Prime Video makes the Invincible announcement we knew was coming
Image
Prime Video’s Invincible completed its third season with a heck of a finale. Mark Grayson (a.k.a. Invincible) has the toughest fight of his life with a Viltrumite named Conquest. Conquest is a warrior whose need for violence is excessively creepy. Even worse was that Mark had to watch as he killed his girlfriend, Eve. Luckily, her abilities resurrect her. She immediately shoots Conquest with her powers, and Mark finishes the job.

Things get worse for Mark on a professional and personal level. Cecil Stedman lies to him about Conquest being alive, Damien Darkblood plots something dark with one of the lords of Hell, and Mark has sworn to kill anyone who threatens his family.

Season 4 should get into everything that was mentioned and more, but that’s not the end of Invincible’s story. Not by a long shot. Thankfully, fans can rest easy knowing that the...

Invincible's New Spinoff is Already A Huge Success, As Capes Return From The Dead
Image
At his San Diego Comic-Con 2025 panel, Robert Kirkman just announced the return of his early 2000s superhero series Capes, which preceded Invincible, and was eventually incorporated into the fictional world of the latter series. Now, Kirkman is going back to his early idea, with decades of creative experience under his belt, to give it another shot.

Capes #1, written by Robert Kirkman, is set to hit shelves in November. At Comic-Con, the author teased the new series with a cover by artists Ryan Ottley and Dave McCaig.

Often overlooked in comparison to Kirkman’s hit series The Walking Deadand Invincible, Capes is ready to make an impact on a much wider audience this time.

Does Youngblood's $500,000 Milestone Represent a Seismic Change for the Entire Comic Industry?
Image
Rob Liefeld just sold a direct-to-consumer copy of Youngblood #1 for $500,000. Liefeld himself is just coming off the heels of a public spat with Marvel Comics that left his career as a writer/artist in question. Now, by embarking on independent avenues, Liefeld has made it clear that there are new ways for him to find success.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rob Liefeld launched a bespoke, direct-to-consumer version of Youngblood #1 that he made available to his fanbase via her website last April, generating $500,000 through five editions with different covers. Liefeld had this to say to THR:

I believe comic book talent, just like the studios, need different revenue streams. Direct to consumer is a giant revenue stream. When Marvel and DC decide to tap that vein that I just tapped into, it will be massive.

It's also worth noting that THR's report arrives with exclusive cover images from Erik M.

Rob Liefeld’s ‘Youngblood’ No. 1 Passes $500,000 in Sales, New Edition Planned
Image
Hollywood has taken some of Rob Liefeld’s creations and put them on the big screen. Now, he is taking lessons from Hollywood for his latest comic. Liefeld has watched as in recent years, with the box office struggling, revenues from ancillary markets have become more important for the lifecycle of a movie. (See: Wicked’s massive $100 million PVOD sales.)

For Youngblood No. 1, Liefeld tried a similar tactic. He launched a bespoke, direct to consumer version of the book that he sold directly to fans on his website in April. The experiment worked and now reveals to The Hollywood Reporter that the book generated $500,000 in sales across five editions featuring different covers.

“I believe comic book talent, just like the studios, need different revenue streams,” says Liefeld. “Direct to consumer is a giant revenue stream. When Marvel and DC decide to tap that vein that I just tapped into, it will be massive.

Matthew Rhys podría ser Thragg. © Prime Video

Invincible Creator Teases Season 4, Tells Fans To Worry
Image
Invinciblecreator Robert Kirman tells fans they "should be worried" about where the series' fourth season is headed.

Speaking to Deadline, Kirkman was asked to discuss the dynamic between Mark Grayson's Invincible and his younger brother, Oliver, the latter of whom shows some seriously dangerous and destructive proclivities in his own crime-fighting endeavors. "I think it's good to give Mark as many outside influences as possible," Kirkman said. "Oliver has the same dad but is from an alien world. As Mark interacts with Oliver, he gets to see how Oliver sees the world versus how Mark sees the world. So, it's an interesting contrast to see how someone who has superpowers, who shares the same father, and who lives in the same house can have a wildly different view."

"For Mark, his feelings can sometimes be scary when he seemingly agrees with some of the crazy things that Oliver is saying.

The Walking Dead Show Creator Robert Kirkman Would Make If He Got The Rights Back
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

Just like any good zombie, "The Walking Dead" won't stay down. Since the debut of "The Walking Dead" comic in 2003, it's become one of the biggest non-superhero comics out there, and the TV adaptation that launched on AMC in 2010 took that popularity even higher. Though "The Walking Dead" ended its 11-season, 177-episode run in 2022, it lives on in spin-offs such as "Dead City" and "Daryl Dixon."

Image Comics is also currently reprinting original black-and-white "Walking Dead" comics (which wrapped in 2019) in full color and with new cover art as "The Walking Dead Deluxe." The new issues include all-new letters columns in the back of the books, where the creators answer questions from readers who wrote in. In "The Walking Dead Deluxe" #85, Noel Julian from Puerto Rico wrote in asking:

"I've been thinking about how great the Invincible show is and...

How Robert Kirkman wrote Invincible and The Walking Dead concurrently
Image
Robert Kirkman is one of the biggest names in comics. Over the years, he's written The Walking Dead (which is arguably the world's biggest zombie franchise) and the superhero comic Invincible (also known to the masses thanks to its ongoing animated adaptation at Prime Video). How has he managed to make waves on all fronts, become a partner of Image Comics, and also produce AMC's The Walking Dead TV show along the way?

Well, the good news is that no, Kirkman has not duplicated himself. There's not a dozen Robert Kirkmans locked away on typewriters. He's just terribly efficient at his job. "You write a comic in three days usually, and so you're talking about six days of the month, sometimes 10, sometimes 15, depending on if an issue gets hard to write, but at worst you're talking about half of a month focused on those two comics,' he told SlashFilm.

How Robert Kirkman Wrote Invincible And The Walking Dead At The Same Time For 15 Years [Exclusive]
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

Robert Kirkman is definitely one of the superstar writers in modern American comics. He broke out writing at the publisher Image Comics, thanks to his superhero book "Invincible" and his zombie apocalypse comic "The Walking Dead."

Both "Invincible" and "The Walking Dead" are some of the biggest and most successful comics that exist outside the Marvel/DC duopoly. They're not just popular among comic fans, they've broken into the mainstream with popular TV adaptations too. "The Walking Dead" TV series is AMC's golden goose (just look at all the spin-offs) and "Invincible" has been adapted into a cartoon on Prime Video. ("Invincible" season 4 and more are on the way.)

Kirkman co-creating "Invincible" and "The Walking Dead" is already an achievement. You know what makes it even more impressive? That he wrote both series for about 15 years — and not just any 15 years,...

"Invincible" is on its scheduled seasonal break right now. However, original writer/co-creator of the comic Robert Kirkman has jumped back into the "Invincible" universe with his artist partner Ryan Ottley. Kirkman and Ottley are authoring a new ongoing comic book series, "Invincible Universe: Battle Beast." Set between "Invincible" issues #19-55, the series follows the catlike alien warrior as he searches the universe for a worthy opponent.

Skybound let me speak with Kirkman and Ottley for "Invincible Universe: Battle Beast," which recently published its first issue. During our conversation, we naturally turned to "Invincible" season 4, which is set to arrive in 2026. I asked if there are any moments they're especially excited to see animated in upcoming seasons. "'Viltrumite War' and I mean, so many things I want to see," Ottley replied. "Yeah, I can't wait."

Invincible Creator Robert Kirkman Promises "New Characters, New Worlds" Will Be Added To Canon Soon

Warning! Spoilers ahead for Invincible Universe: Battle Beast #1!

Fans asked, and Robert Kirkman answered, as the Invinciblecreator has confirmed that the Battle Beast spin-off series, which debuts this week, is just the beginning of a greater expansion of the franchise's comic book universe, with Kirkman promising “new characters, new concepts,” and “new worlds” being added to the Invincible mythos, some of which will take readers by surprise.

Invincible Universe: Battle Beast #1, written by Robert Kirkman, with art by Ryan Ottley, is the official return to the comic canon of the franchise, reuniting the co-creators of the original series for a story following one of their greatest creations.

Referring to Battle Beast as “one of [their] favorite characters,” Kirkman noted that while the great thing about the series, first and foremost, is the way it expands its protagonist’s lore, he also teased bigger things ahead for the world of Invincible.

What Happens To Oliver Grayson In The Invincible Comics
Image
As Mark Grayson (voiced by Steven Yeun) and his allies keep finding out, the world of "Invincible" is not your everyday superhero universe. With all-powerful Viltrumites and all forms of threats both earthly and cosmic running rampant, humanity's fate is eternally at stake in the Prime Video series. This makes it all the more frustrating when Mark's younger half-brother, Oliver "Kid Omni-Man" Grayson (Christian Convery), keeps adding to the chaos with the very peculiar and pragmatic outlook that comes with his Viltrumite-Thraxan upbringing and unfamiliarity with human customs like "thinking twice before killing people, regardless of what they've done."

Or so it might seem. Despite Oliver's potential as an annoying kid character extraordinaire, he -- like so many other "Invincible" characters -- soon establishes himself as a far more complex presence than his first impressions would suggest. The "Invincible" season 3 finale's battle against the villainous Conquest (Jeffrey Dean Morgan...

How Did Invincible's Battle Beast End Up In Prison? It's Kind Of A Long Story [Exclusive]

"Invincible" the comic may have ended years ago, but its time in the sun hasn't passed yet. Prime Video's "Invincible" animated series opened up the story to a wider audience than ever before. "Invincible" season 3 came to an exhilarating conclusion earlier this year, and season 4 is due to premiere sometime in 2026.

But in the meantime, series' co-creator/writer Robert Kirkman and artist Ryan Ottley are going back to the "Invincible" universe. The pair has a new ongoing comic series on the horizon, titled "Invincible Universe: Battle Beast," starring the eponymous feline alien warrior.

Battle Beast has already appeared in the "Invincible" cartoon, voiced by Michael Dorn (most famous as Worf from "Star Trek"). Skybound Entertainment has shared a preview of "Invincible Universe: Battle Beast" #1 with /Film. I also got to speak with Kirkman and Ottley about this new series.

Invincible Season 4: Everything We Know So Far
Image
Spoilers ahead for "Invincible."

"Invincible" has concluded its third and latest season, but rest assured, Prime Video has already renewed it for a fourth season. The animated series is based on the original comics by Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker (who drew the earliest issues), and Ryan Ottley (who took over as artist starting from "Invincible #8). Published at Image Comics, "Invincible" ran for 144 issues between 2003-2018.

Both versions of the story follow teenage superhero Mark Grayson (voiced by Steven Yeun in the cartoon). He's the son of Nolan Grayson (J.K. Simmons), aka Omni-Man. Hailing from the planet Viltrum, Omni-Man is the greatest superhero in the world. After he turns 17, Mark inherits his father's Viltrumite gifts of strength, flight, and longevity, and becomes the superhero named (of course) Invincible. Mark has to balance family, hero work, and ultimately his inherited legacy when Omni-Man turns out to be not so benevolent after all.

The Walking Dead's Weirdest Storyline Turned Rick Grimes Into A Superhero
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

Even though "The Walking Dead" comic series ran for 16 years and 193 issues, it never answered the most fundamental question it posed: How did the zombie apocalypse start? A virus? A bio-weapon? Something supernatural?

Series co-creator and writer Robert Kirkman included an origin for the outbreak in his pitch, but it wasn't something he ever intended to use. What origin was that? Aliens! To give "The Walking Dead" a more unique hook beyond just zombies, Kirkman pitched that the series would eventually reveal that aliens began raising the dead to soften Earth up for an invasion.

"The Walking Dead" ultimately didn't need more than zombies and some great writing to become a bestseller. So, in turn, Kirkman didn't have to use the alien invasion story, and aliens never showed up in "The Walking Dead" -- or did they?

The non-canon story...

The Entire Invincible Timeline Explained
Image
Amazon Prime Video's "Invincible" has become one of the most beloved superhero series ever made. Based on the Image Comics series by Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley, it tells a familiar story of capes and costumes but with a unique willingness to explore how people in such a world might behave and grow over time.

Even just three seasons in, the show's chronology has become incredibly complicated, technically spanning from the dawn of man through to some distant potential future with a mad king (and this is before we address the various alternate realities introduced in season 2). As we await the arrival of season 4 sometime next year, we've taken another look at the series as a whole to piece together the story so far. Grab your Burger Mart, cause this might take a bit. This is the entire "Invincible" timeline, explained.

MTV's Original Invincible Animated Series Is Impossible To Watch Today
Image
"Invincible" is currently one of the biggest superhero shows, with the season 3 finale becoming one of the highest-rated episodes of television ever on IMDb. This is especially surprising considering that — as much as the narrative and the characters were praised from the beginning — the animation for the first season was heavily criticized as being stiff, wonky, and overall a huge letdown.

Still, the praise is deserved. The Wind Sun Sky Entertainment and Skybound Animation show is an adaptation of the Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley comic of the same name, and is unlike any superhero story in either TV or film. It follows teenager Mark Grayson as he grows into a proper superhero named Invincible and learns the consequences of being superstrong and powerful while he discovers the threat of an alien empire hellbent on conquering Earth. In many ways, the show is a "Spider-Man" cartoon — down to...

Invincible's Damien Darkblood, Explained
Image
Damien Darkblood is a demon detective from Image Comics who made his debut in the pages of Invincible #8 (by Robert Kirkman and Ryan Ottley). Originally investigating the murder of the Guardians of the Globe, the demon mysteriously disappeared in Invincible #16 and was never heard from again. While Darkblood would also appear in a couple of issues of the Astonishing Wolf-Man series, his involvement with the Invincible Universe was never again acknowledged.

There are many factors that may have contributed to Damien Darkblood's exclusion from the series, but he has remained a loose thread in the Invincible comics that fans have pondered over for years. However, Prime Video's Invincible Season 3 final has brought the character back into an all-new role that may shed more light on this comic mystery. While the end credits scene featuring Damien Darkblood is completely new for the show, there may be some evidence from the comics...

Invincible Creator Explains How a Scrapped Comic Storyline Will Make the TV Show Even Better
Image
Spoilers for Invincible Season 3, Episode 8, "I Thought You'd Never Shut Up"The Season 3 finale of the Invincible TV adaptation premiered last week, delivering the nonstop action that fans have come to expect. Much like the season one finale, the episode teased what's to come next season including the return of the parasitic alien Sequids and fan-favorite character Battle Beast. While these storylines are taken directly from the original comic series, the episode also sets up the return of another character from the first season and a storyline completely original to the animated series that never occurred in the comics.

After being banished back to Hell in Season 1, demon detective Damien Darkblood reappeared in a mid-credits scene of the most recent episode "I Thought You'd Be Stronger." After summoning a mysterious elderly demonic being simply named "Demon" in the credits (voiced by none other than Bruce Campbell), Darkblood promised his demonic...

We've already ranked the strongest characters in "Invincible" overall, but getting more specific, we also wanted to look at the Viltrumites who dominate the series' power-rankings at large. In doing so, we found the strongest of the strong: the 10 most powerful Viltrumites in "Invincible."

Invincible Creator Has Hilarious Response To Mark Grayson's Gruesome Injuries
Image
Mark Grayson is no stranger to brutal beatdowns. Invincible is known for its over-the-top violence, pushing its protagonist to his physical and emotional limits, but it turns out the artists behind his world relish his suffering. Recently, artist and co-creator Ryan Ottley responded to a fan question asking whether he enjoyed "drawing Mark in pain". His answer perfectly encapsulates the dark humor that runs through the series.

Ottley tweeted a reply after posting the cover of Invincible #62,the infamous issue featuring Mark’s brutal battle with Conquest—a fight that played out in the Invincible season 3 finale. When asked if he enjoys drawing Invincible in agony, Ottley responded with a quick clap back.

No. I love it. https://t.co/N3VlrZpzm6— Ryan Ottley (@RyanOttley) March 13, 2025

Statements like this from Invincibles creators showcase more than just enthusiasm for Mark’s suffering. His response highlights the core of Invincible’s appeal:...

Walton Goggins, J.K. Simmons, and Steven Yeun in Invincible (2021)
Invincible vs. Conquest is the best animated fight of all time... and it's not close
Walton Goggins, J.K. Simmons, and Steven Yeun in Invincible (2021)
The penultimate episode of Invincible season 3 ended with one of the biggest dogs in the yard showing up to Earth to check on the progress of Mark Grayson. Mark was supposed to prepare the world for the Viltrum Empire. Since he refused, it was time for him to face the consequences of his actions. The consequences came in the form of a brutal and unrelenting Viltrumite warrior named Conquest.

This writer has repeatedly mentioned that this was a fight that people were looking forward to seeing. That left a lot of pressure on the creative team and, especially, the animators. As viewers witnessed during the Invincible War, everyone was in good hands. Conquest vs Invincible didn’t disappoint.

They started this fight with a punch to each other’s fists that sent a shockwave that destroyed buildings and possibly killed people. That was the biggest indication that this was going to be great.

Invincible: Atom Eve's Powers, Explained
Image
Spoilers for "Invincible" (both the TV show and the comics) to follow.

The whole premise of "Invincible" is a kid trying to live up to his dad — only his dad is the world's greatest superhero. The story soon reveals Nolan Grayson aka Omni-Man (J.K Simmons) isn't all he appears to be, but from the start Mark Grayson aka Invincible (Steven Yeun) has been from a family of heroes. Over the series, that family grows. As of season 3, Mark's kid half-brother Oliver (Christian Convery) is Kid Omni-Man, and Invincible is dating the matter-rearranging superheroine Atom Eve (Gillian Jacobs).

There's a lot of Spider-Man in "Invincible" — Eve is Mark's Mary Jane, red hair and all, only she has powers like her boyfriend does too. Mark's first girlfriend, Amber (Zazie Beetz), shows why a superhero trying to date a normal person wouldn't work. Eve is nowhere near as physically strong as a Viltrumite,...

Invincible Season 3 Just Introduced One Of The Comic's Strongest Villains
Image
Spoilers for "Invincible" to follow.

"Invincible" has wrapped up its third and best season yet. The season 3 finale, "I Thought You'd Never Shut Up," was a high note to bow out on, adapting a story every fan of the original "Invincible" comic has been waiting for.

Back in season 2, the Viltrumite Anissa (Shantel VanSanten) warned Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun) if he didn't start conquering Earth, then someone much worse would come to test Invincible's name. Episode 7, "What Have I Done?" concludes with that someone else arriving — Conquest, the oldest of the Viltrumites and their second strongest warrior. That may not sound that impressive when there's less than 50 Viltrumites left, but Conquest lives up to Cecil's nickname for him: "Mr. 10 Times Worse."

Conquest debuted in "Invincible" issues #61-64; he's got the signature Viltrumite mustache, but he shows his age with a scar, a bad eye, crooked teeth, and a golden cybernetic arm.

Invincible Nerfed Evil Mark Grayson, Sparking Debate With Comic Readers: "My Boy Deserves Better"

Spoilers for Invincible episode "What Have I Done"

The Invincible TV adaptation just introduced the franchise's evil, alternate universe variants of protagonist Mark Grayson, including the fan-favorite alt-Mark known as "Hoodvincible" – and fans of the comic are dismayed by how quickly he was taken out. One X user summed up much of the fandom's sentiment, posting that: "My boy deserves better."

Artist Ryan Ottley responded to the comment on X, posting a close-up of the character from Invincible #60 – by Ryan Ottley and writer Robert Kirkman – which featured the fan-favorite "Invincible War" storyline. As Ottley put it, "[Hoodvincible] held his own against Cyberforce...for awhile."

Invincible Creator Names His Favorite Evil Mark Design: "He Got Stuck in a More Violent Era"

The artist behind the Invinciblecomic series has officially confirmed his favorite "Alternate Mark Grayson" from the series is "Mohawk Mark." The inclusion of the Alternate Marks in the Amazon TV adaptation of the comic has sparked a renewed interest in the characters, as new fans are introduced to the Robert Kirkman story's take on the Multiverse concept.

Posting on X, Invincible artist Ryan Ottley responded to a fan question, stating that Mohawk Mark "was and still is" his pick for the stand-out alt-Mark.

My fave was and still is, Mohawk Mark. I based it on the basic blue design, like he got stuck in his more violent era, much more rebellious and douchey. https://t.co/r9QE7LVvSlpic.twitter.com/2MroXVho54— Ryan Ottley (@RyanOttley) March 4, 2025

Invincible Creator Channels Dragon Ball With Mark's Own Super Saiyan Debut

Invincible is one of the hottest superhero franchises at the moment, and now, Mark Grayson has unlocked a shocking new power-up in a crossover with Dragon Ball. The series' titular hero already wields impressive power thanks to his Viltrumite heritage, and a co-creator of the franchise has pushed him to new heights with art that re-imagines him as a Super Saiyan.

Ryan Ottley, one of the creators who defined Invincible's unforgettable comic run, has shared jaw-dropping art on X that depicts Invincible himself as a Super Saiyan, embodying Goku's iconic transformation from Dragon Ball Z. With spiky blonde hair and a glowing aura surging out of him, Mark looks cooler than ever as he trades his usual Viltrumite powers for those of a Saiyan.

Invincible Episode 7 Clip Teases Epic Destruction for Invincible Wars Storyline
Image
It’s a bloody and brutal week for superheroes, both on Disney+ and Prime Video. Whilst Marvel’s Man Without Fear grapples his way back to the screen in Daredevil: Born Again, Mark Grayson will have to deal with a lot of parallel iterations of himself as the show adapts one of the most epic stories from the comics.

Invincible, which follows half-human, half-Viltrumite hero Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun), is a brutal and bloody world where he and others have to defend Earth from the ruthless Viltrumite Empire. Whilst the impending invasion of a group of supermen might seem to be a top priority for Mark, Mark will first face his greatest enemy yet… himself, in a storyline co-showrunner Simon Racioppa says was both exciting to produce and daunting to actualize, per Entertainment Weekly.

The 12 Strongest Invincible Characters Ranked

We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

With dramatic action and sky-high emotional stakes, its no wonder why Amazon Prime Video's "Invincible" has become one of the popular superhero TV shows of all time. Based on the comic book series by Robert Kirkman, Ryan Ottley, and Cory Walker, the series has expertly adapted Mark Grayson's (Steven Yeun) morally tumultuous journey toward mastering his powers and growing into the man he's meant to be.

But as one might expect, that growth comes with more power -- and even more powerful enemies. These are the 12 strongest characters in Invincible, ranked (but be warned that major spoilers for the comics lie below).

Does Atom Eve Cheat on Mark? What Fans Can Expect in Invincible Season 3
Image
Quick LinksDid Eve Cheat On Mark In the Invincible Comics? What Is the Status of Mark and Eve In Invincible Season 3?The Invincible Show Has a More Mature Mark and Eve

The following contains spoilers for the Invincible comics and Invincible Season 3, now streaming on Prime Video.

The love triangle between Amber, Mark Grayson and Atom Eve (aka Samantha) is one of Invincible's most engaging arcs. In Robert Kirkman and Ryan Ottley's comics, Mark left Amber to be with Eve. The TV series, however, added more depth to Amber and Mark's romance, rather than just having him lust for Eve. It made it more difficult for both to part ways, citing how Amber couldn't remain in Mark's life due to his dangerous lifestyle.

In Invincible Season 3, Amber and Mark are broken up, but they remain friends in a healthy relationship. It allowed Mark and Eve to finally begin dating.

One Key Invincible Season 3 Line Teases The Endgame For Mark Grayson
Image
This article contains spoilers for "Invincible."

"We're in the endgame now," declared Doctor Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) during "Avengers: Infinity War," signaling the final act of the 21st century's most famous superhero saga. "Invincible" isn't quite there yet; it's about 45% of the way through the original 144-issue Image comic series by Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley. However, the ongoing third season of "Invincible" has offered some hints of that endgame.

In the episode "You Were My Hero," Mark/Invincible travels far into the future and discovers his superhero comrade the Immortal (Ross Marquand) rules the planet as a king. The Immortal has gone mad from living too long; he doesn't quite realize that the Mark before him is from the past. Thus, he talks about events that Mark hasn't experienced yet; he mentions Mark getting sick, even though they found a cure for this disease, and claims Mark...

Why Every Viltrumite Has A Mustache In Invincible
Image
As Robert Kirkman's animated superhero series "Invincible" continues to serve up new twists and turns in its third season, viewers may find themselves wondering what the heck is the deal with Viltrumites and their mustaches. All of these men are sporting some serious facial growth above their upper lip like they're Burt Reynolds smuggling a truckload of Coors from Texarkana to Atlanta. It's a bold bit of grooming that's too uniform to be a mistake. Meanwhile, Mark Grayson (voiced by Steven Yeun), aka the half-human, half-Viltrumite hero Invincible, is 'stache free. Clearly, something is up.

There is, unsurprisingly, a perfectly good explanation for the Viltrumites' grooming preferences, as well as Mark's decision to go without one (though you could be excused for assuming the young man is as yet incapable of looking like 1980s New York Yankees great Don Mattingly). The short answer is that it all has to...

I’m Begging the ‘Invincible’ Creators To Adapt This Shocking Storyline
Image
Invinciblecreator Robert Kirkman once referred to the series as "a second draft in animated form" of the iconic Image Comics series he co-created with Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley. I couldn't agree more with Kirkman's take: while Invincible has stuck pretty close to its source material, it's managed to streamline some events in the comics or recontextualize those events — or both, especially where Cecil Steadman (Walton Goggins) is concerned. With Kirkman aiming for seven or eight seasons, Invincible has yet to tackle some of its biggest storylines, but there is one character who has yet to be introduced — and it is Dinosaurus, a highly-intelligent superhuman dinosaur. Dinosaurus' methods end up changing the way Mark Grayson approaches superheroism and features a massive shift in the comics that touches on some of the themes Invincible Season 3 is digging into.

Why ‘Invincible’ Season 3 and ‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’ Aren’t Comparable, Despite Online Debate
Image
Some of the most entertaining television series in the animated field have finally made – and are about to make – their way to the screens in 2025, quenching fans’ curiosity and never-ending anticipation surrounding the same. This includes the likes of Invincible, which is currently winning fans over with its third season, and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.

However, while both of these shows are as perfect as can be in their respective places, being parts of different universes each, there’s quite a bit of debate swirling online about which series is better and which one isn’t. But now is not the time to be engulfed in such debates, for, truth be told, these two respective masterpieces aren’t actually comparable, despite online fan debate.

'Invincible' Creator Robert Kirkman Shuts Down Season 3 Rex Splode Spinoff
Image
Invincible has just returned for Season 3, with the first three episodes now streaming on Prime Video. Season 3 sees Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun) training and preparing for the incoming Viltrumite invasion, while also becoming a mentor to his new half-brother, Oliver. While the core Invincible series, based on the comics by Robert Kirkman, is predominantly Mark's story, some of the show's cast and fans are hoping the secondary characters will get spinoffs. But when it comes to a Rex Splode spinoff, Kirkman isn't so sure.

During an interview with Collider for the Invincible Season 3 premiere, Jason Mantzoukas, who voices Rex Splode in the series, says he wants Rex to have his own explosive spinoff. "Absolutely," Mantzoukas said when pitched the idea by the journalist. "We gotta tell Robert Kirkman that we need a Rex Splode spin-off." In Hollywood, it's not what you know, but who you know, and, like Commissioner Gordon calling Batman,...
