Blu-ray Review: Katherine Heigl Bombs Again in Unfunny ‘One for the Money’
Chicago – With each passing year, Katherine Heigl’s claims about Judd Apatow’s sexism appear increasingly absurd. While Apatow is producing A-grade work from female filmmakers, such as “Bridesmaids” and HBO’s “Girls,” Heigl is portraying shallow ditzes who are susceptible to chauvinistic, overgrown adolescents. “The Ugly Truth,” “Killers,” “Life as We Know It” and “New Years Eve” is not a track record worth bragging about.

Yet the worst crime committed by Heigl’s latest bomb, “One for the Money,” is that it is a complete bore. There isn’t a character or situation that inspires any modicum of interest. Viewers unfamiliar with novelist Janet Evanovich’s beloved heroine Stephanie Plum will fail to see what all the fuss is about. The script crams Evanovich’s hugely popular novels into a run-of-the-mill star vehicle fusing tired sitcom banter with a predictable murder mystery. This is the sort of picture that destroyed Whoopi Goldberg’s career.

Film Review: ‘One For The Money’ – 2012 Already Has A Contender For Worst Film Of The Year
There is nothing in the world that makes my blood boil like the concept of ‘not trying’. ‘Not trying’ is the very hallmark of contempt: for yourself and for others. It is also a sign of weakness. One For The Money may be one of the most contemptuous, weak films to come out Hollywood in quite some time. It is also one of the worst films you will see in 2012, and we’re barely a month into the new year.

To call One For The Money a film would be a disservice to all films, including the annual bulls***t churned out by the likes of Michael Bay and Tyler Perry. It’s flimsy premise isn’t even worthy to be the pilot of a really bad TNT, USA, or Lifetime television show. It is a piece of work that simply doesn’t need to exist beyond the crappy section...

Film Review: Katherine Heigl’s ‘One For the Money’ Was Made For No One
Chicago – Just under five years ago, Katherine Heigl became a decently known actress in the film world for her role as Alison in the Judd Apatow film “Knocked Up.” After having been in the show “Grey’s Anatomy” for a few years, Heigl had finally broke into the world of cinema, and seemed to have a decent amount of comedy acting skills. Now, several years and a few bad movies in a row, Heigl seems to be desperately holding on to whatever career she still has left.

Rating: 1.0/5.0

The newest film she stars in, “One for the Money,” is just another messy and disappointing entry on her resume (like “Life As We Know It,” “The Ugly Truth,” and “27 Dresses,” among others). Set in New Jersey, Heigl plays Stephanie Plum, an out-of-luck and out-of-work single woman who turns to her cousin for employment at his bail-bond business. That’s right, this untrained,...
