Note: This story contains spoilers from the “Riverdale” series finale.
After seven seasons of chaotic storytelling, time travel and musical episodes, the CW bid farewell to “Riverdale” with a touching and somber finale Wednesday night. Appropriately titled “Chapter One Hundred Thirty-Seven: Goodbye, Riverdale,” the installment featured a return to the present day before one last trip down a grief-stricken memory lane.
Before we get into the finale, the penultimate episode established that Angel Tabitha (Erinn Westbrook) announced she’d blended the multiverse into the 1950s timeline and restored the good memories of the Riverdale teens’ present day lives, leaving them in the 1950s to help change the world for the better. Jughead (Cole Sprouse) and Betty (Lili Reinhart) chose to keep both the good and the bad memories in secret.

Riverdale season 7 gave our characters a fresh slate in the 1950’s, embracing their “classic Archie Comics counterparts.” However, in the penultimate episode, they all finally got their good memories back from Angel Tabitha (Erinn Westbrook) with only Jughead (Cole Sprouse) and Betty (Lili Reinhart) choosing to remember both the good and bad.
With all of the absurd storylines that have taken place throughout the seasons, including time travel, it makes sense to say goodbye to Riverdale as the town that was once lost in time with one last epic journey. Whether you’re satisfied with where your favorite characters end up, one thing is for sure, you’re going to need tissues. Here’s what really went down in the show’s finale.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for Riverdale season 7, episode 19, "The Golden Age of Television."
Riverdale may be stuck in a time loop, with the characters reliving their lives again and again due to Tabitha's multiverse-saving scheme. Jughead could use his memories to create the Archie Comics, adding a meta twist to the show's narrative. The series finale may return to the pilot episode in a Twin Peaks-style innocence-stripping event, hinting at a time-bending roadmap for the conclusion of Riverdale.
After six years and over 130 episodes, Riverdale's penultimate episode, "The Golden Age of Television," sets the scene for the series finale without giving too much away. Based on the Archie Comics' characters, the teen drama promised a dark, gritty take on the titular "Town with Pep" when it debuted in 2016. Now, over half a decade later, Riverdale revisits its image in the series' send-off. In Riverdale season 7, episode 19, Tabitha Tate (Erinn Westbrook...

The CW’s Riverdale is, unfortunately, known for changing things on a whim. They occasionally drop storylines suddenly and send characters spinning in new directions in nearly every episode. While still creating a (mostly) cohesive tale for Archie (Kj Apa), Betty (Lili Reinhart), Veronica (Camila Mendes), Jughead (Cole Sprouse), and the rest of our beloved Riverdaliens, it’s one of the cruxes that has turned people away from the show along this seven-season journey. In Riverdale Season 7, this has again happened with what was the most promising aspect of the unexpected season premiere. What was (seemingly) cut? The message Angel Tabitha (Erinn Westbrook) left Jughead with: Bend towards justice. But, to understand, let’s back it up a little bit.

Riverdale star Mädchen Amick recently shared that Archie and the gang will remain stuck in the 1950s for the remainder of the final season.
During an interview with Decider, the actor -- who stars as Betty Cooper's mother Alice in The CW drama series -- revealed that the entire seventh season takes place in the fifties. "No, we don’t get out of the 1950s. So I guess maybe that is a big spoiler," said Amick. "I will say you do experience the characters in different… dimensions, that you get to see a lot of closures that are outside of the 1950s. I can tease it that way. I think that’s saying enough."

Riverdale's final season has pushed its characters from their adult states back to a teenage facsimile -- only this time, they're stuck in the 1950s.
For some, the '50s were the reset they'd been hoping to see from Riverdale, which can offer fresh, campy storytelling. For others, Riverdale's foray into the '50s has fallen hopelessly flat.
Riverdale Season 5 starts with a seven-year time jump that aged all the characters from high school seniors to aimless twenty-somethings. Divulging in more mature plots and relationships that the high school years hadn't seen before, the time jump allowed the characters to continue to grow.
Riverdale Season 6 moved into the supernatural, with the season culminating in Riverdale Season 6 Episode 22, "Chapter One Hundred and Seventeen: The Night Of The Comet," wherein the residents of Riverdale were faced with a new kind of peril as a comet hurdled towards them, threatening to wipe them...

The CW’s Riverdale has been one wild ride. Our beloved Riverdalians — Archie Andrews (Kj Apa), Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart), Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes), Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse), Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch), Toni Topaz (Vanessa Morgan), and newcomer Tabitha Tate (Erinn Westbrook) — have fought back against serial killers, crime bosses, and a demon from the alternate dimension of Rivervale to attempt to keep their town safe. Unfortunately, the series hasn’t always known how to handle its large ensemble of supporting characters, which has, at times, dramatically impacted the quality of the show. As a series regular for all but the first season of the drama, this is especially true for Kevin Keller (Casey Cott), who the series has never known what to do with, even well into the final season as the characters continue their “new” lives in the 1950s.

The Riverdale season 6 finale has come and gone, and viewers may be wondering what that twist ending is all about. Riverdale season 6 was the show's most bizarre yet, taking it down a supernatural route that creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa swore it would never take. The second to last episode saw the villainous sorcerer Percival Pickens (Chris O'Shea) return back to his home in the alternate universe of Rivervale, but not before ensuring that Bailey's Comet is still headed for Riverdale. To make matters worse, Percival also placed a magical barrier over the town so that civilians inside cannot escape.
During the Riverdale season 6 finale, Veronica (Camila Mendes) formulates a plan where she absorbs the team's powers via a blood transfer and gives them all to Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) through a kiss. However, while Cheryl redirects the comet and saves Riverdale, the show takes a shocking twist at the end of season 6 as the show's main character,...

Riverdale Season 7 — its final season — has completely shaken things up. After Bailey’s Comet was directed toward the town, an extinction-level event occurred that forced Tabitha (Erinn Westbrook) to use her angelic abilities to send everyone back in time to the 1950s. As she searches for a way to survive the comet and disentangle the timelines, our characters have stepped into their new lives with no memory of what came before. Archie (Kj Apa), Betty (Lili Reinhart), Veronica (Camila Mendes), Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch), Toni (Vanessa Morgan), Kevin (Casey Cott), and Jughead (Cole Sprouse) are now teenagers once more, fighting against the repressive standards of the era in their own ways, while exploring romantic relationships, old and new, with a fair amount of twists. But, while the ‘50s gimmick was enjoyable at first and felt like a nice little nod to the comics, we’re now halfway through the final season...

Spoiler Alert! This post contains details from the Season 7 premiere of The CW’s Riverdale.
It’s the beginning of the end for Riverdale. The series kicked off its final season on Wednesday, picking up where the last moments of Season 6 left off, after the characters were suddenly transported back in time to the 1950s right before Bailey’s comet decimated the town.
Archie, Betty, Jughead, Veronica and the rest of the gang are back in high school, in a decade that showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa says is “most associated with Archie Comics.” But while the season will certainly feel nostalgic, it also won’t shy away from the realities of the decade, Aguirre-Sacasa said.
“It would have been disingenuous to erase the real struggles and the real hardships that a lot of people in the 1950s faced, especially for our queer characters and our characters of color,” he told Deadline,...

The final season of live-action "Archie" comics TV series "Riverdale", begins March 29, 2023 on The CW:
"...picking up where last season ended, 'Jughead Jones' (Cole Sprouse) finds himself trapped in the 1950's. He has no idea how he got there, nor how to get back to the present.
"His friends are no help, as they are living seemingly authentic lives, similar to their classic 'Archie Comics' counterparts, unaware that they've ever been anywhere but the 1950's.
"'Archie Andrews' (Kj Apa) is the classic all-American teen, coming of age, getting into trouble, and learning life-lessons. 'Betty Cooper' (Lili Reinhart) is the girl next door, starting to question everything about her perfect life - including her controlling mother 'Alice' (Madchen Amick), 'Veronica Lodge' (Camila Mendes) is a Hollywood starlet who moved to 'Riverdale' under mysterious circumstances.
"'Cheryl Blossom' (Madelaine Petsch) is the 'Queen Bee' with a withering wit and a secret longing.

The end is approaching for Riverdale.
The seventh and final season premieres Wednesday, March 29, on The CW, and if the first trailer is any indication, the trippy storytelling that made the first few seasons a success is making a comeback.
When Riverdale Season 6 concluded in 2022, the gang was transported back to the 1950s, which looks to be the setting for the final chapter.
In true Riverdale fashion, Jughead (Cole Sprouse) appears to be the only person who knows what's happening in this new timeline.
"We were all sent back in time," Jughead tells his friends.
"We need to get back."
However, his friends are far too interested in spending their time at school than unraveling the mysteries surrounding their lives.
"Jughead, we're juniors in high school. Life's good," Archie (Kj Apa) says.
"Why would we want to go back? ... We are not from the future!"

The premiere date for Riverdale season 7 has been revealed as well as a synopsis for the final season. After running for seven seasons, Riverdale is set to conclude the popular Archie Comics-based drama on The CW this year. After being picked up for another season, The CW revealed later in 2022 that Riverdale season 7 would be the last one. This was a decision a lot of cast members had been predicting throughout previous interviews, with several contracts expiring this year. Riverdale season 6 ended on an unexpected note as the characters had the timeline scrambled around where they were sent back to the 1950s.
Following the Riverdale season 6 finale, The CW has officially revealed new details about season 7. The network announced that Riverdale season 7 would premiere on Wednesday, March 29, at 9 Pm Et. A sneak peek at Riverdale season 7 has revealed the 1950s-set opening of the new season. The CW series, which is ending with the upcoming season, is a gritty reboot of classic Archie Comics characters that has been running since 2017. While the show is known for its wacky twists and turns, perhaps one of the boldest came during its season 6 finale earlier this year, in which Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch) used her newfound supernatural powers to divert a comet that was going to destroy the town. In the process, she accidentally sends everyone back to the 1950s, with only Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse) remembering their previous lives in the modern era.
This week, the show's creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa celebrated Entertainment Weekly's coverage of the upcoming Riverdale season 7 by revealing a portion of the opening scene of the premiere. The clip opens with someone setting the jukebox to play "Rock Around...

Well if there is anyone hot enough to melt a comet, it’s certainly Riverdale‘s Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch). As the show’s most fantastical season to date comes to an end, so too may our beloved, beleaguered town with pep. For weeks, Archie (Kj Apa) and the gang have been dealing with the undead, corpses with missing heads, rapidly aging babies, witches, an alternate universe known as “Rivervale” and the battle of good-vs-evil against Percival Pickens (Chris O’Shea). Along the way, Tabitha (Erinn Westbrook) was revealed to be a guardian angel of sorts, half the town gained and lost superpowers (included Bingo the dog!), Pop’s proved to be the seal of a Hellmouth and viewers all but lost their minds. Riverdale is officially off. The. Chain. Archie hooking up with a teacher and that Dungeons & Dragons killer plot now seem like a quaint, watercolored memories. And...

The "Riverdale" cast made quite the fashion statement at the Met Gala on Monday. Series stars Camila Mendes, Cole Sprouse, and Madelaine Petsch represented this year's "Gilded Glamour" theme well, as they all wore stunning ensembles. Mendes arrived in a shimmering gold gown with sheer gloves to match, Petsch donned a yellow puff-sleeved Moschino dress, and Sprouse wore a dazzling silver Versace suit and harness like a knight in shining armor.
The trio were last seen together at the 2022 PaleyFest LA event on April 9, joined by fellow "Riverdale" castmates Kj Apa, Lili Reinhart, Mädchen Amick, Vanessa Morgan, and Erinn Westbrook. The series is currently airing its sixth season on The CW and has already been renewed for a seventh, Collider reported. Riverdale Season 6 Episode 11
“Pop’s has endured for a reason, it’s Riverdale’s anchor.”
Every now and again a moment of television comes along that is so transcendent that it immediately embeds itself into the fabric of our pop culture consciousness: Walter White running around in his tighty whities in the Breaking Bad pilot, Six Feet Under‘s “Breathe Me” death montage, and now, Tabitha Tate drinking a milkshake from the Holy Grail in the latest episode of Riverdale.
Yes friends, this is a thing that actually occurred.
Why? The why is not important at this point. As I’ve said before in my breakdowns of the show the reasoning behind Riverdale in inconsequential as the show is an island unto itself.. Whee!
The appearance of the Grail was a throwaway moment in the episode, which shows you the level of confidence that the writing staff current has.

[Warning: The below contains spoilers for Season 6, Episode 11 of Riverdale, “Chapter One Hundred and Six: Angels in America.” If you don’t want to be spoiled, maybe go Google “transtemporal” and come back later.] Like Bill & Ted with a social conscience, Riverdale revisited key moments in Black history tonight, through the eyes of Tabitha Tate (Erinn Westbrook). As the supernatural season has unfolded, it’s been revealed that various residents of the town with pep are developing powers and it turns out, Tab is now one of them. Her gift: Time travel. Brought on by an attempt on her life by a goon working for Percival Pickens (Chris O’Shea), the possibly Evil-with-a-capital-e land developer who wants to tear down Pop’s, Tabitha found herself leaping from 1944 to 1968 to 1999. In each era, she witnesses racial injustice, hate and oppression, while receiving guidance from a series of angelic advisors. Yes, it was bonkers, but it was also a beautifully handled ...

The town of Riverdale might be running out of time, even if Tabitha has the power to save it.
On Riverdale Season 6 Episode 11, Tabitha took us on an excellent adventure through the decades, facing off against one Big Bad after another. And unlike Bill and Ted, we didn't need a magical phonebooth to make it happen.
Just the iconic Pop's Chock'lit Shoppe as our backdrop for all the drama and war to come.
"Chapter One Hundred and Six: Angels in America" was our long-awaited Tabitha-centric chapter. Sure, other group members were included, but this storyline brought her to the forefront as the main hero.
Tabitha Tate (played by Erinn Westbrook) has been a great addition to Riverdale. She's level-headed, has a strong business mind, and is willing to protect the people she cares about at a moment's notice. None of her choices feel reckless or dramatic; she's a nice balance against the soapier plots.
