A Venice Film Festival premiere that just lit up SXSW, the provocative coming-of-age film stars stars Jack Irv, Dario Yazbek Bernal, Willem Dafoe, Peter Sarsgaard and Emmanuelle Seigner. Martin Scorsese, Jeremy O. Harris and Michel Franco (“New Order”) all serve as executive producers.

Bernal (Netflix’s “House of Flowers”) stars as Alejandro, the son of a Mexican crime lord on the run from his past in New York City. There he meets Jack (Irv), a 20-something living with his wealthy parents Francis (Dafoe) and Diana (Seigner) while working in a pet shop. In a haze of drugs and sex, Alejandro seduces Jack and drags him into the city’s criminal underbelly.

In the nearly one-and-a-half-minute sneak peek, which arrived just a day before the film is set to make its debut at the Venice Film Festival, Enzo Ferrari, played by Driver, is seen watching a driver test drive one of his vehicles. It also features his relationship with his wife Laura, played by Cruz, and his family life which is intercut with scenes showing cars racing across the Italian countryside into Rome. Enzo is seen crying at his son Alfredo's grave; while other moments capture a tumultuous marriage between Enzo and Laura. The pair show affection and argue as Enzo is also seen in bed with his mistress Lina Lardi, played by Shailene Woodley.

Michael Mann’s last outing as a feature film director was eight years ago with the cyber crime film Blackhat, starring Chris Hemsworth. Now, the director of such classic films as The Last of the Mohicans and Heat returns with the story of Enzo Ferrari. Ironically, Mann had executive produced James Mangold’s 2019 racing film, Ford v Ferrari, in which the Italian brand was the main competition for the film’s protagonists. SAG-AFTRA on Thursday named Neon’s Michael Mann-directed Ferrari as one of its latest recipients of an interim agreement for publicity.

The waiver allows the movie’s cast, which includes Adam Driver and Penélope Cruz, to publicize the feature at its Venice Film Festival world premiere, closing night at the New York Film Festival and other events at which the pic may screen.

Similar to indie studio A24, Neon is a non-amptp company and has encountered no hurdles in nabbing SAG-AFTRA interim agreements.

There are several applications of SAG-AFTRA interim agreements for indie features, addressing everything from casting to production and promotion.

Oscar-winner Howard directs “Thirteen Lives” centered on the mission to bring back 12 boys and their soccer coach who became trapped in the Tham Luang cave during an unexpected rainstorm. Colin Farrell and Viggo Mortensen portray real-life rescue divers John Volanthen and Richard Stanton, respectively, with Joel Edgerton, Tom Bateman, and Paul Gleeson also starring. “Thirteen Lives,” penned by William Nicholson, will premiere in theaters for one week starting July 29 before launching globally on Prime Video August 5.

Prime Video has released the first trailer for the ripped-from-the-headlines drama “Thirteen Lives,” Ron Howard’s upcoming film about the 2018 Tham Luang cave rescue.

In June and July 2018, the members of a junior football team were trapped for 18 days in Thailand’s Tham Luang Nang Non cave, after heavy rainfall flooded the cave system and blocked their way out. As the team – who ranged in age from 11-16 years old – and their coach remained trapped for weeks, the situation attracted global interest and an international rescue team was assembled to locate them. Howard’s film will chronicle the events of the rescue, focusing on the efforts of the divers to save the trapped team members.

MGM and Thirteen Lives director Ron Howard have firmed a big international cast to play the heroic rescuers who took part in a dangerous operation that cost one rescue diver — Thai Navy Seal Saman Gunan — his life. All of the boys, and the coach, were saved before floodwaters completely filled the caves.

Viggo Mortensen, Colin Farrell, and Joel Edgerton will star with Weir Sukollawat (Malila), Thiraphat Sajakul (The Serpent), Sahajak Boonthanakit (The Serpent), Vithaya Pansringarm (The Prey), Teeradon “James” Supapunpinyo (Bad Genius), Nophand Boonyai (Only God Forgives), Tom Bateman (Death on the Nile), Paul Gleeson (The Thin Red Line), and Lewis Fitz-Gerald (Pitch Black).

The film will shoot in Australia — with the support of the Australian and Queensland Governments — and also Thailand. Production begins this month. Thirteen Lives will be released theatrically in the U.

MGM has acquired the rights to “Thirteen Lives,” director Ron Howard’s drama about the 2018 Thai cave rescue operation, the studio announced Monday.

Howard will direct the film from a script written by William Nicholson, an Oscar nominee for “Gladiator,” and he’ll also produce on behalf of Imagine Entertainment along with Karen Lunder and Brian Grazer. Storyteller Productions’ P.J. van Sandwijk and Gabrielle Tana of Magnolia Mae will also produce.

The Tham Luang cave rescue captivated the world in 2018 when 12 members of a junior soccer team, aged 11 to 16, and their assistant coach entered into a cave after their practice and then became trapped after heavy rains flooded the cave. After a week of no contact at all, a rescue effort of over 10,000 people and more than 100 divers led a coordinated effort over 18 days to rescue the entire team and their coach, though a former Thai Navy Seal diver died in the effort.

Fathom Events reported a Tuesday night showing of “I Love Lucy: A Colorized Celebration” drew more than 60,000 attendees with an estimated $777,645 at 660 North American sites.

The take left the one-night showing in sixth place for the day at the domestic box office. “I Love Lucy: A Colorized Celebration” featured five episodes of “I Love Lucy,” along with a featurette on the colorization of the shows.

The showing took place on Ball’s 108th birthday. Fathom, which is operated by the AMC, Cinemark and Regal chains, said some locations adding showtimes and auditoriums to meet fan demand.
