Goku is the strongest character in Dragon Ball, and he is an exceptional fighter who bows down to no one. However, money is something that even he needs to worry about, as we have frequently seen Chichi pester him about their financial position.
Unlike others, Goku does not have a traditional job and he mostly relies on his prize money from all the tournaments he wins. Apart from that, he is also shown to be a radish farmer who was forced into this role by his wife.
This is because the Ox king, Chichi’s father, lost all his wealth in a fire and, hence, cannot help them out anymore. Plus, the food cost of fighters like Goku and his offspring amounts to a huge sum of money that needs a consistent supply of income.
However, though Goku might not be rich like Bulma, he is not absolutely broke. There...

Although a minor character who rarely even appears in the main story, Goku's Grandpa Son Gohan was written in an incredibly unique way during the original Dragon Ball that could greatly benefit other characters if the same was applied to them. Unfortunately, the franchise has never replicated this type of dynamic again. Ironically, what resonates with me so much about Grandpa Gohan are the moments when he doesn't even appear. It's how numerous characters who Goku meets for the first time all happen to not only know but revere Gohan and consequently respect Goku more upon realizing he's Gohan's grandson.
Amplifying this is the fact that readers were already inclined to care about Grandpa Gohan or feel that he was relevant because he was the late grandfather of the series' main character, Goku. Our connection to Gohan was further intensified by Goku's sense of loss. Gohan had died years earlier,...

The fifth episode of Dragon Ball Daima undoubtedly excited fans who were displeased with Bulma once again taking a backseat when the series clearly positioned Goku's new companion, Panzy, as the next Bulma. Skeptics are more wary of this development, however, because Bulma is not so easily replaceable.
Although a clear homage to Gt, Daima is also lauded for being a retelling of the classic Dragon Ball series. In fact, some viewers have drawn comparisons between Panzy's father, Kadan, and the Ox King, especially since Kadan promised his daughter's hand in marriage to Goku, just like what happened with him and Chi-Chi. However, these comparisons are problematic because Panzy's personality clearly diverges from Bulma at the time of her debut, even though the Majin has claimed that her specialty is "tinkering with machines."

Goku is one of anime and manga's most beloved and instantly recognizable characters, and he is basically the universal mascot for both mediums in Japan and across the globe. Across Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Gt, and Dragon Ball Super, Goku has gone on countless adventures and encountered hundreds of friends and foes.
Of course, keeping characters consistent is a challenge for any writer, especially when they're the focal point of over 600 manga chapters, over 630 anime episodes, and several feature films. So naturally, Dragon Ball history features many moments where Goku acts strangely, breaking away from the characterization fans have come to expect.

Dragon Ball Super wasn’t originally in Akira Toriyama’s blueprint when he wrote the first chapter back in 1984. In fact, any arc after the first one wasn’t envisioned in his mind at all. The idea for Dragon Ball Super came from Toei Animation and Toriyama just joined the bandwagon, seeing how he needs to pull up the franchise’s name after Dragon Ball Evolution tarnished it.

The sequel has received quite a mixed bag of reviews. Some fans appreciated what it brought to the table, while others shrugged it off as a meaningless cash grab. However, the Tournament of Power got more fans invested in it, especially after Goku unleashed his Ultra Instinct. The whole world cheered on for Universe 7 as Goku pulled off one of the coldest Kamehamehas ever.

As Goku, Shin, and Glorio explore more of the Third Demon World, they took on a new ally in Dragon Ball Daima. Quick to reveal herself and remove her Great Saiyaman-esque concealment, Panzy is the latest addition to the party setting out to rescue Dende and stop Gomah's push for uncontested leadership over the collective Demon Realm. In Dragon Ball Daima though, Panzy's role is notably similar to that of Bulma, but some noteworthy quirks which help her stand out as a Demon Realm-based successor to Dragon Ball's tech genius.
Panzy is another of the Majin, or Demon Realm residents to showcase their eclectic abilities in Dragon Ball Daima, with her capabilities including those of magic and of mechanics. Panzy's points in common with Bulma don't necessarily suggest conflict, but two brilliant minds from different worlds being able to mingle and share ideas. In Dragon Ball Daima, Bulma and...

After the humble heights of "The Ox King on Fire Mountain," Dragon Ball is really hitting its sweet spot. Eight episodes in, Dragon Ball is still very much in its early courting phase as it attempts to turn curious audiences into life-long fans. Each episode feels progressively more like classic Dragon Ball, especially as the anime introduces diversely dangerous characters, highlights more of its heightened world, and edges closer to Goku and Bulma's original goal of collecting all seven Dragon Balls. "The Kamehameha Wave" is another episode that benefits from its simplicity, although there are still some major complications that create minor obstacles for the heroes.
There's a very satisfying cause and effect nature to this episode where each character serves a distinct purpose, making it increasingly rewarding to watch Dragon Ball connect its dots.

Akira Toriyamas Dragon Ball has already shown off so much soul and personality in only a handful of episodes. Its remarkable how fully formed this iconic shonen universe is when it begins, but its equally exciting to see it further expand and increasingly resemble its modern incarnation. After a relatively subdued and puerile previous episode, Dragon Ball is thankfully back to what it does best as Goku, Bulma, and Oolong reach Fire Mountain and within the vicinity of another Dragon Ball.
A temporary pit stop presents an enlightening opportunity for Goku and company that really gets them to flex their muscles as heroes and show what they can do. Theres a lot to digest in The Ox King on Fire Mountain, but an influx of new characters and quests is exactly what the series needs to light a fire quite literally under its growing cast. Akira Toriyamas Dragon Ball is full of unforgettable individuals who have become some of animes most celebrated characters. Vegeta, Piccolo, Gohan, and Frieza have become essential figures, but there would be no Dragon Ball without Goku. Dragon Ball has changed a lot over the years, but Goku has always been the franchises powerful protagonist and ultimate hero. Dragon Ball has chronicled Gokus evolution from a 12-year-old boy into a proud grandfather whos as strong as a God. Goku is determined to surpass his limits and theres no end to what this inspirational hero can accomplish.
Gokus most recent achievements, like his ascension to True Ultra Instinct strength or his victory over Planet-Eater Moro, are omnipresent and difficult to forget. That being said, Gokus earliest years and the characters unusual backstory receive much less attention. Its easy for these details to slip through the cracks and go overlooked. Gokus origins are...

Chi-Chi, once a formidable fighter in Dragon Ball, is brought back to her fighting roots in new fanart. The artist @DBSKAKERU1 is known for creating authentic-looking Dragon Ball sketches with manga-accurate style. Chi-Chi is portrayed in the artwork wearing a familiar orange gi and blue boots, ready for battle with a bo staff.
In Dragon Ball lore, Chi-Chi is a staple franchise character who has been at Goku’s side almost from the beginning of his decades-long journey to become the strongest warrior of all. And while Chi-Chi has more or less been relegated to a life of worrying over her family and making sure Gohan keeps up with his studying, she was once a formidable fighter who gave Goku a run for his money, with new fanart bringing Chi-Chi back to her fighting roots!

Dragon Ball is a beloved franchise for anime fans across the world. While the story may feel basic in today's shonen landscape, there is something about the series that seems to resonate with people no matter what. Some of that can be attributed to Akira Toriyama's blend of comedy and awesome battle scenes; even more can be attributed to the colorful cast of characters and how memorable they are. Goku and Vegeta are pretty much immediately recognizable even outside of anime circles and Dragon Ball has affected tons of different forms of media, from music to Western animation and everything in between.
There has long been a joke that Toriyama has a habit of forgetting about different characters from the earlier chapters of his manga. Launch is probably the most infamous example of this particular trend, with Toriyama almost entirely forgetting about her existence until much later in Dragon Ball Z....

The announcement of Dragon Ball Super: Broly back in 2018 caused an uproar among the franchise fanbase. The idea of screenwriter and series creator Akira Toriyama taking a non-canon character he didn't create and incorporating him into the series' main story meant that nothing was off-limits when it came to elements from Dragon Ball's past returning.
The positive critical reception to Broly's reinvention of its titular character led many fans to speculate about which other former non-canon Dragon Ball characters could be brought back. The most popular source of this speculation was Cooler, Frieza's brother and the second most popular villain from Dragon Ball Z's original movie run.

Son Goku isn't necessarily known for his sharp wit off the battlefield, but there was a time in early Dragon Ball when he was actually quite insightful to the point where he even outsmarted others by emulating what he had seen his companions do successfully. Though Goku is far from Dragon Ball's least intelligent fighter, it may surprise many to learn he started off much more intelligent
Of course, Goku wasn't always this way as a kid - and it didn't last that long either. Living alone with no human contact for years would have that effect on anyone. For Goku, his ignorance manifests in his severe naïveté, even after marrying and settling down with a family of his own. This often results in Goku being overly trusting of others and having difficulty gauging people's emotions or how to react appropriately during various social situations. Most fans understandably believe that Master Roshi began training Goku during the original Dragon Ball series because the young Saiyan could perform a kamehameha at such a young age. Even less also recall that Master Roshi was interested in taking Goku in as his pupil since he was Gohan's grandson. But there's actually another reason.
Goku's earlier decision to go out of his way to bring a talking turtle 120km back to the ocean and then save that same turtle from a sword-wielding anthropomorphic fox compels the turtle's owner, Master Roshi, to give Goku the Nimbus Cloud in Dragon Ball chapter 4 by Akira Toriyama. Later on during his quest for the Dragon Balls, Goku is promised by the Ox King that he will give Goku his Dragon Ball if he gets Roshi for him. The Ox King and Master Roshi's eventual reunion made possible by Goku's help is what leads...

Despite being one of the most important and influential relationships of the Dragon Ball franchise, the story of how Goku and ChiChi became "husband and wife" is unfortunately a low point in the anime's storytelling.
There are many reasons why anime adaptations of manga include filler arcs or storylines that are not included in the manga. For instance, filler arcs are often used when there are differences between the manga and anime scheduling where they both arrive at the same point in the story. Filler arcs are produced to "fill" the time it will take for the manga to create new content. Generally, since filler arcs are not canon, and tend to tell stories that take the story in unheard-of directions, fans tend to dislike them. However, just because they are disliked by fans does not mean that they are inherently bad. Indeed, some filler arcs such as Dragon Ball Z...
