DVD Review: Offender
Offender

Stars: Joe Cole, English Frank, Kimberley Nixon, Shaun Dooley, Tyson Oba | Written by Paul Van Carter | Directed by Ron Scalpello

Offender would lay claim to be the first film set against the ‘burning backdrop’ of the London riots. That would a slightly tenuous claim to be made, however, as the riots are ultimately rather incidental to the film’s narrative. Our ‘hero’ is Tommy, played by Joe Cole (no, not that Joe Cole – though hopefully he’ll one day star in a film alongside Ben Foster (this one, not that one) and Tom Cruise (this one, not that one) in a film about English nearly men). Tommy is a builder who goes out with probation officer Elsie (Fresh Meat’s Kimberley Nixon) and is going to have a little baby with her. Unfortunately, Elsie runs foul of some unpleasant young men who have been a robbin’ and a murderin’ during the riots.

Promising First Trailer, Posters & New Images from British Action/Thriller Offender
Due out this August, upcoming British action/thriller Offender is set around the London riots of last summer, and looks like it could be one of the best British films of the year.

Adam got a chance to sit down with director Ron Scalpello and writer/producer Paul Van Carter earlier this year, and the interview with them definitely makes the summer film sound promising.

Revolver have released the first trailer for the film, and its official Facebook has debuted the first posters and new images ahead of its release next month.

“When You’Ve Lost Everything… How Far Will Revenge Take You?

Hot new talent Joe Cole ignites a masterpiece of explosive intensity in this powerful action suspense thriller. For Tommy Nix, his girlfriend and unborn child were his entire life, his reason for living. That is until one cruel day when they were brutally torn away, the collateral...

New British Comedy Thriller May I Kill You Reveals Kevin Bishop In New Stills
A new foursome of stills have been revealed from Stuart Urban's new comedy horror 'May I Kill You?', currently shooting in London. The movie stars Brit funnyman (or not so funny - dependent on your point of view) Kevin Bishop as Baz, a cycling vigilante cop who has his own way of dealing with London's 'scum'. Urban also penned the script and for those who are not familiar with the TV character work of Bishop may remember him as the young Jim Hawkins in 'Muppet Treasure Island' all those years back. Jack Doolan, Frances Barber, Hayley-Marie Axe, Kasia Koleczek, Rosemary Leach, Rachael Evelyn and Tyson Oba all co-star. Check out the four new stills below....
