Spoiler Alert: This piece discusses plot points from the first two episode of The White Lotus.
Up until Season 3 of The White Lotus, many assumed that an ingredient for the show’s separate island itinerary format was one connecting character from a previous season. Jennifer Coolidge, as Tanya McQuoid, appeared in back-to-back seasons, initially as a woman mourning her mother and then as an adventurous newlywed.
Natasha Rothwell’s Belinda Lindsey befriended Tanya in Season 1, and while Rothwell sat Season 2 out, she has brought Belinda back in full force to Thailand for Season 3. As Rothwell explained to Deadline ahead of episode one, Belinda is navigating the line between hotel guest and employee this season, as she is more of the former while learning from a group of the latter to broaden her own career knowledge and expertise.
What nobody saw coming was a character who could connect all three seasons...

This critically acclaimed drama about how spaces can haunt and heal us is the finest work of John Cho, Haley Lu Richardson and director Kogonada’s careers

Brady Corbet’s Oscar hopeful The Brutalist offers a somewhat skewed depiction of architectural intent, one where public demonstrations of genius and private catharses have an outsized impact on a building’s design. Grand gestures and hidden intentions make for good drama but physical space in The Brutalist is rendered secondary to psychological space – it’s a film about a great architect, not great architecture. For the latter, one must watch the Korean-American director Kogonada’s film Columbus.
Early on in this gentle drama, Jin (John Cho) speaks of the renowned architect James Polshek’s belief in architecture as a “healing art” while looking at one of Polshek’s designs: the glass walkway of the Columbus regional mental health center.

In a surprising turn of events, Baldoni’s own lawyer has filed a lawsuit, claiming that the actor-director appropriated a writer’s original script for the 2019 film, which starred Cole Sprouse and Haley Lu Richardson.

Sometimes, a movie just doesn't get the fair shake that it deserves, even if all of the right pieces seem to be in place. Such was the case with "The Bronze." A comedy released by Sony Pictures Classics in 2016, the film was pretty much dead on arrival and hardly registered at all with moviegoers at the time despite being written by and starring Melissa Rauch of "The Big Bang Theory" fame. Haley Lu Richardson got her start in the entertainment industry not as an actor, but as a dancer. Richardson grew up training in dance and decided to move to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the performing arts at just 16. Without formal acting training or experience, however, Richardson started off with roles as dancers and choreographers, something she already had experience with. She even appeared as a dancer in the Disney Channel dance-themed sitcom Shake It Up.
Though she had been acting for several years by that point, Richardsons big breakthrough in the acting world came from Five Feet Apart in 2019. Its not her best film, but its one of her best-known because of its appeal to young adult audiences and romance fans. While its notable, these are actually her best movie and TV projects in her career.

Michael Myers and Ghostface met their match with Laurie Strode and Sidney Prescott, respectively, and now Art the Clown has met his courtesy of Lauren Lavera’s Sienna Shaw in the Terrifier franchise.
For every larger-than-life slasher villain, there’s usually a determined final girl there to stop them. If Terrifier (2016) was Art’s (David Howard Thornton) introduction, then Terrifier 2 (2022) was Sienna’s origin story, establishing her as the co-lead of the indie franchise thanks to Lavera’s equally emotional and physical performance. Terrifier mastermind Damien Leone recently told THR that Lavera’s Sienna is not only his favorite character, but that she’s also the “heart and soul” of his successful franchise.
“It’s just as much her franchise as it is Art the Clown’s at this point,” Leone told The Hollywood Reporter in a recent interview ahead of Oct. 11th’s theatrical release of Terrifier 3.

“They wanted to get a shot under the water of my foot making contact with her body, but I couldn’t see where her body was,” explained Fahy. “So she was just like, floating, waiting for my foot to like enter her general space. And I hit her in the face by accident.

Years before Joaquin Phoenix left Todd Haynes hanging, he dropped out of another major director’s film with days to spare.
James McAvoy recently recounted his “last minute” preparation for the starring role in M. Night Shyamalan‘s 2016 thriller Split after the Oscar-winning actor exited the production two weeks before filming kicked off in Philadelphia.
“I’m confident enough to think I’ll do it better. I’m joking!” said McAvoy on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. “He’s an amazing actor. I think he’d give a very different performance to the one I did, but I think he’d give an incredible performance.”
He added, “Sometimes coming in last minute is the best way. I think he ditched it two weeks before they started shooting. It was really last minute. I had two weeks.”

Although Naomi Watts wrangles a huge Great Dane, The Friend is far from your average doggie movie. There are no slapstick scenes of the dog running away with her, and no mawkishness even though the film is about grief. This is a fresh, unsentimental yet touching story about Iris (Watts), a writer and teacher, adjusting to life without her best friend, Walter (Bill Murray), a famous, womanizing author. His suicide was a shock. But another shoe drops when she learns that he has left her Apollo, a Great Dane who almost comes up to her waist.
The drama is based on Sigrid Nunez’s novel, which, while much loved and admired, seems unadaptable on the page: It is told in the first person and Iris frequently addresses Walter directly, dropping in comments about writing and books as well as recalling the details of their past relationship. But directors Scott McGehee...

Aubrey Plaza starred in The White Lotus Season 2, but the star has not seen herself in the series almost two years after it aired on HBO.
Due to technical difficulties, the Parks and Recreation alum says she hasn’t seen the Mike White-created series.
“I still haven’t, but I’m going to,” Plaza said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal. “To be honest, I had trouble opening my HBO Max account when I was trying to watch it originally. I couldn’t figure out the password and I usually just give up when I can’t figure out the passwords. I just can’t handle things like that.”
Plaza said that she has requested DVDs of the series to watch it, adding, “I’d love a DVD, but they don’t send DVD sets anymore. I ask them every time.”

Unfortunately, it's time to say goodbye to a few movies leaving Netflix in August 2024, including The Edge of Seventeen starring Hailee Steinfeld.
At the end of every month, there are usually a handful of movies that leave Netflix and head to a different streaming service or cable network. In August, there are more than a few movies that I think people will be especially bummed are leaving Netflix.
We shared a list of six good movies leaving Netflix in August, including an action movie from a man who is probably really going through it right now, Ben Affleck.

You have less time to watch The Accountant than any of the other movies on the list! The Accountant starring Ben Affleck leaves Netflix on Monday, Aug. 26, so you have to watch the movie this week.

It Ends With Us starring Blake Lively is set to blossom in theaters and do well at the box office, especially because it is adapted from the best-selling book by Colleen Hoover. Directed by Justin Baldoni, who also stars in the film as Ryle, the movie centers on Lily Bloom (Lively) as she falls in love with Ryle, a charismatic neurosurgeon, only to learn that he can have violent moments.
Right as the relationship with Ryle gets more serious, Lily experiences a blast from the past as she runs into her first love Atlas (Brandon Sklenar) who is now a chef living in Boston like he dreamed of when they were in high school. From here, on Lily faces a choice, and it’s not between the two men, but rather whether to stay with or leave Ryle.
