Official Trailer for Sci-Fi Film 'Aporia' with Judy Greer & Edi Gathegi
Image
"We have this power, why shouldn't we use it?" "It's too risky." Well Go USA has revealed an official trailer for Aporia, an indie sci-fi thriller from filmmaker Jared Moshe. It's premiering soon at the 2023 Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal, which is why this trailer is dropping now. Opening in August to watch just after. Since losing her husband, Sophie has struggled to manage her grief, her job, and parenting her devastated daughter, but when a former physicist reveals a secret time-bending machine, Sophie will be faced with an impossible choice. He offers her a chance to restore her previous life, but of course, this kind of attempt to change history always comes with other dangerous consequences. Judy Greer stars with Payman Maadi, plus Edi Gathegi, Faithe Herman, Whitney Morgan Cox, and Rachel Paulson. It all seems familiar, rehashing the same "you can't change the past" story in so many other time machine movies.

Wendy Jo Carlton’s Good Kisser made a splash at last year’s Outfest LA and is now set to become available to the wider public through Netflix. The story of two women who try to spice up their relationship by arranging a threesome with another, it’s a witty drama which mixes comedy with some difficult emotional moments. Ahead of the release, I chatted to Wendy about the ideas underlying the film and how the story developed.

“The story in Good Kisser developed for me because of my own life experiences: relationships, romance, lust, attraction. I’m very drawn to trying to get to that visceral, sensual experience and honouring it. I think it’s very human and dramatic and exciting and universal. As a woman and as...

Outfest Opens With Documentary About Gay Porn Shops Circus of Books
RuPaul
Granted, the red carpet at the opening night of Outfest in Dtla may not have been the most star-studded but it was without a doubt the most diverse, inclusive and, yes, fabulous.

“I’ve never been here before,” admitted “RuPaul’s Drag Race” vet Trixie Mattel, who stars in the documentary “Moving Parts.” “It’s supposed to be the greatest film festival for Lgbtq+ content, but in my opinion, all the best films feature Lgbtq+ artists, directors, cameramen. I work on ‘Drag Race,’ where everybody behind the camera is a person of color or a queer person and it feels more like that tonight. It feels more like home.”

The opening night film was a documentary about the elderly suburban couple and their three kids who owned and operated the now-shuttered Circus of Books, two gay porn shops in West Hollywood and Silverlake. “We’re both Jewish, so when we grew up,...
