Exclusive: Lance Lim (School of Rock) is set for a recurring role in the current third season of CBS’ action crime drama Magnum P.I.

Lim will portray Dennis, the son of Det. Gordon Katsumoto (Tim Kang).

Starring Jay Hernandez, Magnum P.I. follows Thomas Magnum, a private investigator and former Navy Seal, who solves crimes in the state after returning home from Afghanistan and repurposing his military skills. Perdita Weeks, Zachary Knighton, Stephen Hill, Kang and Amy Hill also star.

Peter M. Lenkov, Eric Guggenheim, Justin Lin, John Davis, John Fox and Danielle Woodrow are executive producers for CBS Studios and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.

Lim is known for his roles on School of Rock, Speechless and The Stranded. He was also seen in Independence Day: Resurgence and, most recently the Netflix film Hubie Halloween with Adam Sandler and Kevin James. He is repped by The Park Noack Agency.

– The Orchard has acquired the rights to “Kings,” the drama starring Halle Berry and Daniel Craig and directed by Deniz Gamze Ergüven, Deadline reports. The film focuses on a foster family in South Central a few weeks before the city erupts in violence following the verdict of the Rodney King trial in 1992.

Ergüven previously directed “Mustang,” which received an Oscar nomination in 2015 for Best Foreign Language Film. Charles Gilbert and Vincent Maraval served as the producers on “Kings.”

Open Road Films has acquired U.S. rights to the animated family comedy “Duck Duck Goose,” featuring the voices of Zendaya, Jim Gaffigan and Lance Lim, from Original Force. The announcement was made Wednesday by Tom Ortenberg, CEO of Open Road Films and Harley Zhao, President and CEO of Original Force. Original Force produced and financed the animated film. “Duck Duck Goose” is directed by Christopher Jenkins and written by Jenkins and Rob Muir. Penney Finkelman Cox and Sandra Rabins produced. The School of Rock will be in session for another year. Nickelodeon has picked up a supersized 20-episode third season of the popular musical comedy series based on the 2003 Paramount movie. Production is scheduled to begin in early 2017.

The pickup comes as the series, developed by Jim and Steve Armogida, is heading toward its Season 2 finale on January 28. Originally ordered straight-to-series, School of Rock landed a quick 13-episode Season 2 renewal four episodes into its 12-episode freshman run. A solid ratings performer, the series is averaging 1.4 million total viewers in its second season, and is posting double-digit year-over-year increases with its kid audience. In Q4, it ranks as one of the top five shows on all TV with kids 6-11.

Among its executive producers is Eli Bush. Bush co-produced The Newsroom TV series, which was cancelled by HBO after three seasons.

There's a little good news for fans of NBC's cancelled sitcom Growing Up Fisher. The network is finally getting around to airing the last two episodes.

Growing Up Fisher follows an unorthodox family that becomes closer after the parents divorce. The cast includes Elfman, J. K. Simmons, Eli Baker, Ava Deluca-Verley, and Lance Lim. Jason Bateman is the show's narrator.

The show was cancelled earlier this month due to low ratings. The network only ordered 13 episodes of the mid-season replacement series and the last two episodes have been scheduled and then bumped twice.

The peacock network has now made room for the final episodes on Wednesday, June 11th, at 8pm. They'll be followed by an NBC News special called "The People Vs. O.J. Simpson: What the Jury Never Heard."

Growing Up Fisher follows an unorthodox family that becomes closer after the parents divorce. The cast includes Elfman, J. K. Simmons, Eli Baker, Ava Deluca-Verley, and Lance Lim. Jason Bateman is the show's narrator.

The sitcom started off with okay ratings -- at least when compared to NBC's other comedies. They dropped over the course of the season however and hit a new series low this week with a 1.2 demo rating and 5.05 million total viewers. That surely didn't help this show's chances.

There are two unaired episodes remaining and NBC has announced that they will air in a one-hour block on Wednesday, May 28th.

Jenna Elfman's last NBC sitcom, 1600 Penn, only lasted one short season because of low ratings. Will Growing Up Fisher be cancelled as well or will it be renewed for a second season instead? Stay tuned.

NBC has decided to change the name of their new mid-season sitcom from The Family Guide to Growing Up Fisher.

The comedy revolves around family members who become closer following a divorce. The cast includes J.K. Simmons, Eli Baker, Ava Deluca-Verley and Lance Lim. Parker Posey starred as the family's mother in the pilot but that role is being recast.

The series is being executive produced by creator D.J. Nash, Jim Garavente, and Jason Bateman (who's also the sitcom's narrator).
