‘Beetlejuice: The Musical’ Heads Back to Broadway This October for a 13-Week Resurrection
Image
The Netherworld-wide sensation returns. For the third time, the popular Beetlejuice: The Musical is coming back to the Broadway stage beginning in October, Deadline reports.

The 13-week resurrection of the Tony-nominated Beetlejuice: The Musical (read our review) kicks off October 8 at The Palace Theatre, and runs through January 3, 2026.

The musical’s official website details, “After haunting theatres all over North America, the national tour of Beetlejuice arrives at its final resting place: Broadway!

“Based on Tim Burton’s dearly beloved film, this hilariously demented musical tells the story of Lydia Deetz, an unusual teenager whose whole life changes when she meets a recently deceased couple and a demon with a thing for stripes. With an irreverent book, an astonishing set, and a score that’s out of this Netherworld, Beetlejuice is “a feast for the eyes and soul!” (Entertainment Weekly). And under its uproarious surface, it’s a remarkably touching show about family,...

‘Beetlejuice’ Returning to Broadway for Third Run
Image
Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice is returning to Broadway for the third time.

The first national tour of Beetlejuice The Musical will play at The Palace Theatre from Oct. 8 for a 13-week engagement through Jan. 3, 2026. The third return to Broadway is unusual (and in keeping with the plot of the show) as the musical’s two previous Broadway engagements were in the last five years and the production has had a bumpy trajectory.

The musical originally ran at Broadway’s Winter Garden Theatre from April 2019, and initially saw low ticket sales until its fortunes turned around, thanks in part to traction on social media and a successful Tonys performance. Despite the reversal in the production’s grosses, theater owners announced plans to force the show out of the theater by June 2020, to make room for The Music Man starring Hugh Jackman. Those plans were delayed by the pandemic, but Beetlejuice did vacate...

Image
Beetlejuice The Musical will return to Broadway for the third time when the First National Tour of the international hit musical comedy begins performances Wednesday, October 8 at The Palace Theatre.

The First National tour of the musical launched on December 7, 2022, at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Theatre and is now in its third year. The tour will play a limited 13-week Broadway resurrection engagement at the Palace through Saturday, January 3, 2026.

Casting was not announced.

For ticket information visit beetlejuicebroadway.com.

Beetlejuice had two unconventional, record-breaking Broadway runs that brought a new and very engaged audience to Broadway via Tiktok, YouTube and social media, playing to sold-out, standing-room-only audiences in 2019 at Broadway’s Winter Garden Theatre and again in 2022 at the Marquis Theatre for a total of 679 Broadway performances.

The First National tour of the musical is concluding a critically acclaimed, record-breaking 88-city tour with one last Broadway resurrection at the Palace.

What To Expect From Disney Treasure's Dining Experiences: Worlds Of Marvel, 1923, And Plaza De Coco
Image
Disney Cruise Line launches its newest ship, the Disney Treasure, on December 21 — and its promise of adventure for the whole family extends even to the dining experiences. The ship is packed with specialty cafes, lounges, and smaller restaurants to cater to individual tastes, as well as buffet-style meal offerings at Marceline Market and Mickey & Friends Festival of Foods. But each night, denizens of the Treasure be the cruise line's guests at one of three designated restaurants: Worlds of Marvel, 1923, and Plaza de Coco.

While a version of the first two already exists aboard the Disney Wish (albeit with some changes that will be described below), Plaza de Coco is an entirely new creation with a full performance on each night that celebrates Mexican culture and furthers the narrative of the beloved 2017 Pixar movie. All three restaurants contain nuggets of adventure, whether they be little-known facts about Disney's golden age or...

How Disney Cruise Line's Disney Treasure Brought The Tale of Moana to Life
Image
Moana is having a banner year in 2024, with its highly-anticipated sequel Moana 2 already making over $700M dollars at the global box office and a live-action in the works. With Disney Cruise Line fast approaching the grand opening of its latest ship, Disney Treasure, a third project has joined the ranks of Motunui representation. Sure to become a fan-favorite, the Broadway-quality production retells the story of the first movie and retains the catchy songs and big heart that made it a hit.

The Tale of Moana boasts gorgeous animatronics and puppetry work courtesy of visual artist Michael Curry, who previously designed the masks and puppets for Disney's The Lion King on Broadway. The chorus of dancers that make up the village of Motunui also pull double duty to represent the ocean that chose Moana and watches over her in her journey, and the anthropomorphic water is choreographed to perfection by Peter Rockford Espiritu,...

Marla Mindelle Explains How Margot Robbie Became Involved with 'The Big Gay Jamboree' Musical
Image
Margot Robbie is co-producing a stage musical for the first time and the show’s star and creator Marla Mindelle is explaining how the collaboration happened!

The acclaimed actress and writer, who previously created the hit show Titanique, participated in a press day for her new musical The Big Gay Jamboree on Tuesday (September 12) at the Orpheum Theatre in New York City.

Marla was joined at the event by co-stars Alex Moffat, Constantine Rousouli, Paris Nix, and Natalie Walker, as well as director and choreographer Connor Gallagher, and co-writers Jonathan Parks-Ramage and Philip Drennen.

The Big Gay Jamboree centers on Stacey (Mindelle), who after blacking out from 18 Jägerbombs, wakes up hungover in the most terrifying place of all: an Off-Broadway musical. ‘Titanique’s’ Marla Mindelle Will Bring ‘Big Gay Jamboree’ Off-Broadway This Fall
Image
Marla Mindelle, who starred in and co-created the Off-Broadway hit Titanique, is debuting her new musical The Big Gay Jamboree Off-Broadway this fall.

The show is co-written by Mindelle and is described as a parody of musical theater itself. Sue Wagner, John Johnson, and Margot Robbie’s production company LuckyChap are serving as producers of the show.

In 2019, LuckyChap had announced a deal to produce the title as a movie musical for Paramount, however that has not yet materialized. Their involvement in the stage show marks LuckyChap’s first foray into theater.

The Big Gay Jamboree features a book by Mindelle and by Jonathan Parks-Ramage (author of Yes, Daddy), with music and lyrics by Mindelle and Philip Drennen and direction and choreography by Connor Gallagher (Beetlejuice on Broadway). Alex Brightman Will Return To Haunt Broadway’s ‘Beetlejuice’ This Spring
Image
Apparently fans have been saying his name three times: Alex Brightman will return as Broadway’s favorite ghost when Beetlejuice resumes performances this spring.

As previously announced, the musical, directed by Alex Timbers and adapted from the 1988 Tim Burton film, will resume performances on April 8, this time around at the Marquis Theatre.

Additional cast will be announced shortly..

Brightman’s return is yet another chapter in the rather strange tale of Beetlejuice: The musical opened at the Winter Garden on Thursday, April 25, 2019, to mixed reviews and so-so business, but word-of-mouth built steadily to turn the show into one of Broadway’s most popular new musicals.

That fan base...

‘Beetlejuice’ Will Haunt Broadway Again: Fan-Favorite Musical Sets Return Date
Image
You just can’t keep a beloved ghost dead: Beetlejuice is coming back to haunt Broadway, with a return engagement of the increasingly popular musical taking possession of Broadway’s Marriott Marquis Theatre on Friday, April 8, 2022.

Casting will be announced later.

“We sincerely thank the Beetlejuice fans,” said producers Mark Kaufman (Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures) and Kevin McCormick (Langley Park Productions). “It is because of their support that we will be able to blow the roof off the Marquis Theatre three-times over with fun and laughter, laughter and laughter!”

The producers aren’t exaggerating about the fan power: Beetlejuice, which got off to a relatively slow start when it opened at Broadway’s Winter Garden Theatre in April 2019, with both box office and critics’ review rather hit and miss. But a funny thing happened on the way to the haunting: Over the following summer, ticketbuyers began to materialize, seats started filling.

Broadway’s ‘Beetlejuice’ Musical To End Run In June
Alex Timbers
Producers of Broadway’s Tony-nominated Beetlejuice said Monday that the comedic musical based on Tim Burton’s 1988 cult movie will play its final performance at the Winter Garden Theatre on June 6. A national tour is being mounted to kick off in fall 2021.

Beetlejuice the musical opened April 25, 2019 and was nominated for eight Tonys including Best Musical. It just broke the eight-performance house record at the Winter Garden during Thanksgiving week with $1,589,839, taking the crown from School of Rock ($1.506M in 2015).

Alex Timbers directed the musical which featured an original score by Eddie Perfect, and book by Scott Brown and Anthony King. It centered on Lydia Deetz (played by Winona Rider in the movie and Sophia Anne Caruso on Broadway), the unusual teenager whose life changes when she meets a recently deceased couple and Beetlejuice (Tony nominee Alex Brightman), a demon with a thing for stripes and his own ideas...

‘Beetlejuice’ Broadway Review: It’s Showtime, Ready Or Not
Geena Davis, Winona Ryder, Alec Baldwin, Jeffrey Jones, Michael Keaton, and Catherine O'Hara in Beetlejuice (1988)
Maybe if they’d said it a fourth time. Three times – “Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice!” – summons to life the stripe-coated, fright-wigged demon that made a superstar of Michael Keaton way back when. Could a fourth have magically conjured that extra something needed to transform Broadway’s Beetlejuice into something beyond the realm of good enough?

Directed by the busy and talented Alex Timbers, a long-in-the-making musical comedy Beetlejuice, based, faithfully if not enough, on Tim Burton’s 1988 film opens tonight at Broadway’s Winter Garden Theatre. There’s plenty worth a haunt here, from David Korins’ off-kilter spook house set to Alex Brightman’s raspy-voiced title performance and, most of all, the deliriously gorgeous singing of young Sophia Anne Caruso, and it all comes within reasonable reach of exorcising the bad vibes that attached themselves to the production during its pre-Broadway run in Washington D.

The Beetlejuice musical just cast its lead Ghost with the Most and Lydia. You better start learning to say their names three times fast.

Indeed, the first image of Brightman as Beetlejuice has been released, via EW/People, giving us a glimpse of his stage version of the famous picaresque poltergeist. While we only see him from the back, Brightman – with a visible Cheshire grin – is sporting a sartorial choice...

‘Beetlejuice’ Musical Taps ‘School of Rock’ Broadway Star
Geena Davis, Winona Ryder, Alec Baldwin, Jeffrey Jones, Michael Keaton, and Catherine O'Hara in Beetlejuice (1988)
Alex Brightman will follow in Michael Keaton’s footsteps, assuming the title role in “Beetlejuice” on Broadway. It’s a familiar challenge for the Tony Award nominee. Brightman previously had to put his own spin on a character made famous by Jack Black when he portrayed a hard-playing guitarist/substitute teacher in the Broadway musical “School of Rock.”

In addition, the show’s backers, Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures and Langley Park Productions, announced that Sophia Anne Caruso (“Lazarus”) will co-star as Lydia, a goth teenager who forms a bond with ghosts. Winona Ryder played the part in the Tim Burton film — it helped put her on the map.

“Beetlejuice” is eying a Broadway engagement, but first the musical version of the 1988 hit film will have a trial run at the National Theatre in Washington D.C. It begins performances on Oct. 14 and officially opens on Nov. 4.

Beetlejuice Musical Is Coming to Washington D.C. This Fall
Geena Davis, Winona Ryder, Alec Baldwin, Jeffrey Jones, Michael Keaton, and Catherine O'Hara in Beetlejuice (1988)
Beetlejuice is making his way from the screen to the stage. Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures has announced that their Beetlejuice musical is heading to Washington D.C. this October for its initial run. The hope is that the play will eventually make its way to Broadway in New York, but the current roadmap for those plans has yet to be revealed. Much of that will probably have to do with how this run of shows in D.C. goes, but those of us who have been waiting around somewhat hopelessly for Beetlejuice 2 may have the next best thing to look forward to.

This Beetlejuice musical serves as an adaptation of Tim Burton's 1988 classic movie, which starred Michael Keaton in the titular role, alongside the likes of Winona Ryder, Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis. As far as we know, none of the cast members from the movie are involved in the stage production.

Warner Bros. is Developing a Beetlejuice Musical For Broadway
The classic 1988 Tim Burton film Beetlejuice is now being adapted into a Broadway musical by Warner Bros. Theater Ventures. I don't recall anyone asking for a Beetlejuice musical, but it's happening and it will make its world premiere at the National Theatre in Washington, D.C. in October.

I love the movie Beetlejuice, but I'm not sure what to think about it being turned into a musical. The music and lyrics come from Eddie Perfect, the Australian actor-writer-composer who’s also working on the musical version of King Kong. The musical is also being developed by Scott Brown and Anthony King (Broad City), director Alex Timbers (Rocky, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson) and choreography by Connor Gallagher (The Robber Bridegroom).

They also brought on the design team behind The Lion King to work on the puppets, sets, and costumes that will be used in the Beetlejuice musical. So, at least we...

‘Beetlejuice’ Musical Sets Pre-Broadway Plan

Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures’ brewing musical adaptation of “Beetlejuice” has mapped out its road to Broadway, locking in a world premiere run at the National Theatre in Washington, D.C. in October.

“Beetlejuice” centers on an obnoxious ghost (played by Keaton in the movie) and the misfit teen (played by Rider) who moves into a haunted country house with parents she can’t stand.
