12 Actors We Want To See In The White Lotus
Image
One of the great joys in watching HBO's "The White Lotus" is witnessing its immaculate ensemble cast each season. From breakout talents to generational stars, showrunner Mike White and casting director Meredith Tucker always assemble an exciting, diverse team of actors and actresses to match wits and even trade spars, making for an exciting prestige TV experience. Some of them play into their effortlessly executed character types, while others surprise us with new dimensions to their traditional personas.

At the time of this writing, audiences have already spent three suspenseful stays at The White Lotus, and a fourth is already on schedule. This anthology series -- though some wonder if it can still be called an anthology -- will need a new cast soon enough, so the question remains: Who should we see next? There's unlimited possibilities for strong casting, not only in fan-favorite character actors but also in the...

‘Lotr: The Rings Of Power’ Adds Trio To Cast As Season 3 Starts Production
Image
Andrew Richardson (Ponies) has been cast as a series regular and Zubin Varla (Andor) and Adam Young (Masters of the Air) as recurring in the upcoming third season of Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, which recently began filming at the Amazon MGM Studios series’ new U.K. production home, Shepperton Studios.

British actors Richardson, Varla and Young — who all have extensive theater background — join previously announced new Season 3 cast additions, Stranger Things‘ Jamie Campbell Bower, who will be a series regular, and Eddie Marsan, who will recur.

As usual, no information on the characters is provided. There had been speculative casting information about a new Season 3 series regular role of a sea captain in his 20s that could be who Richardson will portray.

Varla is not an entirely new cast addition to The Rings of Power — he provided voice work on three episodes...

M. Night Shyamalan's Best Movie In The Past 20 Years Now Has A New Streaming Home
Image
M. Night Shyamalan's career has been up and down, but one of his best films in years has found a new streaming home nearly a decade after it premiered. The director became a household name with the release of 1999's The Sixth Sense, and he produced a string of films in the early 2000s that were massive hits with shocking plot twists. However, the bloom began to come off the rose with Shyamalan after a series of critical missteps, though he could be counted on to deliver a hit or two occasionally.

Though early films like The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable showed off the director's clear vision and unique eye for storytelling, others were notoriously poor. Critical bombs like The Happening showed that Shyamalan's blockbuster days were beginning to wane. After a few more huge projects fell through, Shyamalan's films took on a decidedly smaller scale and were improved.

Sarah Sherman Felt Terrible That ‘White Lotus’ Star Aimee Lou Wood Found ‘SNL’ Sketch ‘Mean and Unfunny’
Image
“Saturday Night Live” regular Sarah Sherman admitted she “felt terrible” when “The White Lotus” star Aimee Lou Wood was insulted by the show’s April sketch that mocked the actress’ distinctive teeth.

“I was excited to play her because she’s so iconic, her character is so iconic, and I f–king obviously never meant to hurt anyone’s feelings,” Sherman told Vanity Fair in an interview published on Tuesday. “Never in a million years did I get into comedy to make anyone upset. I feel terrible that anyone would feel bad.”

After the segment aired, Wood objected to Sherman’s portrayal of her somewhat ditzy character Chelsea, which included prosthetic teeth to mimic Wood’s natural smile.

“I did find the ‘SNL’ thing mean and unfunny,” Wood wrote on Instagram at the time. “[It’s] such a shame cuz I had such a great time watching it a couple weeks ago.

This country superstar revealed she auditioned for an iconic role in The White Lotus
Image
One of the most memorable characters in The White Lotus history could have looked a lot different had the role went to the country superstar who auditioned for the role. No, a country icon didn't go out for Jennifer Coolidge's role as Tanya. Kelsea Ballerini just revealed that she auditioned for Portia in season 2.

The role of Tanya's eccentrically dressed assistant ultimately went to Haley Lu Richardson, and we couldn't imagine anyone else inhabiting the role as perfectly as Richardson. But picturing the Grammy Award-nominated singer, who's dating Outer Banks star Chase Stokes, in the role is still interesting! She shared the admission of her audition with People, saying:

"I have no shame in my game! I auditioned for the second season of The White Lotus for the role [of] Jennifer Coolidge's assistant that Haley did. But yeah, I did audition for that. Fun fact."

Kelsea Ballerini Says She Auditioned for ‘White Lotus’ Role as Jennifer Coolidge’s Assistant
Image
Kelsea Ballerini has revealed she tried out for a spot on The White Lotus‘ second season, which would have seen her playing Tanya’s (Jennifer Coolidge) assistant Portia. Speaking to People at the Variety Power of Women Nashville event on Thursday (May 1), The Voice coach confessed to auditioning for The White Lotus role that ultimately went to The Edge of Seventeen star Haley Lu Richardson. “I have no shame in my game,” Ballerini said when asked what acting roles she’s tried out for. “I auditioned for the second season of The White Lotus for the role [of] Jennifer Coolidge’s assistant that Haley did.” Even though the “Cowboys Cry Too” singer didn’t land the part in the hit HBO series, she has no hard feelings. She praised Richardson’s performance, saying she acted it “so brilliantly and beautifully,” adding, “But yeah, I did audition for that. Fun fact.” Jennifer Coolidge,...

She isn’t a Hollywood regular in acting but a chart-topping country singer. The singer took her chance in the hope of landing a breakout role. While the job went to Richardson, this adds yet another addition of celebrity name involved in the star-studded cast of The White Lotus.

All 3 of The White Lotus seasons ranked from worst to best
Image
The White Lotus, created by Mike White, is the hottest show in the world right now! The third season of the hit HBO series just came to an end in April 2025, four years after the series premiered in the summer of 2021.

How Jon Gries’ Return To ‘The White Lotus’ Could Shape Season 3
Image
Spoiler Alert: This piece discusses plot points from the first two episode of The White Lotus.

Up until Season 3 of The White Lotus, many assumed that an ingredient for the show’s separate island itinerary format was one connecting character from a previous season. Jennifer Coolidge, as Tanya McQuoid, appeared in back-to-back seasons, initially as a woman mourning her mother and then as an adventurous newlywed.

Natasha Rothwell’s Belinda Lindsey befriended Tanya in Season 1, and while Rothwell sat Season 2 out, she has brought Belinda back in full force to Thailand for Season 3. As Rothwell explained to Deadline ahead of episode one, Belinda is navigating the line between hotel guest and employee this season, as she is more of the former while learning from a group of the latter to broaden her own career knowledge and expertise.

What nobody saw coming was a character who could connect all three seasons...

The One Thing Jennifer Coolidge Hopes To See In The White Lotus Season 3
Image
Jennifer Coolidge was, without question, the best part of the first two seasons of "The White Lotus" — and I'm not being hyperbolic, considering that she won two Emmys for the role. Her character, the eccentric and often selfish heiress Tanya McQuoid, visits both the Maui and Siciliy locations of the fictional hotel The White Lotus. Tanya eventually meets her untimely demise aboard a boat in Italy ... which is ironic, considering that she shoots her way out of an apparent murder plot and then dies by falling off said boat trying to jump into a dinghy.

Ever since Tanya died in the season 2 finale, fans of "The White Lotus" have speculated that Tanya's wayward husband Greg (Jon Gries) was somehow responsible for the initial murder plot, which involved Tom Hollander's Quentin and a boat full of, to paraphrase Tanya, "gays trying to kill her." Apparently, Coolidge herself agrees!

The Brutalist is about a great architect. Columbus is a heartfelt tribute to great architecture
John Cho
This critically acclaimed drama about how spaces can haunt and heal us is the finest work of John Cho, Haley Lu Richardson and director Kogonada’s careers

Get our weekend culture and lifestyle email

Brady Corbet’s Oscar hopeful The Brutalist offers a somewhat skewed depiction of architectural intent, one where public demonstrations of genius and private catharses have an outsized impact on a building’s design. Grand gestures and hidden intentions make for good drama but physical space in The Brutalist is rendered secondary to psychological space – it’s a film about a great architect, not great architecture. For the latter, one must watch the Korean-American director Kogonada’s film Columbus.

Early on in this gentle drama, Jin (John Cho) speaks of the renowned architect James Polshek’s belief in architecture as a “healing art” while looking at one of Polshek’s designs: the glass walkway of the Columbus regional mental health center.
