which is...

Exclusive: Iron Chef Morimoto Talks Sushi Master
Image
What is it about cooking competition shows that we love? After all, it's not like we can eat the food, or even smell it. It feels like the ultimate kind of window shopping — watching people cook and bake things that we will never enjoy. And yet, there is something suspenseful, charming, educational, and even deeply human about some TV cooking competitions.

While many of them devolve into shouting, overly dramatic music, and manipulative editing, some of them stand out as genuinely great television, such as The Great British Bake-Off and Iron Chef. That latter series, especially in its original Japanese incarnation but also Iron Chef America, is often considered the greatest cooking competition franchise of all time.

Ironically, one of the great original Iron Chefs, Chef Masaharu Morimoto, is now presenting what's arguably the best cooking show of the past decade — Morimoto's Sushi Master, a new Roku Original.

Marvel's Runaways Gets Abruptly Removed from Hulu and Disney+
Image
You can no longer stream Marvel's Runaways on Hulu or Disney+, as the show has been removed from streaming services. It was recently reported that a purge was taking place at Disney+ with several movies and shows getting removed for the sake of cutting costs. Per /Film, it's since been revealed that Runaways has also been pulled, no longer available on Hulu in the U.S. and Disney+ internationally as it had been up to this point. As the show hasn't been given a physical release, Runaways is now inaccessible, and the news has some fans of the show feeling unhappy.

A variety of other titles have been removed by Disney+, including Willow, The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, Turner & Hooch, The World According to Jeff Goldblum, The Mysterious Benedict Society, Magic Camp, Stargirl, Just Beyond, and many more. Another Marvel series, Marvel's Hero Project, was also announced as one...

Marvel's Runaways Removed From Disney+ And Hulu Without Warning
Image
Before the 2020s, film archivists' worst nightmares were digital degradation or the simple loss of film reels. Now, streaming services have created a new one for them: the purging of original movies and series without a physical release.

HBO Max has been a leading culprit, but Disney+ isn't blameless either. This is, after all, the same company that used to place its movies in the "Disney Vault" during the reign of physical media. It had previously been confirmed that the service would be removing 50 titles on May 26, 2023, including "Willow," "Big Shot," and "Y: The Last Man." However, it's been discovered that another title was unexpectedly included in the purge: "Marvel's Runaways," which is now no longer listed on Hulu or Disney+ (in the U.S. or internationally).

Nominally set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, "Runaways" adapted the eponymous comic first created by Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Aphona. Both the...

‘Press Play’ Review: Turning Back the Clock Through Music Doesn’t Bring Back That Lovin’ Feelin’
Image
Songs can be like time capsules, messages from the past that conjure powerful images and emotions, transporting us back to milestones in our lives with a signature sound. For the heroine at the heart of “Press Play,” the curated collection of songs on a very special mixtape are a literal transportive device, a time warp that rewinds back to when the love of her life was alive and well. Like the songs that fill its soundtrack, Greg Björkman’s directorial debut has a catchy hook and atmospheric pull — yet the material leaves far too much underdeveloped, unrealized and incohesive to connect with viewers’ heads and hearts.

Laura (Clara Rugaard) spends her days on the beaches of Oahu, capturing the spirit of the island with her paintbrush in the hope of turning her artistic talent into a viable career. She’s so focused on this goal that it takes a whiny...

Channing Tatum in Dog (2022)
Marvel’s Midnight Suns Cast: Every Hero and Villain Confirmed So Far
Channing Tatum in Dog (2022)
Marvel video games have a massive library’s worth of characters to draw from, thanks to the publication’s long history and Marvel’s love of the multiverse shenanigans and old-fashioned team-ups. Firaxis Games’ upcoming Marvel strategy title, Marvel’s Midnight Suns, already featured a huge cast of characters when it was announced, and the game’s cast of heroes and villains has only grown since then.

During Summer Game Fest 2022, Firaxis revealed a new trailer for Midnight Suns (which was even backed by Metallica’s “Master of Puppets”). The video doesn’t reveal much about the upcoming title’s story or gameplay (though this new video preview offers quite a bit of Midnight Suns gameplay), but it did provide plenty of “superheroes fighting demons” action. Even better, the video showed the game’s main antagonist, Lilith, corrupting Venom and turning him into a half-demon, half-Symbiote monster. Mind you, it...

Fantasia Short Block Review: Things That Go Bump in the East
Image
“Chewing Gum”, from Mihir Fadnavis, features a strange man (Randeep Jha) tormented by an unearthly being on a trip through the city as he becomes increasingly aware of malicious forces chasing after him. This is a fairly fun and chilling short that gets the block off to a great start. The moody black-and-white cinematography from Pratik Shah adds immensely to the presentation, enhancing the shadows around him and keeping the suspense piling up with the strange creature following him almost entirely invisible as a result. The terrifying screeches, groans, and slurping sounds it emits are genuinely chilling, and add to the terrifying ordeal he experiences into the night. This segment can easily be stretched and expanded into a longer feature as the folklore and imagery provided here are top-notch.

Marvel TV fans mourning the end of Freeform’s “Cloak & Dagger” got to see Tandy (Olivia Holt) and Ty (Aubrey Joseph) one more time during the final season of “Runaways.”

Another live-action Marvel series bites the dust. Hulu has announced that Marvel's Runaways TV show won't have a fourth season. Season three, comprised of 10 episodes, will end the series and be released on Friday, December 13th. Hopefully, it won't leave fans of the show with a cliffhanger.

Marvel's Cloak & Dagger series was recently cancelled on Freeform after two seasons. The main characters from that show, Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph), will have their final appearance on Runaways in a crossover event.

A superhero drama, Marvel's Runaways stars Rhenzy Feliz, Lyrica Okano, Virginia Gardner, Ariela Barer, Gregg Sulkin, Allegra Acosta, Annie Wersching, Ryan Sands, Angel Parker, Ever Carradine, James Marsters, Kevin Wesiman, Brigid Brannagh, James Yaegashi, Brittany Ishibashi, Elizabeth Hurley, and Clarissa Thibeaux. "In an action-packed Season 3, the Runaways frantically search for their captured friends Chase, Gert, and Karolina," reads the official logline.

"The kids go head to head with an unstoppable enemy who has targeted Leslie — or more accurately, the child she’s carrying."

‘Marvel’s Runaways’ to End With Season 3 – Watch the Trailer Here (Video)
Hulu has good news and bad news for all you “Marvel’s Runaways” fans. The good: The Season 3 trailer finally dropped on Monday. The bad: The video revealed the upcoming episodes, which will be released on Dec. 13, will be the show’s last.

An individual with knowledge of the streaming service’s decision to end the Marvel series says that creatively, the series had “come to a natural ending point” and that Hulu felt this was “the right way and time” to complete the Runaways’ journey.

Here’s the official description for the third and final season of “Runaways”: In an action-packed Season 3, the Runaways frantically search for their captured friends Chase, Gert, and Karolina. The kids go head to head with an unstoppable enemy who has targeted Leslie — or more accurately, the child she’s carrying. Nico draws them all into a dark realm where its ruler Morgan le Fay,...

‘Runaways’ to End After Season 3 on Hulu
Gregg Sulkin, Ariela Barer, Lyrica Okano, Virginia Gardner, Allegra Acosta, and Rhenzy Feliz in Runaways (2017)
The live-action Marvel series “Runaways” is ending with its upcoming season on Hulu, Variety has learned.

The show, which is based on the Marvel comics series of the same name, is set to debut its third season on Dec. 13. That season will now serve as the show’s finale. According to an individual close to the series, the creative team felt that the third season provided a natural ending point for the show.

It is worth nothing, however, that “Runaways” was one of the few remaining live-action shows under the Marvel Television umbrella as set up by Jeph Loeb. With the end of “Runaways,” the only remaining live-action shows under Loeb’s purview are “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D,” which will end with its upcoming seventh season on ABC, and “Helstrom,” another Hulu series that recently set its main cast. All the rest of the Loeb-produced Marvel shows,...

The kids go head-to-head with an unstoppable enemy who has targeted Leslie — or more accurately, the child she’s carrying. Marvel Television has come a long way in the last couple of years with their shows on ABC, Netflix, and Hulu. One of the ongoing dramas is Hulu’s Runaways, bringing the iconic teenage group to life in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. For two seasons now, we have been following the story of Alex Wilder (Rhenzy Feliz), Lyrica Okano (Nico Minoru), Karolina Dean (Virginia Gardner), Gertrude Yorkes (Ariela Barer), Chase Stein (Gregg Sulkin) and Molly Hernandez (Allegra Acosta) in their battle against their complicated villainous parents.

After everything that went down in the second season, fans are eagerly waiting for the third season, which drops on December 13. The new season will also include the long-requested crossover with Freeform’s Marvel drama Cloak and Dagger. While it has already been two years, these characters have come a long way, whether they are on the good or evil side. As season three approaches,...

Marvel's Runaways to Crossover with Cloak & Dagger
Hulu is staging a superhero team-up of epic proportions.

It has been announced that the Runaways will be getting some assistance from Cloak & Dagger's Tandy and Tyrone during the upcoming third season of the hit series.

“You’ve all been asking for this and we’ve heard you loud and clear. So we made it happen,” the Runaways cast revealed in the video below, confirming the news.

It's unclear how the different groups will cross paths, but still, this is great news for fans of both Marvel dramas, especially given that Cloak & Dagger has yet to be renewed for a third season.

The show experienced a big dip in the ratings, with the sophomore run averaging around 355k viewers and 0.12 rating in the demo.
