America’s Got Talent Golden Buzzer: Unreal Crew

The biggest moment of the night belonged to Unreal, a dance crew from India. Their jaw‑dropping performance was so innovative that Howie Mandel didn’t hesitate to hit the Golden Buzzer, sending them directly to the live shows. Simon Cowell called it “so creative, brilliant, scary,” while Sofía Vergara said it was a “perfect audition.”

America’s Got Talent Season 20 truly lived up to its name last night, serving up its eighth round of auditions that Simon Cowell himself declared “one of the craziest days” in a long time. From gravity-defying feats to jaw-dropping artistry and a few head-scratching moments, the stage was a whirlwind of unpredictable talent, culminating in a memorable AGT Golden Buzzer moment. Judges Howie Mandel, Mel B, Sofia Vergara, and Simon Cowell, along with host Terry Crews, were certainly kept on their toes.

As AGT fans know, the path to stardom begins with at least three “yes” votes from the judges. But the real game-changer? That coveted AGT Golden Buzzer, which propels an act straight to the live shows. Last night, someone earned that golden ticket in a truly unforgettable way.

Two muscular participants had America’s Got Talent judges Mel B and Sofia Vergara genuinely rattled after pulling them on stage for a stunt that quickly turned dangerous. The men in question, Darien Johnson and Scott Mathison, turned the entire set into a gym and began tossing massive barbells, not just between themselves but over the heads of the two judges as well. Both Mel B and Vergara looked visibly anxious as the weights flew dangerously close.

They clung to each other, choosing not to move as the act played out. After Johnson and Mathison completed six successful passes, the judges were relieved to go back to their seats, wishing they had remained seated in the first place. As they walked, the Modern Family star, as per EW, added “so scary,” and Mel B followed her by saying “Oh my god. What you do is proper. Fit and hot.”

America’s Got Talent Season 20 continued Tuesday night with the eighth two-hour edition of its auditions episodes. This week features gym bros throwing weights over Mel B and Sofia Vergara's heads, a 13-year-old that defies gravity, a rapping comedian, a truly "unreal" Golden Buzzer moment from Howie Mandel, and a declaration from Simon Cowell that this set of auditions makes "one of the craziest days" in a long time.

This season's competition follows the same format that AGT fans are used to. In the auditions phase, an act needs at least three "yes" votes from the judges to advance. If a judge or Terry Crews believes an act is exceptional they can hit the Golden Buzzer to award them an automatic bid to the final rounds.
