‘Wolves’ Stalks the Line Between Truth and Horror
Image
Danny Dunlop’s Wolves, an eerie psychological thriller inspired by true events, is poised to make an impact on audiences with its unsettling exploration of the thin line between victim and perpetrator. The film, starring Mark Nocent, Jake Raymond, and Allan Dobrescu, captures the journey of a young recluse who inadvertently stumbles onto a string of unsolved cold cases, only to find himself spiralling deeper into society’s dark underbelly.

Drawing inspiration from a real-life series of unsolved animal deaths in Dunlop’s hometown of London, Ontario, the film’s plot channels a sense of impending dread and unease. These animal deaths were widely considered a public emergency, as experts warned that such recurring violence against animals is often a precursor to more dangerous behaviour, including human killings. ‘Salem Horror Fest’ 2023 Event Report – Tony Todd Kicks Off Festival with Special ‘Candyman’ Screening

She briefly outlined the evolution of Salem Horror, which was born out of her desire for catharsis after the 2016 election.

With folk horror being a common theme among some of this year’s programming, Kier-La Janisse was enlisted to deliver a keynote address. Much like how her essential documentary,...
