    • Alex J Ankrom was born and raised in Pennsylvania. He earned two degrees from Boston University: a BA in Political Science & Philosophy and an MFA in Creative Writing. He also has an MFA in Screenwriting from The American Film Institute. He has been a semifinalist in the Final Draft Big Break Contest and a multiple semifinalist and quarter finalist for the Nicholl Fellowship. He writes crime, horror, comedy, scifi for short stories, novels, television, film, and comic books.

  • Alex J. Ankrom, 31, formerly of Boyertown, died Saturday, December 5, 2015, in Anaheim Regional Hospital, Anaheim, Calif., as a result of heart complications. He was born May 6, 1984, in Pottstown. Surviving, in addition to his parents, is his loving sister, Lyddia April Louise Ankrom of Anaheim. He was a 2002 graduate of Boyertown Area Senior High, a 2006 graduate of Boston University with a bachelor of science degree in political science/philosophy, a 2008 graduate of Boston University with a master's degree in creative writing and a 2011 graduate of American Film Institute with a master's degree in screenwriting. He stayed in California following his studies at American Film Institute to pursue a career as a writer. The writing bug hit him while attending college and never stopped because he always wanted the last word. He was an Academy Nicholl Fellowship semifinalist and quarterfinalist plus a Final Draft semifinalist for screenwriting. There will be no services. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Melissa Barnhart Kidney Transplant Fund, P.O. Box 357, Carmichaels, PA 15320.
