Actors Who Stole the Show in 2024 (in Multiple Movies)
Image
2024 was a packed year for several actors working in Hollywood, whether they are continuously rising stars or already well-established names in the industry. The year had plenty of noteworthy character-driven dramas, animated features, chaotic comedies, and big-budget blockbusters to keep audiences entertained. More importantly, these actors proved their capability of playing two different types of characters.

For example, multiple actors from the enthralling and visually stunning Dune: Part Two, like Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, and Austin Butler, also appeared in acclaimed and award-worthy dramas in the same year. They are just a few of many actors who stole the show in 2024 with their commanding screen presence and shockingly good versatility. From newcomers like Cailee Spaeny to big-name stars like Chris Hemsworth, 2024 was a spectacular year for these particular performers.

“Yes God Yes” Sees Natalia Dyer Discover Sexuality In A Surprisingly Chaste Manner
Natalia Dyer at an event for The 70th Primetime Emmy Awards (2018)
A coming of age story can take a number of routes when doing its thing. Some opt to really get raunchy, relying on sex to sell. Others focus on the emotional journey of a teenager. Few are able to meld the two cohesively, since there’s usually a high art/low art divide that gets in the way. This week, Yes God Yes is the kind of coming of age movie that manages to thread that needle. Now, there are a handful of bumps along the way, as well as an inconsistent tone, but the work of Natalia Dyer, as well as the genuine heart on display, rules the day. The film is a mix of comedy and drama, set in the early 2000s. Sixteen-year-old Alice (Dyer) has always been a good Catholic girl in the Midwest, but that’s about to change. When an innocent AOL chat room excursion accidentally turns racy,...

‘Yes, God, Yes’ Review: Natalia Dyer Shines in Witty Catholic Coming-of-Age Sex Comedy
Image
It’s an idea that’s probably a tough sell to anyone who never came of age in the cloistered world of Catholic high schools: that the coolest event imaginable to upperclassmen was a weekend-long retreat in which the only priority was to get closer to God. Every minute of it was scheduled to maximize devotion and confession, every moment was overseen by a stern teacher or clergyperson, the idea of even sneaking in a cell phone was so foreign as to not even be considered, and the most in-demand accessory was a neon-covered “teen Bible” that mistook Comic Sans as a hip font choice. Crying was all but required, sharing horribly embarrassing secrets was the primary currency, and when someone would ask if 48 hours at a faux campsite about 30 minutes from campus had changed your life, there was only one acceptable answer: “yes, God, yes!”

First-time filmmaker Karen Maine...

SXSW Film Review: ‘Yes, God, Yes’
You don’t have to be Catholic, lapsed or otherwise, to be amused by “Yes, God, Yes,” writer-director Karen Maine’s semi-autobiographical account of a Catholic high school girl’s coming-of-age experiences with self-discovery and self-gratification. On the other hand, the gentle shocks of recognition afforded by this engaging indie comedy likely will be all the more enjoyable (when they aren’t mildly discomforting) for anyone, male or female, who remembers having to confess impure thoughts to an inquisitive priest, or fearing the consequences of actions so forcefully proscribed by nuns and lay teachers during religion classes.

The movie received a special jury prize for best ensemble after its world premiere at the SXSW Film Festival. But there can be no dispute that Natalia Dyer (“Stranger Things”) is first among equals here as Alice, a 16-year-old virgin who has already experienced her first stirrings of sexual turn-on after watching — repeatedly...

'Walking Dead' Season 5 Casts Tyler James Williams
Tyler James Williams
Tyler James Williams has been confirmed to star in Season 5 of The Walking Dead, playing a character named Noah.

The role doesn't originate in Robert Kirkman's comic books, but there is a character named Noah Cruz, who appeared in The Walking Dead prequel video game Survival Instinct. It hasn't been confirmed if Tyler James Williams is playing Noah Cruz or not, but the actor matches up with the video game character's age and ethnicity. The series featured another character named Noah, a Woodbury resident played by Parker Wierling in two Season 3 episodes. He was eventually killed during Woodbury's battle with Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and his group.

Tyler James Williams was on the set last month, and there is speculation that he is the male who follows Beth (Emily Kinney) out of the hospital in a recent trailer. The actor also "fits the description" of an actor seen on the...
