Alex Gale is a Emmy, BAFTA, and Royal Television Society-winning documentary filmmaker best known for character-driven storytelling in the world of sport.
In 2023 Gale directed the Emmy-winning Football Must Go On (Paramount Plus), telling the human stories behind Ukrainian football Champions Shakhtar Donetsk's war-torn season.
Gale is also know for his work in India, including Sons Of The Soil (Amazon Prime), following the fortunes of Bollywood star Abhishek Bachchan's Pro Kabaddi team across a season, exploring how an explosion in the sport's popularity has transformed players' lives.
Alex's films Glasgow 1967: The Lisbon Lions and Scotland 78: A Love Story won the Best Documentary award from BAFTA Scotland in successive years in 2017 & 2018.
From Manchester United legend Eric Cantona to non-league minnows, Alex has worked with some of the biggest, and smallest, names in sport. His 2023 Royal Television Society-winning film, Fight At The Fort, follows a season with Fort William FC, dubbed Britain's worst football team, as they struggle for survival on and off the pitch.
