The Cannibal genre is an odd one. You're either with it or against it, and that all depends on your taste for quality meat. Most vegans will surely turn away in disgust. But if you like your steaks raw and with very little seasoning, then boy, do we have a tasty horror treat for you. Today, we have the first trailer for Buzzard Hollow Beef.
On the surface it looks like your standard Hills Have Eyes knock-off. But there is something much more sinister lurking under this tale of a family who experiences vivid hallucinations at a special dinner. They soon come to believe that they've been poisoned by the local cannibalistic hillbillies who are hunting them for a fresh food supply. Our own reviewer Evan 'Mushy' Jacobs recently got invited to an old barn out in the middle of nowhere to watch the soon-to-be indie horror classic on an...

With a title that could very well be a product at a local A&P in Connecticut, it would be easy to dismiss Buzzard Hollow Beef as one of 'those' horror movies. People in the woods. Cannibal hillbillies. A story that only exists to deliver a kill count. And in some ways, Buzzard Hollow Beef is 'one of those horror movies' and that is precisely why it works.
Buzzard Hollow Beef follows the classic scary movie trope of people going to a home in a remote area for a little R&R. There's obviously two guys and two girls as well some other people thrown together in this idyllic setting. Amidst this setting are the townies who are, of course, a bit weird. The fact that they will eventually confront a family of cannibalistic hillbillies (or is it each other?), who also happen to control the local meat supply, only...

One of our favorites from the festival line-up is writer/director Tara Hall's Envy, which will screen Saturday, November 10th, in the afternoon. This provocative black comedy delves into gender stereotypes, offering a shocking expose on what might happen if a mild mannered girlfriend spontaneously sprouted a penis over night. Here, our heroine uses her newfound prowess to...
