Status Update on Sinister Sequel
Sinister was developed for an estimated $3 million and earned over $77 million at the box office, so it was no surprise to hear that a sequel is moving forward. Director Scott Derrickson talked about the sequel last month, but a new report confirms some of the details.

Deadline reports that Blumhouse Productions is officially moving forward on the project, with Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill returning to co-write the story. While everything is still in the early planning stages, it’s likely that a new director will be brought in, with Derrickson staying involved as a producer, along with Jason Blum.

Sinister was released to theaters late last year and is now available on Blu-ray/DVD. The movie stars Ethan Hawke, Vincent D’Onofrio, James Ransone, Fred Dalton Thompson, Nicholas King, Clare Foley, Victoria Leigh, Juliet Rylance and Michael Hall D’Addario.

Scott Derrickson talks Sinister Sequel
After the box office success and positive audience response for Sinister, it doesn’t surprise us to hear that a sequel may be headed our way. During a recent interview, director Scott Derrickson confirmed to SciFiNow that he is interested in seeing a sequel made, and talks about what his involvement in the project would be:

“We’re in the process of doing that…. I certainly want to write the script and be involved with it as the producer – I would possibly direct the next one, we’ll see… But I don’t see myself just handing the franchise over to just anybody and letting it go… If it goes on – then maybe – but I want to see it start its process on the right foot at least, and always have some say and have some involvement in it.”

Sinister was a Blumhouse production, which was developed for an estimated $3 million and earned $65.4 million worldwide.

New ‘Sinister’ Movie Delieverd Lots Of Very Weird Thrills,Suspense & More
New 'Sinister' movie delivered lots of very weird thrills, suspense & more. Summit Entertainment released their new horror/thriller flick "Sinister" into theaters this weekend. I just checked it out,and thought it was just ok,and that was strictly because things picked up towards the end. It moved along quite slow at first, but finally served up some pretty thrilling moments. It stars: Ethan Hawke, Vincent D'Onofrio, James Ransone, Fred Dalton Thompson, Nicholas King, Clare Foley, Victoria Leigh, Juliet Rylance, and Michael Hall D'Addario. In the new flick, Ellison Oswalt (Ethan Hawke) and his family ,move into a house, where a brutal hanging of a couple of kids took place right in the back yard. Ellison started investigating the mystery hanging for his new mystery book, and to hopefully solve the missing details of the case. As he got deeper into the details of the case, mysterious, paranormal,...

Film Review: The Most Scary Film of 2012, ‘Sinister’ is Both a Voyeur’s Heaven & Hell
Chicago – We have forgotten what it’s like to be scared by an actually scary movie. “Sinister” – from producer Jason Blum (“Insidious” and all four “Paranormal Activity” films) – is the first film in 2012 to remind us.

Rating: 4.5/5.0

More terrifying than “Insidious” and any of the “Paranormal Activity” films, “Sinister” is beautifully diabolical even without trickery. Instead of attempting to earn your fear by being very loosely based on a true story (like “The Possession”) and while steering seriously clear of a flop (like “The Apparition”) that’s as scary as George Bush trying to run our country, “Sinister” remembers what makes hair-raising films actually curdle your blood.

Like “The Shining,” “Misery,” “The Exorcist” and “Jaws” played on people’s mental fears without fancy effects as patchwork for weak material, the modern-day “Sinister” captures the most scary element of “The Ring” and “The Cabin in the Woods”: voyeurism.

Ethan Hawk's Sinister gets a Disturbing Red-Band Trailer
A new red-band trailer has been released for the upcoming horror thriller Sinister, which stars Ethan Hawk. There is no dialogue spoken in this latest trailer, just a creepy score, with crazy sounds, and some pretty disturbing visuals. It's the best trailer I've seen for the film, because it was the most effective in making me feel a little uncomfortable and disturbed. The movie looks like a great psychological horror thriller that will screw with people's minds. I was kind of on the fence about this movie until I watched this trailer.

In the story Ethan Hawke plays a true crime novelist that moves his family into a house where another family was murdered. That doesn't seem like the smartest thing to do. There, he discovers a box of mysterious, disturbing home movies that plunge his family into a nightmarish experience of supernatural horror.

The movie was directed by Scott Derrickson...

While originally scheduled for release on October 5th, it has now been moved to October 12th. First Look: Ethan Hawke in Supernatural Thriller Sinister
Summit Entertainment have released the first two images from Sinister, their August 24th released thriller starring Ethan Hawke.

Directed by Scott Derrickson (The Day The Earth Stood Still remake, The Exorcism of Emily Rose) from an original screenplay he co-wrote, the film follows a true crime novelist (Hawke) on the trail of his next big story. Vincent D’Onofrio, James Ransone, Fred Dalton Thompson, Nicholas King, Clare Foley, Victoria Leigh, Juliet Rylance and Michael Hall D’Addario support.

Also starring Vincent D’Onofrio, James Ransone, Fred Dalton Thompson, Clare Foley, Cameron Ocasio, Victoria Leigh, Juliet Rylance, and Michael Hall D’Addario. Scott Derrickson (“The Day the Earth Stood Still”) directs from a script he co-wrote with C. Robert Cargill. Something sinister is afoot August 24,...
