Exclusive: Signature Entertainment has acquired UK & Irish rights to horror-comedy Screamboat from DeskPop Entertainment.

The film stars David Howard Thornton, Art the Clown in the Terrifier franchise, as a murderous Steamboat Willie. The synopsis reads: “A late-night boat ride in New York City becomes a struggle for survival when a seemingly harmless mouse transforms into a dangerous monster.”

Also starring are Tyler Posey (Teen Wolf), Kailey Hyman (Terrifier 2), Jesse Posey (Selena: The Series), Jesse Kove (D-Day: Battle of Omaha Beach) and Brian Quinn (Impractical Jokers).

Pic is produced by Amy Schumacher, Martine Melloul, and Steven Lamorte (the team behind The Mean One) in collaboration with Steven Della Salla and Michael Leavy (Terrifier franchise) and directed by Lamorte from a script he co-wrote with Matthew Garcia-Dunn (Silent Hill: Ascension). The first teaser for Iconic Events Releasing's upcoming Screamboat movie didn't actually reveal the murderous mouse, but thanks to a new promo image (via Variety), we now have a first look at David Howard Thornton - who plays Art the Clown in the Terrifier films - as a twisted take on the classic cartoon character.

This project is not part of the Twisted Childhood Universe, aka the "Poohniverse," but by the looks of this reprehensible rodent, he'd fit right in.

A new twist on a beloved classic is set to hit theaters this April. Screamboat, a horror spoof of the 1928 Disney short Steamboat Willie, will bring a sinister version of the iconic mouse to life. The release date, originally slated for January, was recently pushed to April by Iconic Events Releasing.

Alongside this announcement, fans were treated to the first look at the murderous mouse, played by David Howard Thornton, known for his chilling performance as Art the Clown in the Terrifier franchise.

Steamboat Willie’s reign of terror is now set to hit the big screen this spring.

Iconic Events Releasing has shifted the U.S. theatrical release date of the Steamboat Willie horror movie “Screamboat” from late January to April. The distributor has also unveiled a first look at the killer mouse, portrayed by David Howard Thornton, best known for his role as Art the Clown in the “Terrifier” franchise.

As we usher in a brand-new year of genre filmmaking, I think it’s also worth looking back on what did and didn’t work about our previous trip around the sun. When it comes to the horror genre, that means celebrating the latest additions to horror iconography that were cooked up by filmmakers attempting to take the genre to the next level.

And in a year chalk-full of new monsters and killers I thought it might be fun to highlight six of the scariest horror masks of 2024. After all, a slasher is only as good as his murderous attire, and last year offered up plenty of memorable headgear for fans of stylish antagonists.

As usual, this list is purely based on personal opinion, but keep in mind that we’ll be focusing on the scare factor and memorability of the masks themselves rather than the overall quality of the film they originally appeared in.

Tim Curry's new horror movie, titled Stream, marks his big screen return after 14 years. The English actor rose to relevancy with his role as Dr. Frank-n-Furter in the 1975 film The Rocky Horror Picture Show, reprising a role he originated in the musical stage production. Curry has appeared in many movies over the years, the last of which was Burke & Hare in 2010, before suffering a major stroke in 2012 and being confined to a wheelchair, and has since shifted mostly to voice acting.

Now, 14 years after his last feature film role, the seasoned actor is returning to the big screen. Per Variety, Curry is set to make a comeback portraying a character in the upcoming horror movie Stream, which releases in select theaters on August 21. Horror legend Tony Todd has passed away at the age of 69. The news comes as a shock to fans of the genre who grew up watching the actor in films like Candyman and Night of the Living Dead. He also lent his voice to several iconic characters including Dracula, Venom, and Darkseid. He was last seen in Michael Leavy’s slasher horror, Stream.

“Screamboat,” a horror-comedy reimagining of Disney’s Steamboat Willie character that recently entered the public domain, has announced final additions to its cast ahead of a sales screening at the American Film Market in Las Vegas, Nev. Producers reveal that the film’s ensemble includes Tyler Posey, best known as the lead of MTV’s “Teen Wolf” series, and Kailey Hyman, who appeared in Damien Leone’s “Terrifier 2” and made a return appearance in this fall’s “Terrifier 3.”

Posey and Hyman will play key characters in “Screamboat.” The production also revealed that Brian Quinn and Joe DeRosa will feature in cameo roles. “After surviving Art the Clown’s Halloween massacre, Sienna and her brother are struggling to rebuild their shattered lives. As the holiday season approaches, they try to embrace the Christmas spirit and leave the horrors of the past behind.

On January 1st, the earliest versions of Mickey Mouse – seen in the animated shorts Plane Crazy, The Gallopin’ Gaucho, and most famously Steamboat Willie – became public domain… which, of course, means we’re now going to get multiple horror movies that feature characters inspired by Mickey Mouse. Within the first three days of the year, we saw the short film The Vanishing of S.S. Willie, a trailer for the slasher movie Mickey’s Mouse Trap, and an announcement that Terrifier 2 producers Steven Della Salla and Michael Leavy and director Steven Lamorte, who previously made the Grinch-inspired horror movie The Mean One, were teaming up for a Steamboat Willie-inspired horror flick that we now know is titled Screamboat. The short film that introduced Mickey Mouse to the world, 1928’s Steamboat Willie entered the public domain this year, and the upcoming Screamboat turns the tale into a nightmare.

From the production teams behind Terrifier 2 and The Mean One, Screamboat is coming to theaters in 2025 via Iconic Events Releasing, with Terrifier, Terrifier 2 and Terrifier 3 star David Howard Thornton (“Art the Clown”) playing the film’s twisted version of Steamboat Willie. While genre buffs have been ride-or-die for Leavy since he appeared in “Terrifier,” they were more important than ever for his latest indie gore fest. After saving the production from folding to Covid, Leavy made them official members of the “Stream” Team by giving them producer credits as thanks.

“Covid hit us right in the middle of production and we had used all of our funds for PPE and the Hepa filters,” Leavy explained. “So we ended up saying, ‘Let’s bring this to the horror community.’ And we offered producer credits and things like that for anybody who wanted to get involved.”

“Stream” follows a family of four who goes on vacation to soothe their infighting.
