Dwight Howard recently talked about some grueling aspects of Dancing With the Stars, including long practices.
While appearing on Gilbert Arenas’ podcast, Gil’s Arena, he indicated he spent nine hours the other day practicing dances.
“I done lost 15 pounds just dancing,” Howard admitted, adding, “I’m cut up out of lifting weights every day.”
Howard also spoke about his harrowing ordeal during another reality TV competition show.
According to Howard, he experienced “Ptsd” after he participated in Fox’s Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test.
The former Los Angeles Lakers star and NBA Champion revealed his time on that show included all sorts of challenging experiences, such as being “kidnapped and set on fire.”

Trinity Rodman’s spectacular debut goal highlighted the U.S. women’s national team’s commanding 3-0 victory over Zambia in their Olympic opener Thursday night.
Rodman, the daughter of basketball star Dennis Rodman, made her first Olympic appearance, showcasing her skill with a remarkable spin move in the 17th minute, leaving defender Martha Tembo off-balance before calmly slotting the ball past Zambian goalkeeper Ngambo Musole.
“It was purely instinctual,” Rodman said of her move, which she dubbed the “Trin Spin.” “I knew taking a touch forward would have pushed me out of scoring position, so I tried to throw her off balance. It worked perfectly.”

Alyssa Thompson, the youngest player on the 2023 United States women’s national soccer team (Uswnt) to compete in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, kept a speech from team captain Alex Morgan close to her heart after the rattling tie game with Portugal that ended the team’s shaky group stage performance in the summer tournament.
The match versus Portugal, the third of the group stage, featured in the penultimate and final episodes of Rebecca Gitlitz’s Netflix docuseries, “Under Pressure: The U.S Women’s National Team,” along with retired captain Carli Lloyd’s criticism of the team’s performance in the final group stage match. U.S. Women’s National Team soccer coach Vlatko Andonovski has resigned, according to multiple reports, after failing to lead the squad past the Round of 16 at the FIFA Women’s World Cup. The powerhouse U.S team had previously never done worse than third place in the tournament, and were going for a third consecutive title and fifth overall this year.
Andonovski had many questioning his reliance on players such as Megan Rapinoe, who hadn’t played much before the tournament and seemed off in her play, corner kicks and, certainly, one vital penalty kick.
In the team’s Round of 16 game, which ended with a penalty shootout versus Sweden, strikes from players on both sides were poor, with several players missing the target including Rapinoe. Sweden won that contest 5-4 in penalties and advanced, eliminating the U.S. team which had entered the competition with the world No.

U.S. soccer legend Carli Lloyd blasted the U.S. Women’s national team after a lackluster 0-0 tie today in the final group stage match against a game Portugal squad.
The U.S. outshot Portugal 17-6, but was almost eliminated from the tournament when a strike from Portuguese sub Ana Capeta hit the right post in extra minutes.
Lloyd, speaking on the Fox Soccer aftershow was very clear how close the No. 1 ranked, reigning 2-time champion U.S. women came to being eliminated and how little they had to do in preventing that catastrophe.
“The player of the match was that post. You’re lucky not to be going home right now.”

Soccer great Carli Lloyd definitely questioned her decision when she arrived for the filming of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test for Fox. There wasn’t any time to prepare for the extreme heat and effort required to perform quasi-military training exercises for the entertainment of TV viewers.
“I didn’t even understand fully what I was getting into until after the contract was signed,” Lloyd said during a panel with fellow contestants Hannah Brown and Kenya Moore at Deadline’s Contenders Television: Documentary + Unscripted event. “And then once the little snippets of what we were up against came through, I had a little second-guessing. We literally no idea.”
Fellow “recruit” Brown, a former Bachelorette on ABC, was equally gobsmacked by what was in store for her and her fellow celebrity competitors, a list that included Jamie Lynn Spears, Mel B, Dwight Howard, Mike Piazza, Kate Gosselin and Moore. The show...

Ahead of the 2022 Qatar World Cup, soccer’s governing body FIFA is launching a free streaming service.
The organization says FIFA+ will provide access to thousands of live and archive matches, news and tournament information and a suite of original series from the likes of Fulwell 73, Andrew and Stuart Douglas, and England striker turned broadcaster Gary Lineker’s Goalhanger Films.
FIFA claims this makes it the first sports federation to offer such an extensive streaming service, with the organization’s President Gianni Infantino saying it represents “a cultural shift in the way different types of football fans want to connect with and explore the global game”.
The service launches today in five languages, with an additional six following in June. At launch, it’ll be available on web and cellular devices, with other connected devices following.

Right on the heels of her bronze medal win at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Carli Lloyd has announced that she's changing her goals. The U.S. Women's Soccer Team player said in a statement on Monday, Aug. 16 that she's retiring. "When I first started out with the National Team in 2005, my two main goals were to be the most complete soccer player I could be and to help the team win championships," she said, adding, "Every single day I stepped out onto the field, I played as if it was my last game. I never wanted to take anything for granted, especially knowing how hard it is to get to the top, but even harder to stay at the top for so long." Lloyd's last...

When the 2020 Tokyo Olympics were postponed, Carli Lloyd found herself with some extra time to heal—not only from a knee injury she'd suffered that year but also from a decade-long rift she'd had with her family. "I don't know what would've happened if the Olympics actually went on in 2020," the two-time World Cup champion told Today. "Would they have been a part of it? Would I have rekindled the relationship with them? I don't know. I'm just happy now that we are in the place that we are, and everybody feels good about it." As Lloyd shared in her 2016 book, When Nobody Was Watching: My Hard-Fought Journey to the Top of the Soccer World, she had been...

Peacock, whose 2020 rollout initially was predicated on the Summer Olympics in Tokyo, had to switch gears when Covid-19 forced the postponement of the Games to 2021.
On Wednesday, the NBCUniversal streaming service launched a dedicated pop-up channel with one year to go before the rescheduled start of the Tokyo Games. The 24/7 “Road to Tokyo” channel, a collaboration with NBC Olympics, is dedicated to Olympic and Paralympic history, documentaries and studio programming.
As the news of the channel went out, the atmosphere was notably less ebullient in Japan, according to press reports. A small group of organizers gathered without fans for a ceremony marking the one-year mark from the new start of the Games, but participants acknowledged a high degree of uncertainty remains. The president of the Olympic organizing committee, Yoshiro Mori, told local broadcaster Nhk that the 2021 plan would not be feasible if current rates of infection persist around the world.
