This Forgotten Nickelodeon Cartoon Is Perfect for Coco Fans
Image
Disney and Pixar’s 2017 hit Coco may have been the first time many audiences truly experienced the beauty of Dia de los Muertos, but it’s far from the first time mainstream media has brought Latin American culture to the forefront. It may be the most popular depiction of the holiday, but its gorgeous visuals and catchy songs followed the success of George Gutierrez’s similarly themed The Book of Life. That’s not to say either film is better than the other. Both have their merits, and their stories are dissimilar enough to qualify as mostly unique experiences.

However, fans of the 2017 hit are always looking for something new to enjoy. Fortunately, Gutierrez’s work stretches back further than The Book of Life. Before the beautifully stylized film hit theaters, Gutierrez worked on a lesser-known venture — a Nickelodeon cartoon — called El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera. Like its later theatrical relatives,...

Ken Jeong Gives Optimistic Update on Delayed 'Community' Movie
Image
How long have Community fans been saying "Six seasons and a movie" for? The beloved sitcom, created by Dan Harmon, ran for six seasons between 2009 and 2015. Following the show's finale, fans have been taking to the virtual streets, campaigning for Abed's dream to come true. That dream was answered in 2022 when the Community movie was, finally, officially announced. However, fans have again grown doubtful, as progress has been immensely slow. Thankfully, Señor Chang himself, Ken Jeong, is here to give fans a much-needed boost of hope.

During a recent interview with TV Insider to promote the series Accused, Jeong delivered some good news about the long-delayed Community movie. Jeong confirmed that the script has been completed, and the cast is now just waiting for the production to move onto the next stage.

"There is a script, there is a plan," Jeong said. "We just don’t know when [it will happen]. Once that’s agreed upon,...

Liverpool's Diaz returns to Colombia squad for friendlies
Image
Bogota, June 6 (Ians) Liverpool forward Luis Diaz has returned to Colombia’s squad for upcoming friendlies against Iraq and Germany, the South American country’s football federation said.

The 26-year-old has not represented his country since damaging knee ligaments in Liverpool’s 3-2 defeat at Arsenal last October.

He is joined in the 24-man squad by Everton center-back Yerry Mina, whose injury troubles have kept him out of the national team since January 2022.

But there was no place for veteran forward Radamel Falcao or playmaker James Rodriguez, who have grappled with poor form and fitness problems over the past year, a Xinhua report said.

Head coach Nestor Lorenzo included uncapped midfielders Oscar Cortes and Andres Salazar, who impressed onlookers at this year’s under-20 World Cup in Argentina.

Colombia will play Iraq in Valencia on June 16 and Germany in Gelsenkirchen four days later.

Three draws in La Liga's Tuesday night games
Image
Madrid, Oct 19 (Ians) Former Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao scored a 92nd minute penalty against his former club to give Rayo Vallecano a 1-1 draw in La Liga on Tuesday.

The veteran striker made no mistake from the spot after Var had ruled against Atletico defender Jose Gimenez for handball. Atletico had looked to be on track for a 1-0 win after Alvaro Morata swept home Antoine Griezmann’s cross in the 20th minute.

Griezmann had a goal ruled out for offside, but Rayo were good value for their point after another display of attacking football, reports Xinhua. There was late drama in Sevilla’s 1-1 draw at home to Valencia after Jose Luis Gaya saw his 95th-minute penalty saved by Sevilla keeper Bono, following a confusing moment which saw Sevilla’s Kike Salas sent off.

Edinson Cavani’s third goal in two games put Valencia ahead in the sixth minute,...

Jack Whitehall Tackles Gareth Bale, Jose Mourinho in YouTube’s ‘Training Days’
Jack Whitehall
YouTube’s first European original “Jack Whitehall: Training Days” is from the producers of “Carpool Karaoke,” and will look to take some of the production smarts of that series to the world of soccer, the host told Variety.

“The genesis of the idea was trying to make ‘Carpool Karaoke’ but for football,” Whitehall said. “Doing it in a World Cup year meant that we could also try to create the perfect format to get everyone excited for the biggest sporting event on the planet.”

Comedian and actor Whitehall meets some of the biggest names from the beautiful game in the ad-supported show, including Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho, and Colombian star Radamel Falcao (pictured). James Corden’s Fulwell 73 is on production duty.

The host deliberately took the stars out of their comfort zone and the stunts include sneaking England player Kyle Walker onto Simon Cowell’s “Britain’s Got Talent.

Social Stars Joe Sugg, F2 Freestylers To Join Jack Whitehall For Soccer Series On YouTube Red
YouTube Red's first unscripted original series in the UK will be led by a comedian, a bunch of superstar footballers, and a handful of popular YouTubers. It's called Training Days, and it will be hosted by English funnyman Jack Whitehall.

In Training Days, Whitehall and his athletic guests will undertake a series of activities that have nothing to do with sports. He will join Colombian striker Radamel Falcao, for example, to shoot a perfume ad, and he will visit a haunted house alongside Tottenham Hotspurs standout Dele Alli.

It won't just be all-world soccer players, however, who will hang with Whitehall on his upcoming show. YouTube stars who are expected to appear on the program include Joe Sugg, Manny, Joe Wicks, and The F2 Freestylers. Ahead of the release of Training Days, Whitehall has already started collaborating with those creators. In a video on his channel, he played a game...
