Mel Brooks’ History Of The World, Part II might be a comedy series first, but the Hulu show manages to portray some historically accurate details in its stories as well. The History Of The World series features retellings of iconic historical events through comedy sketches. History Of The World, Part I originally released in 1981, lampooning events such as the Roman Empire’s reign, the Spanish Inquisition, and the French Revolution. Though it took 40 years for the sequel to come out, Hulu has finally released History Of The World, Part II in the form of a TV series, which parodies a new set of historical events.
As a comedy show, History Of The World, Part II isn’t completely accurate to history and exaggerates at times for the sake of jokes. However, the Mel Brooks project has its stories firmly grounded in real historical events, and it gets more historical facts right than viewers might think.
