Celebrities grace the Red Carpet at World Premiere of first ever ‘BollyBrit’ film, Naachle London
Celebrities, cast and crew members of the first ever ‘BollyBrit’ film, Naachle London, graced the Red Carpet at the World Premiere on Wednesday 22nd February at Cineworld Feltham. In attendance were key cast and crew members from the groundbreaking film project, including: British screen heartthrob, Jake Canuso (ITV’s Benidorm and Shameless); actor/comedian Kulvinder Ghir (Rita, Sue and Bob Too, Goodness Gracious Me); model/actress Fagun Thakrar; sensational debutante Alyssa Sharma; junior artists Gursimran Deu, Aaron Pandher and Shiv Datta; writer/broadcaster Farrukh Dhondy; and the film’s producer and director Neville Raschid (Lost Dogs, Ealing Comedy).

Cast dance in real downpour on the sets of ‘BollyBrit’ film, Naachle London
On one of the filming days for Naachle London, director Neville Raschid was anticipating a glorious, sunny day at Kew Gardens in preparation of outdoor scenes, as well as inside the infamous Greenhouse. But once the crew began shooting the sequences inside the Greenhouse, the heavens opened up, inducing the wettest day of the year instead of the hottest!

As the crew were setting up between shots, British screen heartthrob Jake Canuso informed Neville that he was happy to dance in the rain and duly stepped outside. Neville then asked Fagun Thakrar, Jake’s co-star, and she was equally willing to take up the challenge, after looking outside to see Jake already getting his hair wet and practicing his moves in the downpour. And by pure serendipity, some of the most stunning shots of the film were created… with entirely natural rain and no need for rain machines!

BollySpice at the press conference of the first ever Bolly-Brit film ‘Naachle London’
The writers at Bollyspice were invited to an exclusive press conference for the first ever Bollywood/British film Naachle London – effectively a British production, but heavily inspired from old school Bollywood with relevant doses of melodrama, music, dance and family values. The film is directed by Neville Raschid (Ealing Comedy, Lost Dogs) and stars Raj Ghatak, Jake Canuso, Fagun Thakrar, Alyssa Sharma and Sofia Hayat.

The film tells the clichéd yet ever appealing tale of a rich girl and a not so well-to-do boy falling in love against parental opposition. At the same time, it cleverly weaves current issues like the recession, interracial relationships, and the complexities behind broken homes in Asian communities with the obligatory stylised, catchy musical numbers which are a pre-requisite for any mainstream Bollywood film today.

Heralding the debut of an exciting genre in British filmmaking, dynamic, Asian family business-driven, UK-based production and distribution company, Aviary Films, launches the first ever ‘BollyBrit’ film – Naachle London – a unique cinematic offering that presents a British take on the classic Bollywood genre, releasing in UK on 24th February 2012.

A feelgood, romantic comedy drama centring around two single parents that meet and fall in love when their children attend a West London, Bollywood dance class in preparation of a competition at the London Mela, Naachle London will appeal to cinemagoers of all ages and backgrounds.
