‘A Man on the Inside’ Season 2 is a Family Affair

Oscar winner Mary Steenburgen is joining her husband, Ted Danson, on season two of Netflix’s A Man on the Inside. Season one held a spot on Netflix’s Top 10 English TV list for five weeks and earned a second season order a month after its November 2024 premiere.

According to the streamer, Steenburgen will play Mona Margadoff, “a former musician who factors heavily in the case Charles is trying to solve.” Ted Danson reprises his role as Charles. Netflix hasn’t announced the full cast of the upcoming season or a target premiere date.

The season one cast included Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Stephanie Beatriz, Lilah Richcreek Estrada, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Sally Struthers, Margaret Avery, John Getz, and Susan Ruttan. Lori Tan Chinn, Clyde Kusatsu, Marc Evan Jackson, Jama Williamson, Wyatt Yang, Deuce Basco, Lincoln Lambert, and Kerry O’Malley also starred.

Variety Picks Up 8 First-Place Wins at L.A. Press Club’s SoCal Journalism Awards, Including Entertainment Journalist of the Year for Brent Lang

Variety won eight first-place awards Sunday night at the Los Angeles Press Club’s 66th annual SoCal Journalism Awards, including a top win for executive editor Brent Lang as entertainment journalist of the year.

Variety came into the 2024 ceremony with 74 nominations, representing work published by staffers online or in the weekly print edition during the 2023 calendar year.

Lang led the list of staff wins by picking up three awards in all. Besides his entertainment journalist of the year trophy, Lang also won for personality profile/magazines for his cover story on Michael J. Fox, and he shared the award for entertainment feature/TV with Tatiana Siegel and Matt Donnelly for their story “Showstopper! Strikes Plunge Hollywood Into Chaos With Pricey Movie Delays, Pay Battles and AI Anxiety.”

Muhammad Ali Fight Night Heist Drama Series Starring Kevin Hart Lands Series Order At Peacock

The story of an infamous armed robbery after Muhammad Ali’s historic 1970 comeback fight is heading to streaming.

Kevin Hart will star in, and produce, Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist, which has landed a series order at Peacock. It is based on the eponymous podcast and comes from Shaye Ogbonna and Will Packer.

It will tell the story of how on the night of Ali’s defeat of Jerry Quarry, which came after he was banned from boxing for refusing to enter the military draft, hundreds of guests at an after-party were robbed at gunpoint, becoming one of the largest armed robberies the country has ever seen.
