Space-related movies have been popular in recent years, but Sony is bringing us a more lighthearted approach to the subject later this year in the romantic comedy Fly Me to the Moon, which shares its title with the famous song by Frank Sinatra. Based on an original screenplay by Rose Gilroy, the movie will feature Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum in the main roles, and it is set for a July 12, 2024 release. Sony and Apple have released the first trailer for “Fly Me to the Moon,” a romantic comedy starring Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum, which is set to premiere on July 12. The film is set against the 1960s space race and features Johansson as a marketing exec hired by NASA to film a fake moon landing in case the real mission fails. Apple won the project in a $100 million deal following a bidding war in 2022, and the project was formerly known as “Project Artemis.”

Chris Evans was first set to play Tatum’s role, while Oscar nominee Johansson — who also produces — has been attached to the film since its inception. Jason Bateman was originally set as the film’s director but left the project due to creative differences. His exit altered the shooting schedule and meant Evans could not complete the project and Netflix’s “Pain Hustlers” at the same time.

Ten years since “Under the Skin,” auteur Jonathan Glazer has reunited with muse Scarlett Johansson.

The collaborative duo first worked together on the 2014 sci-fi noir. Newly-minted Oscar winner Glazer, who recently helmed Best International Feature “The Zone of Interest,” directs Johansson in a Prada advertisement to promote the brand’s Galleria bag collection.

Sony has dated an untitled Apple Original Films production starring Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum for July 12. Formerly known as “Project Artemis,” it’s set to screen in premium large formats with Columbia Pictures distributing.

Meanwhile, the George Clooney-Brad Pitt starrer “Wolfs,” also from Apple Original Films, will open Sept. 20 in IMAX and premium large formats. Written and directed by Jon Watts, “Wolfs” follows two lone-wolf fixers assigned to the same job, and co-stars Amy Ryan.

Directed by Greg Berlanti, the former “Project Artemis” project co-stars Jim Rash, Ray Romano, Anna Garcia, Donald Elise Watkins, Noah Robbins, Colin Woodell, Nick Dillenburg and Christian Zuber and Woody Harrelson. We told you first that Sony won the theatrical distribution deal to handle Apple Original Films Jon Watts’ directed George Clooney and Brad Pitt thriller Wolfs, as well as the Greg Berlanti directed Scarlett Johansson-Channing Tatum movie previously known as Project Artemis (title forthcoming). We heard they were getting 2024 release dates and well, here they are: the latter will bow in theaters on July 12 next year while Wolfs hits theaters on Sept. 20.

Both titles will screen in premium large formats. Wolfs will also have access to Imax.

As we head into 2024, the slate of Apple Originals headed for theatrical releases continues to expand and boy are we thankful for it.

Whilst there will be plenty of people happy to watch Napoleon and Killers of the Flower Moon at home (with self-decided intermissions) there are lots of movie lovers who want to enjoy these films in a cinema. Thankfully, Apple Studios seems to have made a firm commitment to pleasing this sizeable contingent: we know that the Brad Pitt Formula 1 film will be the jewel in Apple’s 2024 crown (if it does release next year) and that is definitely coming to cinemas.

Project Artemis and Wolfs will be given an exclusive theatrical run before they hit Apple TV+ no earlier than 45 days later. The two movies are likely to arrive on the big screen in 2024.

The news comes on the heels of Apple Original Films’ Ridley Scott-directed Napoleon rolling toward $200M worldwide via its distribution pact with Sony.

Both movies, developed and produced by Apple Original Films, will receive a global theatrical window before streaming worldwide on AppleTV+. Napoleon opened on Nov. 22 and has a 45-day theatrical window. While no theatrical release date has been set for Wolfs and Project Artemis, it would not be shocking if both land 2024 spots in an exhibition marketplace that’s starving for project.
