As 'Superman' Soars in Theaters, Some of DC's Most Underrated Heroes Shine in a New Super Powers Set
Image
James Gunn's Superman featured a ton of great and relatively unknown DC superheroes – at least where mainstream moviegoers were concerned. These heroes included Mr. Terrific (Edi Gathegi), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), and Guy Gardner's Green Lantern (Nathan Fillion). However, this debut Dcu film was just the tip of the iceberg for what will hopefully be a whole world full of colorful Justice League members. Now, as Superman continues to be a major success at the box office, McFarlane Toys has debuted their next wave of DC Comics figures.

A part of McFarlane's nostalgic Super Powers line, there are four new 4.5-inch-tall figures for DC fans to clamor over. This includes Animal Man, Cyborg, Deadman, and Nightwing all in their classic comic looks. They join a long lineup of Super Powers figures that have featured heroes like Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman, alongside villains like Lobo, The Riddler and Sinestro. McFarlane...

As 'Superman' Dominates Theaters, the Man of Steel Takes Flight With New Comic Book Statue
Image
James Gunn'sSuperman is currently flying high in theaters. In just two weeks of release, the first film of the new Dcu has already made over $400 million at the worldwide box office. David Corenswet has also quickly asserted himself on the historic list of actors who have put on the Man of Steel’s iconic cape. Now, as the DC titan continues to soar, McFarlane Toys has unveiled their latest Superman figure.

A part of McFarlane's DC Direct resin statue line, this 1:10th scale piece is based on artwork by Clayton Henry. The Superman Red and Blue statue stands at 6.3 inches tall. It depicts Clark Kent ripping off his suit to reveal the famous Superman suit “S” chest emblem. McFarlane has done a ton of Superman statues in the past, but this is a unique set given that Clark is mostly in his civilian reporter attire. The sepia-toned blue and...

Peter Safran at an event for Blue Beetle (2023)
Superman spin-offs: Mr. Terrific gets trademarked, Jimmy Olsen show rumored to be a crime anthology
Peter Safran at an event for Blue Beetle (2023)
DC Studios heads Peter Safran and James Gunn have launched a new cinematic universe. Chapter One of the DC Universe, Gods and Monsters, officially got started with season 1 of the animated series Creature Commandos back in December, with Superman being the first film in the universe. Peacemaker season 2, which premieres in August, is also part of the Dcu. Other upcoming entries include the film Supergirl, which reaches theatres in June of 2026, the film Clayface, which reaches theatres in September of 2026, and the HBO series Lanterns. A couple of weeks ago, The Wall Street Journal revealed that the universe could continue to expand with TV shows that center on characters who are introduced in Superman. Specifically, they mentioned that “a knowledgeable person” told them Gunn is considering TV spinoffs for characters like superhero Mr. Terrific and reporter Jimmy Olsen. Now, fans have noticed that DC has filed trademark applications for ‘Mr. Terrific’ in multiple categories: Apparel,...

As 'Superman' Soars in Theaters, the Joker Becomes Emperor of the Dcu With New McFarlane Toys Comic Statue
Image
Superman just had a heroic opening week at the box office. The James Gunn-directed film starring David Corenswet has smashed the new Dcu wide open with heroes like Hawkgirl and villains like The Engineer. Now, with Superman inspiring people to read the comics, McFarlane Toys has returned with their latest laugh-worthy DC statue.

A part of McFarlane's DC Direct resin statue line, their latest 1:10th scale figure is The Joker. However, this comic book rendition isn't just any old Clown Prince of Crime. This statue is based on Superman’s “Emperor Joker” storyline from the early 2000s. The piece is based on Ed McGuinness’ art, who worked on the main part of that story with writer Jeph Loeb. The figure has a lot of great detail, like The Joker’s purple royal robe, a shiny crown, and a Harley Quinn cane. The latter is complete with his on-and-off again lover’s smiling head.

James Gunn Admits There Was A Lot Riding On Superman's Success
Image
If Superman had flopped or proved to be yet another DC Comics film that critics eviscerated, where would that leave the Dcu and DC Studios?

I guess we'll never know, or one would have to enter a pocket universe to find out.

With Superman poised to approach or perhaps even eclipse the $400 million global box office mark this weekend and currently sitting at 83% on Rotten Tomatoes, DC Studios co-chief and director James Gunn is finally letting out a huge sigh of relief.

Appearing on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Gunn admitted that he now has a huge weight off his shoulders.

"I have a strange way of approaching work. When I'm working, when I'm filming or writing, I really don't feel pressure- I'm having fun, that's my relief valve. That's a relieving time for me. But then outside of that, yeah, I felt a lot of pressure. I mean, there...

James Gunn Reveals Disappointing Update on Big Dcu Movie, Casting Doubt on Its Future
Image
The Dcu is full of upcoming movies and shows. Superman has already arrived, and it’s doing great, both at the box office and with critics. Fans are now waiting for Supergirl, which is coming next year with Milly Alcock in the lead role and Jason Momoa playing Lobo.

After that, more projects are on the way. New movies featuring Wonder Woman, Batman, and the Teen Titans are in development. Scripts for Swamp Thing, Sgt. Rock, and Clayface are also being worked on, and there are even early plans for films about Bane, Deathstroke, and a new Justice League.

But in the middle of all this news, one project seems to be fading from view. That movie is ‘The Authority.’

Back in January 2023, James Gunn and Peter Safran revealed their first big list of Dcu projects, and ‘The Authority’ was one of them. The film was supposed to focus on...

But among all these exciting updates, there’s one project that seems to be fading from the conversation: The Authority.

The Authority movie was originally announced back in January 2023 when James Gunn and Peter Safran shared their first big plan for the Dcu. This movie was supposed to introduce a superhero team that originally came from WildStorm comics,...

A Less-Powerful Superman Is Necessary So That “A Guy With A Bow And Arrow” Matters Says James Gunn
Image
Some of the biggest complaints from Dceu diehards about the new Superman film are centered around the fact that the characters is not as powerful as depicted in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel.

However, a strong counterpoint is that most of the MCU heavy hitters like Thor and Hulk, are not as powerful as their comic book counterparts and the general audience doesn't seem to mind.

Gunn recently chatted with CBS Mornings and addressed the issue.

"There are some writers in the comics, like Grant Morrison, who took the idea of the all-powerful Superman and told great stories with it. But for me, as a child, the reason I liked Batman better than Superman was because Superman was just too strong at times. We're building a whole universe of characters, and I didn't want to have one guy who was so much stronger than anybody else, that a guy...

James Gunn expresses gratitude for Superman’s warm reception by promoting kindness above division in a heartfelt message to fans
Image
James Gunn’s Superman is flying rings around the box office with a worldwide debut of $217 million, giving the Blue Boy Scout a reason to smile all the way to the Metropolis Bank. The film’s tremendous success comes after months of speculation and online smear campaigns. However, the proof is in Ma Kent’s Blue Ribbon-winning pudding pie, as the movie boasts an A-rating on CinemaScore, and tickets continue to sell like hotcakes.

On Sunday, James Gunn posted a thank-you message to fans, expressing gratitude for their support and willingness to give his vision of the Man of Steel an honest shot.

“I’m incredibly grateful for your enthusiasm and kind words over the past few days,” Gunn wrote on Threads. “We’ve had a lot of ‘Super’ in ‘Superman’ over the years, and I’m happy to have made a movie that focuses on the ‘man’ part of...

Superman 2025: That Interdimensional Imp Is Actually This Classic DC Villain, According to Major Theory
Image
Superman included an interdimensional Imp during a significant part of the movie, which may or may not be this classic DC villain. James Gunn's Superman reboot introduced a plethora of villains that David Corenswet's titular Kryptonian needed to defeat to save Metropolis and the world, such as Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult), the mysterious Ultraman, The Engineer, and a monstrous Kaiju. While these foes are confirmed in the movie's promotional drive, one minor villain in the background became the subject of fan theories online.

Ahead of the movie, Nathan Fillion (who portrayed Guy Gardner) confirmed the existence of an interdimensional Imp in the world of the Dcu, and the Superman trailers even provided a brief glimpse of the fifth dimensional being in the background of Clark Kent and Lois Lane talking. Fillion's confirmation appeared to tease that the strange Superman villain in the movie could be none other than a classic DC foe.

James Gunn Responds to ‘Superman 2’ Release Date Question With Unexpected Answer
Image
James Gunn has fans talking after a surprising comment about the future of Superman movies. During a conversation on Threads, a fan asked Gunn about the release date for Superman 2.

Gunn replied with the short but mysterious message: “Define ‘Superman 2.’” That simple answer has now started rumors that the next Superman movie might not be a normal sequel.

Via Threads

Before this, Gunn had also hinted that the next Superman story would be “a little different than what one might expect.” This has led many people to believe that instead of a regular Superman-only sequel, the next movie might be a crossover with other heroes.

So far, Warner Bros. and DC Studios haven’t officially confirmed any sequel, but it looks like plans are starting to take shape.

David Corenswet, who plays Superman, said in a Vanity Fair interview that he already signed a contract for another Superman movie.

Superman Sets Record Breaking Preview Number For 2025 And James Gunn's Career
James Gunn
Deadline has just reported that James Gunn’s Superman has netted approximately $21M+ in previews. This sets a record for this year in terms of previews and a personal record for the director.

With 82% Tomatometer and 95% Popcornmeter on Rotten Tomatoes, the hype is real as people flocked the previews in North America which includes Tuesday night’s Amazon Prime members screenings.

As the first film in a rebranded universe for the DC brand, Superman beat James Gunn’s previous record for previews with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’s $17.5M. It also stands tall for this year if you are to compare it with other films like Disney’s Lilo & Stitch which had $14.5, The Minecraft Movie with $10.3 million and Captain America Brave New World with $12M.

In the last Superman reboot with Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, the previews resulted to $9M which results to a $116.6M opening weekend.

James Gunn “Didn’t Feel Guilt At All” Leaving MCU To Direct For DC
Image
As James Gunn‘s Dcu launches with the premiere of Superman, his Marvel days appear to be in the past for now.

Following the director’s 2018 ousting from the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, Gunn admitted he “thought my career was over,” but luckily he and Peter Safran were tapped to co-head DC Studios in 2022, opening the door for his next superhero project.

“Toby Emmerich from Warner Bros. at the time came to me. He’s like, ‘James Gunn’s Superman?'” he recalled on the Armchair Expert podcast. “I said, ‘I don’t know, man.’ And then he was like, ‘Well, what about Suicide Squad?’ So I came up with an idea. I went and pitched it. They were like, ‘Yes, let’s do it.'”

The same day, Gunn said he got a call from then-Disney Cco Alan Horn after Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige had campaigned to...

On the red carpet, the movie’s writer and director James Gunn told Deadline his goal of returning to “the color and the joy” of DC’s original superhero, saying, “The comic books I loved growing up, I wanted to imbue this film with that feeling.”

He further cited his desire to deliver a less serious rendition of the story, saying, “It’s lighter. But there’s a lot of heavy stuff in the movie as well…but the character himself is lighter.”

Superman: Come Watch The Red Carpet World Premiere Live Right Now!!
Image
Ahead of tomorrow night's Amazon Prime Early Access Screenings, Warner Bros. is finally ready to debut Superman, their long-awaited Dcu launching pad, to the world and have started a red carpet world premiere live stream - similar to the ones held over by their friends at Marvel Studios - where many of the cast and crew, including leading man David Corenswet, are expected to make appearances, alongside family and possibly surprise members of the extended Dcu.

If you haven't already, make sure to secure your tickets for either tomorrow night or this weekend. While Jurassic World Rebirth will likely provide some stiff competition, especially after its gargantuan $323 million opening weekend, the early projections are looking at a $90 million to $125 million opening for the Man of Steel, and we'd reckon, it'll end up opening on the higher end of that range.

Superman: David Corenswet tried to think of reasons to turn down the role
David Corenswet in Superman (2025)
Playing an iconic character like Superman, and dealing with all the baggage and public scrutiny that comes with it, isn’t for everyone. Even David Corenswet, who stars in James Gunn’s upcoming Superman, admitted to GQ that he wrestled with the decision and tried to come up with reasons to say no.

“A role like Superman seems like something that everybody would want, and that’s not true. There are some people who wouldn’t want that role and who would, if given the opportunity, say no. I am obviously not one of those people. But I certainly tried to think of reasons not to,” Corenswet said. “Ultimately, what I landed on for myself was, if this is the only role I get to play for the rest of my life, and that means whether I get to play it once or get to play it 10 times, would I still say yes?...

Update: First Positive Superman Review Surfaces As Another Media Outlet Breaks Embargo

Update: A second positive review has surfaced, via GQ Magazine. Check it out below.

GQ calls the film, "one of the most distinct superhero films in a long time, with a tone that feels honest and true to the spirit of Superman- and therefore, at odds with pretty much everything else in the genre right now. Gunn's approach is colorful, both in its palette and the costumes; proudly fantastical with flying orbs, robots, portals, and giant monsters...You won't find any controversial neck-snapping here."

Another outlet broke embargo and gave an overwhelmingly positive review for James Gunn’s #Superman...

First Positive Superman Review Surfaces As Another Media Outlet Breaks Embargo
Image
Superman's review embargo doesn't lift until tomorrow but it seems anticipation for the first Dcu film from James Gunn has several media outlets willing to risk being banned from future advance screenings by Warner Bros.

Previously, The Daily Beast posted a review three days ago, calling the film an "overstuffed Saturday morning cartoon" that was "silly" and overpopulated by "two-dimensional heroes and villains."

There have been other reactions that have broken the embargo in the interim, but we now have our second full review and it's much more positive.

The Sunday Times calls the film a "triumph" and says that "after a long wait, this is the film the character deserves."

James Gunn Says ‘Superman’ Is About an ‘Immigrant That Came From Other Places’ and How We’ve ‘Lost’ the Value of ‘Basic Human Kindness’: ‘Yes, It’s About Politics’
Image
James Gunn is opening up about what “Superman” is really about.

In his Sunday profile with The Times of London, the DC Studios head went deep on the themes and ideas that drive his highly anticipated “Superman.” He explained that the superhero epic encompasses “the story of America,” and at a basic level, is about a man searching for a better life away from his original home.

“I mean, ‘Superman’ is the story of America,” Gunn explained. “An immigrant that came from other places and populated the country, but for me it is mostly a story that says basic human kindness is a value and is something we have lost.”

Gunn acknowledged that the movie’s themes may be interpreted differently across political groups, especially considering the current nationwide unrest around immigration. However, Gunn stands by the ideals embedded in “Superman,” and added that he doesn’t care if anyone takes offense.

Superman: Hawkgirl Actress Isabela Merced Is Down For A Green Lantern Romance In The Dcu
Image
While in the comics, Hawkgirl is traditionally romantically linked to Hawkman, the Justice League and Justice League Unlimited cartoon introduced a relationship between Hawkgirl and Green Lantern John Stewart that had its fair share of shippers.

Actress Isabela Merced, who plays Hawkgirl in James Gunn’s upcoming Superman film, appears to be a fan of that version of the character, especially the romance between Hawkgirl and Green Lantern that was depicted across several seasons.

In a recent interview with Nerdist, she expressed interest in exploring a similar storyline in the DC Universe, if that’s the direction the creative team decides to take her character.

"I really love the idea- and that's why I love Lois and Clark's story, of the alien and human love story. There's just something so romantic about that to me. It's like, 'We shouldn't, but we should, but we shouldn't.' And that really...

‘Superman’ Star David Corenswet Reached Out to Henry Cavill and Tyler Hoechlin for Advice, but They Said We’re ‘Not Gonna Try and Give You Any Tips’: ‘Superman’s Not So Much for Giving Advice’
Image
The new Superman has to save the world all on his own.

In a red carpet interview with Heart at the London premiere of James Gunn’s “Superman,” star David Corenswet discussed asking for advice from Henry Cavill and Tyler Hoechlin, who both played the DC icon in “Man of Steel” and “Superman & Lois,” respectively. Although they were “encouraging” to Corenswet, they didn’t want to influence his performance.

“Both of them, interestingly, sort of said in their own words, ‘I’m not gonna try and give you any tips,'” Corenswet explained. “And I think that’s a very Superman thing. Superman’s not so much for giving advice or dictating how other people should be.”

He continued, “They really just conveyed to me an encouragement and a sense of ‘have fun with it’, which I think is Superman’s way of doing it too. They were very encouraging...

Batman Should Have Completed Scripts For Two Films By The End Of The Year Says DC Studios Co-Chair James Gunn
Image
James Gunn, co-chair of DC Studios, recently revealed that he expects to read two different Batman scripts before the end of 2025.

One of those is likely The Batman Part II, written by Matt Reeves and Mattson Tomlin, which was just completed. Gunn has said he hasn’t read it yet, but now that it’s finished, it’s safe to assume that’s one of the scripts he’s referring to. But what’s the second project?

Back in January 2023, Gunn announced The Brave and the Bold as part of the first wave of Dcu films under the Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters banner. Andy Muschietti, director of The Flash, was confirmed to direct, but no screenwriter was publicly named.

Gunn has mentioned several times that Batman is his favorite character, and there are growing rumors that the next Dcu film after Superman could be a World’s Finest movie,...

"This Is Go Time": 'Superman's Nicholas Hoult Discusses the Challenges of Playing Lex Luthor at "A High Point"
Image
It's no secret that James Gunn's hotly anticipated Superman won't be an origin story for Clark Kent (David Corenswet). Not only will it be skipping his arrival on Earth and early life in Kansas, but it'll throw audiences right into the middle of an ongoing story, with Clark several months into his relationship with Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan) and already getting established as Superman. The same is true for some of his greatest foes, like Lex Luthor, who has LexCorp up and running and is leading the public opposition to the Man of Steel. That approach to establishing a new cinematic universe of heroes isn't conventional, and for Nicholas Hoult, it proved to be quite a challenge. Collider's Ross Bonaime attended a set visit last year when the star shared his thoughts on embodying a "grounded" Lex at this point in the story and how Gunn helped him navigate the role.

Superman Actor David Corenswet Names Nightwing As The Character He Most Wants The Man Of Steel To Meet
Image
In a recent interview snippet, Superman actor David Corenswet stated that he wants to see his Man of Steel meet up with Nightwing or one of the Robins.

"I think, like a Nightwing character, one of Batman's proteges. I think it would be really cool because Superman has good dad energy. I'd like to see his uncle energy."

In most comic book continuities, Nightwing gets his name from Superman. After parting ways with Batman and leaving his role as Robin behind, Dick Grayson turned to Superman for guidance.

During their conversation, Superman told him a story from Kryptonian folklore about a hero named Nightwing, a symbol of hope, transformation, and protection for the vulnerable. Moved by the legend and determined to become his own kind of hero, Dick embraced the name Nightwing as a way to honor that tale and step out of Batman’s shadow.

‘Superman’ Director James Gunn Created Spotify Playlists for Clark Kent, Lex Luthor and More | Audio
Image
Ahead of the film’s release next week, DC Studios Co-Chief James Gunn reveals what music his “Superman” characters listen to, partnering with Spotify to create personalized playlists for each character in the upcoming movie.

The curated playlists reveal what Clark Kent, Lex Luthor, Eve Teschmacher, Metamorpho, and The Engineer would listen to, with each selection hand-picked by Gunn himself. He also recorded commentary explaining his choices for every track.

“I’m obsessive about music so I am excited to have partnered with Spotify and created a character playlist: What the characters from Superman listen to,” Gunn said. “I probably had more fun doing this than anything else I’ve done in the past couple of years… I had to really think about who they were as people and imagine what kind of music they’d be into.”

.@Spotify asked me to create playlists for many of the characters in #Superman,...

James Gunn reveals why he cast David Corenswet as Superman instead of Nicholas Hoult
Jonathan Bailey, Scarlett Johansson, and Mahershala Ali in Jurassic World: Rebirth (2025)
While this weekend at the box office belongs to Jurassic World Rebirth, the next two-day respite from work (for most) belongs to the Man of Steel in the red trunks, Superman! James Gunn’s highly anticipated superhero film flies into theaters on July 11, giving the Dcu a fresh start after years of Zack Snyder-directed sequels, subpar solo films, and outliers that deserved better – I’m looking at you, Blue Beetle, Birds of Prey, and The Suicide Squad. Leaping tall buildings in a single bound for Superman is David Corenswet. However, there’s an Elseworlds scenario in which Nicholas Hoult (Lex Luthor) suited up as Big Blue, but James Gunn wanted a particular chemistry for his latest DC film.

During an interview on Jake’s Takes, Gunn spoke about choosing the right person to play Superman, saying, “A lot of time casting is finding the right person for the right role,...

James Gunn explains why he chose David Corenswet over Nicholas Hoult for the role of Superman
James Gunn
We’re days away from the big blue boy scout flying back into theaters for a new reimagining, courtesy of James Gunn’s new Dcu. David Corenswet fills the shoes of the most famous superhero this time around, but it’s been public knowledge that Lex Luthor actor Nicholas Hoult originally tried out for the role of Superman. According to Variety, James Gunn recently appeared on Jake’s Takes and explained why he made the choice of Corenswet over Hoult for the last son of Krypton.

Gunn said,

A lot of time casting is finding the right person for the right role. Most people [auditioning for Superman] weren’t doing anything wrong, they just didn’t fit how I envisioned this Superman to be. Nicholas Hoult auditioned. He’s a great actor. Some might say he’s better than David in certain ways, but he just didn’t fit the role. That’s...

Superman: Lex Luthor Actor Nicholas Hoult Wants To Team Up With The Joker
Image
In Batman: The Animated Series and Superman: The Animated Series, Lex Luthor and the Joker first teamed up in the three-part 1997 episode titled "World's Finest."

In the crossover event, the story kicks off in Gotham City, where the Joker pulls off a heist involving a giant statue made of Kryptonite. After securing the radioactive prize, he makes his way to Metropolis with a plan in mind. There, he approaches Lex Luthor and proposes a deal: he’ll take down Superman if Luthor agrees to pay him a huge sum in return.

This leads Superman and Batman to inevitably cross paths and one-up each other by figuring out their respective secret identities. They team up and eventually stop Lex and the Joker, setting the stage for the later arrival of another fantastic animated series, Justice League.

Could something similar happen in the Dcu, where audiences are introduced to a reverse take on the World's Finest?...

James Gunn teases when we’ll see Superman again after the movie
David Corenswet in SUPER/MAN: THE CHRISTOPHER REEVE STORY IS POWERFUL!! MOVIE REVIEW! (2024)
A little over a week from now, the Superman movie will debut in theaters, marking our first real look at the new DC Universe in action. With plenty of other DC projects in the works, the question remains: when will we next see the Man of Steel?

During an interview with Phase Hero, James Gunn was asked that very question. “A couple of years,” Gunn responded, before quickly adding, “Well, no, you might see him… you’ll see him before then.” Gunn asked if the interviewer meant “the character” or David Corenswet, saying, “Yeah, you’ll see the character before then.“

Fans have theorized that this means our next glimpse of Superman could arrive in one of DC’s upcoming animated shows, or perhaps as a faceless Superman cameo in another project. Maybe even just a brief glimpse of Superman flying across the sky. Place your bets!

Superman: Clark, Lois, And Jimmy Discuss The Hammer Of Boravia's Identity In Latest Clip From Dcu Reboot
Image
DC Studios has released another clip from Superman, this time giving us a glimpse into the goings-on in the Daily Planet following the Man of Steel's battle with the Hammer of Boravia.

As Lois Lane wonders if the armored villain really is from Boravia - one of the nations involved in a war Superman intervened in - Jimmy Olsen notes that the super-powered showdown resulted in “22 people in the hospital and over $20 million in property damage," before wondering if "maybe Superman didn’t think through the ramifications.”

Mild spoilers ahead.

Though it hasn't been officially confirmed, unless there are two villains with the same powers as Superman flying around Metropolis, the Hammer of Boravia will almost certainly turn out to be Ultraman - though his exact identity remains a mystery.

Check out the clip at the link below, along with some promo images and video of London's impressive Superman...

Superman: Over 200 Actors Read For Mister Terrific Before Edi Gathegi Was Selected
Image
Out of all the superheroes appearing in Superman, Michael Holt, aka Mister Terrific, might be the most intriguing. That's because he's a legacy character- the second person to take up the Mister Terrific mantle after Terry Sloane debuted as the character in the Golden Age.

Sloane, also known as the Man of 1,000 Talents, was a major figure in the Justice Society of America and the All-Star Squadron. That raises an interesting question: do these classic superhero teams already exist in James Gunn’s DC Universe?

So far, none of the promotional interviews for Superman have addressed whether Mister Terrific is a legacy character who follows in Sloane’s footsteps. That could be because it’s a plot point the film and these pre-release interviews want to avoid spoilers.

Another question that comes to mind about Mister Terrific is why would someone that's a genius inventor and billionaire and owner of Holt Industries,...

The fact that the Hall of Justice is featured in Superman has been something of an open secret for quite some time.

Back when filming moved from Cleveland and Cincinnati in February 2024, speculation had already begun about the possible inclusion of the Justice League's headquarters.

Fast forward to today, and we now have our first look at how the Hall of Justice will appear in Superman, courtesy of a tie-in Toyota promo/commercial.

"You see the Hall of Justice, and you see that it’s not even finished yet," James Gunn said in a previous interview. "It’s owned by Maxwell Lord, and he owns the Justice Gang."

James Gunn says Adria Arjona would be a great Wonder Woman
David Thewlis, Saïd Taghmaoui, and Gal Gadot in Wonder Woman (2017)
Now that a Wonder Woman movie is in the early stages of development at DC Studios, it’s only a matter of time before a new actress is cast as the Amazonian warrior. One of the favourite contenders for the role among fans is Adria Arjona (Andor), and DC Studios co-ceo James Gunn recently said she’d make a “great Wonder Woman.“

In an interview with Extra, Gunn was asked whether fans should read into any of his social media follows of popular actresses, and what that might mean for her chances of being the next Wonder Woman. “50%,” Gunn joked, before bringing up Adria Arjona as an example.

“I follow Adria on Instagram but everybody came out [and said], ‘He just followed her, that means she’s Wonder Woman,’” Gunn said. “She’d be a great Wonder Woman, by the way.“

Gunn continued, “She was in a movie that I made seven years ago.

James Gunn On How Smallville Influenced A Key Superman Decision That Leaves The Door Open For Lionel Luthor
Image
If you've been following Superman marketing and promotional materials for a lengthy amount of time, you'll likely be aware that in the upcoming film, Lex Luthor's company is not going by the traditional LexCorp. Instead, it's called LuthorCorp.

Speaking to Comicbook, director James Gunn stated that the decision was intentional and that it partially stems from the fact that he's a big Smallville fan.

Gunn stated, "I was taking lots of different stuff from comic books, TV shows and movies- and I'm a Smallville fan. It was LuthorCorp in Smallville. But it also let the door..first of all, most people don't name their corporations after their first name, so I believe it more, in terms of that. Also, it leaves the door open for, was his father, in any way, ever apart of this, or his mother."

In a previously released interview with Entertainment Weekly, Lex Luthor actor...

Superman: McFarlane Toys Unveils New Images Of Its Battle-Damaged Ultraman Action Figure
Image
McFarlane Toy has shared some new images of its battle-damaged Ultraman action figure, giving us a detailed look at the costume the mysterious villain will don in James Gunn's Superman.

Though Ultraman does look like slightly the worse for wear here, he's not nearly as banged-up as he was in the recent image Gunn shared (see below) of the character.

We still don't know exactly who this powerful bad guy is. He clearly has the same abilities as the Man of Steel, but whether he will turn out to be an evil alternate-universe counterpart of Superman's like the comic book version of Ultraman or a clone created by Lex Luthor remains to be seen.

Spoilers follow.

One thing that has been confirmed is that Ultraman and the armored Hammer of Boravia we've seen in the trailers are one and the same.

David Corenswet talks meeting Christopher Reeve’s son, Will, on the set of Superman
Christopher Reeve
Christopher Reeve was seemingly Superman to a generation, but in reality, Reeve was Superman for all time. The installments in the Superman films and shows following Reeve’s series have paid tribute to the actor in some fashion. His legacy would no doubt go on with the upcoming James Gunn film, Superman. Entertainment Weekly reports that Will Reeve, son of Christopher, had visited the set of the film and the new Man of Steel, David Corenswet, would recall meeting him.

Corenswet recalled,

Will is great. He is the Superman type for obvious reasons. He’s tall, he’s handsome, and he’s got a great smile. Having him show up and give his support in that moment was very heartwarming. He also got to meet my kid when she was only a few months old. She happened to be on set that day, too. I don’t think she’ll remember it,...

Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor Has Important Dcu Role Beyond Superman
Image
As fans prepare to watch Superman in theaters, DC Studios co-chair Peter Safran is sharing some exciting news for the future of the Dcu.

It seems fans should expect bigger things for Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor, beyond Superman. Don't expect him to be a one-and-done villain.

Speaking to Omelete, Safran stated, “Lex Luthor is a very important character for us in the Dcu, not just in the Superman movie."

Safran seemed to realize that perhaps he said too much, as when Omelete pressed him for further details, he clammed up.

However, he did go on to praise Hoult's performance in Superman, stating that he brings a bit more seriousness than Gene Hackman's iconic portrayal of the supervillain.

Said Safran, "Listen, I love Gene Hackman, but that was a very over-the-top performance. Nick Hoult made Lex Luthor his character. It’s an iconic, iconic performance, and it’s great.

Incredibly Intense Superman Clip Debuts As Lex Luthor Kidnaps [Spoiler]

A newly released Superman clip showcases a tense and explosive confrontation between the Man of Steel and Lex Luthor.

Storming into Lex’s office, Superman blasts the double doors off their hinges and hurls the villain’s lavish desk aside with ease, demanding answers, as it's revealed that Spoiler: [Krypto] has been kidnapped. Despite the chaos, Lex stays calm and collected, casually sipping his coffee as if nothing’s amiss.

The scene is arguably the most impactful footage revealed so far and does a great job of selling the tone of the film. For fans still unsure, it’s well worth a look, though with the film’s July 11 release fast approaching, you might want to avoid any further clips to keep the experience fresh.

Superman: The Actors Playing Kal-El's Parents In James Gunn's Debut Dcu Film Have Been Confirmed
Image
We finally have solid confirmation about who's playing Superman's parents in the Dcu's first cinematic outing.

Bradley Cooper has been rumored to be portraying Jor-El in the film, and that's been confirmed via the 30 minute screening released earlier this month.

However, we also have a report on who's portraying Superman's biological mom, Lara Lor-Van.

Westworld alum Angela Sarafyan is portraying Jor-El's wife.

While James Gunn has previously stated that Superman isn't an origin movie, perhaps we will still get an all-too-familiar shot of a baby Kal-El blasting off from Krypton, right before it explodes?

There's also a chance that Superman's parents appear as AI holograms in the Fortress of Solitude, as there's precedent in previously released comics and animated films.

While Superman’s biological parents connect him to the legacy of a lost alien world, it’s his adoptive Earth parents- Ma and Pa Kent, who shape the man he becomes.

DC Studios Shares Horrifying Photo Of Superman’s Villain (Not Lex Luthor)
Image
DC Studios co-ceo and Superman director James Gunn shared a horrifying new image of one of the movie's major villains. Aside from introducing David Corenswet's version of Clark Kent/Superman to the world, Superman will also showcase several villains for the Man of Steel to deal with in the film, namely Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult), The Engineer (María Gabriela de Faría), and the mysterious yet powerful Ultraman. While marketing for the 2025 DC Studios movie has pushed Ultraman to the forefront, not much is known about the character's origins and motivations behind attacking the titular Kryptonian hero.

To generate hype for Superman's release, director and writer James Gunn unveiled a new image of one of its powerful antagonists, not named Lex Luthor, potentially opening the floodgates for more theories online.

In a post from X (formerly Twitter), Gunn shared a horrifying image of the mysterious Ultraman, providing fans with a...

James Gunn shares a new look at Ultraman for DC’s upcoming Superman film
James Gunn
You might want to stay off the internet for the next two weeks to avoid spoilers for James Gunn’s Superman. DC Studios, and by extension, Gunn, are going hard in the paint to promote the upcoming superhero film, and some fans are beginning to get upset. On Tuesday afternoon, James Gunn shared a new look at Ultraman, an evil alternate-universe counterpart of Superman and the leader of the Crime Syndicate, to social media, effectively ruining the character’s reveal for some.

Interestingly, Gunn’s Ultraman looks unlike his comic book counterpart. The character is covered in beige-colored armor and wears goggles over his eyes. Ultraman looks more like a Star Wars villain than an evil version of Superman, but it’s just a singular image. It could be David Corenswet beneath the armor, his identity revealed to the Man of Steel later in the film. We’ll need to wait to find out.
