How the ‘Gold Rush: Dave Turin’s Lost Mine’ Trailer Deals With Jesse Goins’ Death (Exclusive Video)
Dave Turin in Gold Rush: Dave Turin's Lost Mine (2019)
Season 3 of “Gold Rush: Dave Turin’s Lost Mine” will be a bit heavy — and we’re not talking about good weight on the digital scale. Midway through production on the upcoming season, which TheWrap has learned will air beginning March 19 on Discovery Channel and Discovery+, gold room operator Jesse Goins died.

The trailer for the Box Creek, Colorado-set season, which we can also exclusively debut, does not shy away from the loss — though it also does not mention Goins by name. It opens on a sad Turin, and then we see a fire engine leading an ambulance either away from or to the mining site.

“Oh my God,” Kc Morgan then says.

“Who is it?” Nathan Clark asks.

“It’s hard when you lose a brother,” Jason Sanchez says in the Season 3 sneak peek. “You’ve got to step up.”

Yeah, there’s still (hard) work to be done.

TV Producer Terrence Woods Vanished While Filming On The ‘Gold Rush’ Franchise For Discovery; Two Years Later, His Parents Are Desperate For Answers
Image
It’s a story that sounds like it belongs in a This American Life podcast. A young TV producer mysteriously vanishes while filming on the Gold Rush franchise for Discovery in the abandoned mines of Idaho County, ID. Nearly two years later, there remains not a shred of evidence about Terrence Woods’ whereabouts. Instead, in his absence, there is a grief-stricken family, a befuddled sheriff, and questions for a prolific UK production company ultimately co-owned by Discovery.

Woods was 27 when he went missing on October 5, 2018. Little has been written about his disappearance other than by local U.S. news outlets, but a social media campaign to unearth more information about the Maryland-born filmmaker has gained traction in recent weeks following the Black Lives Matter movement. Woods’ disappearance is being passionately discussed by TV freelancers in closed Facebook groups, while producer Raw TV has come under renewed pressure to provide answers...

Nielsen’s First Lgbtq Ratings Report Is Here, and Gay Viewers Love ‘Game of Thrones’
Nielsen has released its first ever ratings report for same gender households, ushering in a landmark shift in the way the industry views Lgbtq audiences. Nielsen announced the updates to its viewership tracking practices last fall, but today marks the first ratings report resulting from the change. HBO’s “Game of Thrones” was the most popular cable series with same sex households, with “The Rachel Maddow Show” coming in a distant second.

In November of 2018, Nielsen announced it was working closely with GLAAD in order to identify same-sex partner households as part of a “mission to reflect important demographic characteristics.” “As the media marketplace continues to evolve, our clients are increasingly looking to better understand consumers of all types to effectively reach new and unique audiences,” said Nielsen VP Brian Fuhrer at the time, indicating that networks were asking for more detailed information.

Discovery Orders Third ‘Gold Rush’ Spinoff
Discovery Channel has given the greenlit to its third “Gold Rush” spinoff series, TheWrap has learned.

This one stars Dave Turin, a franchise fan favorite who left the main show two years ago, and is aptly titled, “Gold Rush: Dave Turin’s Lost Mine.”

The series will be the network’s first show to stream on Discovery Go, which is free to viewers with a cable subscription, before it airs on cable, debuting with seven new midform episodes on March 8 on the platform. Those episodes will follow Turin’s “search for the one abandoned mine that he’s willing to risk everything for.”

“Dave Turin’s Lost Mine” will make its broadcast premiere April 8 at 10 p.m. Et/Pt on the Discovery Channel. The all-new episodes that air on the network will follow Dave after he makes his selection and will focus on his work in that abandoned mine.

Things are heating up for Todd Hoffman‘s crew and not in a good way.

“Run out of pay … Andy got no pay to send us. We have to shut down now,” Kevin Hiatt says in the clip before shutting down the plant’s equipment.

“It just gets worse every freaking day,” he continues to say. “I have a brand new baby at home that I don’t get to see...

Hoffman crew’s Dave Turin has meltdown in exclusive Gold Rush clip
Gold Rush is having an incredible run with a real nail-biter tonight as part of Discovery’s Mega Week. Hoffman crew member Dave Turin has yet to see paydirt, and this constant disappointment unhinges him — leaving him suffering a meltdown on the job. Dave surveys a mound of soil at the Buckland claim and says: “I don’t like the way this looks, like, I think they’re too high, it doesn’t look like pay.” He adds that the claim is “nothing like we thought” and, discouraged after failing to spot gold in the sluices, says: “I just hope they know what they’re setting...read more...

It looks like season 7 of Discovery Channel’s hit series Gold Rush won’t be so golden for Dave Turin after all.

Discovery Tops Friday Nights With Gold Rush
Ratings are everything in television. They determine scheduling, budget, advertising and, ultimately, the life-span of a show. That being the case, it is fairly safe to say that Gold Rush has cemented its place in the Discovery Channel firmament, having topped ratings for male viewers for the second consecutive week.

As reported in Discovery Channel’s most recent press release, Gold Rush specifically rated top in all of television for men aged 25 – 54, and men aged 18 – 49, helping make Discovery Channel the number one network for men on Friday evening.

“Driven by Gold Rush programming and Edge Of Alaska, Discovery Channel was the #1 network in all of television on Friday night among men 18-49 delivery, no exclusions.”

With a total of 4 million viewers, the number tuning in to Gold Rush was almost twice that for Edge Of Alaska – which follows it in the schedules – and twice as many as those that tuned in for its lead-in show,...

'Gold Rush: South America': Todd Hoffman checks in from the jungle
On Friday, Aug. 2, Discovery continues to mine its gold-mining franchises with the premiere of "Gold Rush: South America," in which the miners that America has come to know and love in Alaska and northern Canada seek new ventures to pursue their goals.

The limited summer series follows all three familiar crew leaders -- Todd Hoffman, Dakota Fred Hurt and young Parker Schnabel -- as they go to extremes to continue their dreams.

Preceding it is an episode of the behind-the-scenes series "Gold Rush: The Dirt," with "Gold Rush" executive producer Christo Doyle, which picks up where the last season of "Gold Rush" left off. Doyle talks to the miners and production crew, to preview "Gold Rush: South America."

Another installment of "The Dirt," airing on Aug. 30, looks back at "Gr: Sa" and previews the next season of "Gold Rush."

Off all the miners in "Gd: Sa," Hoffman goes the farthest,...

“Making the Motherlode” special goes behind the scenes of Discovery’s “Gold Rush” Season 3
Last Friday’s airing of Gold Rush Live on Discovery Channel was the No. 1 series in all of television among Men 25-54/18-49 that night, with over 10 million people watching, according to Nielsen. Tonight, March 1, at 8pm Et/Pt, the network will debut Making the Motherlode, an hourlong, behind-the-scenes look at Gold Rush Season 3. Gold Rush Season 3 saw the miners — Todd Hoffman, Jack Hoffman, Dave Turin, Parker Schnabel and Fred Hurt and the Dakota [...]...

The Mother Lode has evaded the Gold Rush gold miners for three seasons. Todd Hoffman, Jack Hoffman, Dave Turin, Parker Schnabel and Fred Hurt and the Dakota boys have battled against equipment breakdowns, infighting and rough weather for three seasons. From Discovery On the two hour live Gold Rush season three finale, the "Do or Die" season of Discovery's #1 series, it was revealed the gold miners brought in a grand total of 1,158 ounces of gold between the three crews. Todd Hoffman set an ambitious 1,000 ounce goal for the season. The third season of Discovery’s smash series Gold Rush, which has been averaging 4.85 million viewers (P2+) and winning the cable race on Fridays, wrapped up tonight with a live two-hour finale that may or may not have set a record for use of the word “smelting.” Discovery has confirmed to EW that the show will definitely be back for a fourth season, so it makes sense that tonight’s finale contained its very own mother lode of bombshells to keep viewers interested while it is away.

Sure, we got the gold totals — the Hoffman/Turin crew took home 803 oz.
