I’m With Her Try to Explain Their Otherworldly Harmonies. It’s Not Easy
Image
I have approximately the time it takes for I’m With Her to pile into a sprinter van backstage at Colorado’s Telluride Bluegrass Festival and drive to their late-night show at the nearby Sheridan Opera House to conduct a fast-paced interview.

But, in truth, three and a half minutes of listening to songs like “Ancient Light,” “Year After Year,” or “Mother Eagle (Sing Me Alive)” is all you need to grasp the appeal of the supergroup trio. Their innate gifts for harmony, melody, and songwriting make their songs, especially those...

There was also a special celebration of Toy Caldwell, the late guitarist and singer for Marshall Tucker Band, by the supergroup Toy Factory Project.

“What’s special about Telluride is being on that main stage,” Aoife O’Donovan of the supergroup I’m With Her tells Rolling Stone. “Being in the...

Iron & Wine and I’m With Her Reveal Collaborative Song “Robin’s Egg”: Stream
Image
Iron & Wine and I’m With Her, the trio of Sarah Jarosz, Aoife O’Donovan, and Sara Watkins, have joined forces for the new song, “Robin’s Egg.” The song arrives ahead of their stretch of co-headlining US tour dates taking place in July 2025.

Their new collaborative song “Robin’s Egg” is an upbeat, whimsical slice of indie folk; Iron & Wine takes the first verse, I’m With Her the second, and they both join forces in harmony in the final chorus. “You got blue and loosey-goosey/ I went robin’s egg” they repeat in the refrain over a driving drumbeat and warm acoustic strumming. Watch the song’s colorful animated music video directed by Lizi Breit below.

Of the new track and tour, Iron & Wine shared, “I had the start of ‘Robin’s Egg’ kicking around and began finishing the tune earlier this year with I’m With Her in mind.

The most-anticipated night in music is finally here!

On Sunday, the biggest names in music gathered for the 65th Grammy Awards, marking the ceremony’s official return to Los Angeles following a Covid-induced move to Las Vegas last year.

Lamar’s Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers helped him earn eight nominations, while Adele and Brandi Carlile tied with seven for their records, 30 and In These Silent Days, respectively.

Will Grammys leave the door open for Silk Sonic (Bruno Mars and Anderson Paak)? Supergroups have a strong track record
Image
R&b superstars Bruno Mars and Anderson Paak have joined forces to form a duo called Silk Sonic. The single “Leave The Door Open,” off their album “An Evening with Silk Sonic,” has so far been tremendously popular, recently topping the Billboard Hot 100. But while their continued commercial success seems all but certain, one question does remain: what are their Grammy chances? Let’s look at some past supergroups to see how the recording academy has reacted to them and what that might mean for this new dynamic duo.

The Highwomen

This critically acclaimed all-female supergroup consists of Grammy winners Maren Morris, Brandi Carlile, Amanda Shires, and Natalie Hemby. The country and Americana quartet released their debut album in late 2019 to great reviews. As for the Grammys, they surprisingly only got one nom for Best Country Song for “Crowded Table,” which they eventually won against bigger hits like Miranda Lambert...

Music at Home: Nature Songs
Image
Nature hasn’t always been pop music’s closest friend. Unlike unrequited love, coming of age, or escaping your hometown on the open road, songs about oak trees or daffodils or sunny mountain faces don’t tend to inspire the type of cathartic release we expect from our most beloved anthems.

That is, until this spring, when people across the world have been forced to remain indoors indefinitely as we ride out the worst of the global coronavirus pandemic. Almost overnight, three-minute songs about clean air or fresh water sources...

Sara Bareilles
Sara Bareilles is back at the Grammys with the eighth nomination of her career, but it’s the first in the Americana field, where she’s up for Best American Roots Performance for “Saint Honesty,” a song she co-wrote with Grammy-winning country songwriter Lori McKenna. Bareilles first made the cut in 2009 when she was a newcomer nominated for Song of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for her breakthrough hit “Love Song.” Then came two more pop performance nominations for “King of Anything” (2011) and “Brave” (2014), plus a surprise Album of the Year nom for “The Blessed Unrest” (2014).

Death of the Album, Pt. 2 - July Singles
"You Are In Love" - Shannon Whitworth: High Tide (Ef Records)

Damn, playing a Gibson Sg never looked or sounded so sexy! Before the press folks dropped her new album on me, I didn't know of this compelling singer-songwriter formerly with the North Carolina outfit The Biscuit Burners. This is my pick hit from her new effort. Collaborating with bassist Bill Reynolds of Band of Horses has given her a chiming folk-rock vibe on her third solo effort. And tours with the Tedeschi Trucks Band and Chris Isaak certainly helped inform her "new" sound.

"The Corner Man" - Barrence Whitfield & The Savages: Dig the Savage Soul (Bloodshot)

He's back!!!! Punk-rockin' horn-honkin' R&B fury comin' at you like Iggy channeling Lil' Richard and Wicked Wilson Pickett. Everybody on the floor and do the worm! Now the Gator!!! Download it now!
