Luke Jaden has unveiled the ensemble cast for his indie Animals of the Land, which he wrote and will direct later this summer in Michigan.

Warrior Nun and Killing Eve actor Andrea Tivadar, Jord Knotter, Abel Lysenko and newcomer Roan Kyne have nabbed roles in the horror thriller. Animals of the Land follows a family at the beginning of time who live in perfect harmony with Mother Nature, until an act of rebellion unearths a violent force of evil.

That forces the family to make an unbearable sacrifice to restore the cycle of life leading to the downfall of creation.

Tivadar, the only woman in the movie’s main cast, will play Willow, the family’s mother, while Knotter plays the father, Clay. Kyne nabbed the role of the oldest son, River, while Lysenko will play the youngest son, Rye.

‘Boo!’ VOD Review
Stars: Aurora Perrineau, Jaden Piner, Jill Marie Jones, Rob Zabrecky, Charley Palmer Rothwell | Written by Luke Jaden, Diane Michelle | Directed by Luke Jaden

Outside the big movies that everyone talks about and promotes, I try to go into as many horror movies as possible with knowing very little about them. So a quick look on IMDb before I viewed Boo! told me that it wasn’t in fact a comedy that I believed it was based on the title and poster I had seen.

It is about as far away from comedy as a horror could be to be honest, with a tone that felt a lot more like recent box office and critic hit, Hereditary. This story also centres on a dysfunctional family that includes mother, father, daughter and son and while I write this I see that it has a few more similarities with Hereditary! In Boo! this...

King Ripple Just Wants to Be Left Alone in this Creepy Sci-Fi Short
There are few things more fascinating than abandoned cities and writer-director Luke Jaden also believes this as he uses abandoned buildings in Detroit to create the setting of his short film King Ripple. It's a story about a young man with the power of a god who just wants to be left alone in his empty city. When you have the power of a god and want to be left alone, that often results in just killing everyone who is near you. It follows a group of kids who want to see if the story of King Ripple is true.

King Ripple is played by Keith Stanfield who was in Get Out as the dinner party guest who freaks out when he's photographed. The short is fascinating, with its narration and the stoic aura of the titular King Ripple. Check it out.

Saw Star Tobin Bell Cast in Stephen King's My Pretty Pony
Saw star Tobin Bell is set to star alongside Noah Jupe (Suburbicon) in a feature film adaptation of Stephen King's short story My Pretty Pony.

If you're not familiar with the story, it was published in 1989 and it follows an elderly man, "his death rapidly approaching, takes his young grandson up onto a hill behind his house and gives the boy his pocket watch. Then, standing among falling apple blossoms, the man also 'gives instruction' on the nature of time: how when you grow up, it begins to move faster and faster, slipping away from you in great chunks if you don't hold tightly onto it. Time is a pretty pony, with a wicked heart."

This is one of the few stories that I've never read of King's but I'm totally intrigued! Luke Jaden is directing the film from a script he adapted. Shooting will take place in Michigan this spring.

My Pretty Pony, which was first published in 1989 and later collected in Nightmares & Dreamscapes, tells the story of a dying old man who gives his young grandson his pocketwatch and instructs him on the nature of time. It's a fairly docile story when compared to some of King's more famous tales.

The story was originally written for a novel under King's Richard Bachman...

What's more, Jaden will star in the short alongside Keith Stanfield ("Short Term "12" and Snoop Dogg in "Straight Outta Compton"), who will portray the titular super-being. While the trailer isn't entirely clear on plot, it's heavy on atmosphere. Jaden, then 18, had recently wrapped his fourth film, "King Ripple." "Trying to be a teenage filmmaker or a young Orson Welles is kinda ridiculous. You have to follow your own path -- and some days it feels as if I just got dropped off on the side of the road going cross country along Route 66 and somehow got swept into this business," he wrote. Read More: What It's Like to Be a Teenage Filmmaker For his next film, Jaden has pulled off something few 19-year-olds (even Orson Welles) can boast: he managed to land an Oscar-nominated actor as the star.
