Adaptation of Horror Comic ‘Dungeon’ in the Works from ‘Late Night with the Devil’ Producers
Image
Idw Entertainment is teaming up with Steven Schneider and Roy Lee’s Spooky Pictures (Late Night with the Devil) to adapt the horror comic Dungeon by Scott Snyder and Hayden Sherman, THR reports today.

The serial killer tale ran as a five-issue comic miniseries in 2023 and 2024.

Dungeon begins “when a family moves from the Big Apple to upstate New York to escape the hustle and bustle. However, their father’s dream of a quiet rural life is shattered when he discovers a dungeon underneath their land, filled with torture devices, weapons, and a threatening message on the wall that reads, ‘Tell No One.’ The discovery sets up a paranoid serial kidnapping mystery where no one, not even the father’s child, is safe, and not even the FBI agent assigned to the case can help.”

Schneider and Lee will produce the adaptation along with Daniel Kendrick of Idw Entertainment, the screen arm of Idw Publishing.

‘Late Night with the Devil’ Producers Tackling Adaptation of Scott Snyder Comic ‘Dungeon’ (Exclusive)
Image
Spooky Pictures, the company run by Steven Schneider and Roy Lee, has teamed up with Idw Entertainment to adapt Dungeon, the horror comic by Scott Snyder and Hayden Sherman.

Schneider and Lee will produce the adaptation along with Daniel Kendrick of Idw Entertainment, the screen arm of Idw Publishing.

The option deal comes as Snyder and Sherman have become among the top commodities in the comics field. Snyder, a longtime comics author, is currently writing Absolute Batman for DC, with that comic’s launch becoming the biggest-selling title of 2024. Sherman is illustrating Absolute Wonder Woman, which was also a massive launch that went to multiple printings.

Published as a five issue miniseries in 2023 and 2024, the story begins when a family moves from the Big Apple to upstate New York to escape the hustle and bustle. However, their father’s dream of a quiet rural life is shattered when he discovers a dungeon underneath their land,...

‘Us and Them’ Review
Stars: Jack Roth, Andrew Tiernan, Tim Bentinck, Sophie Colquhoun, Daniel Kendrick, Carolyn Backhouse, Paul Westwood, Louis Dempsey | Written and Directed by Joe Martin

Us and Them… Sums up the current state of the scocio-political climate perfectly don’t you think? The haves and the have-nots. The rich and the poor. It’s a class war that has been raging for longer than many can remember and one that won’t be ending anytime soon. And that idea of a class war, the struggle between rich and poor, seems to be what writer/director Joe Martin is aiming for with this, his first feature film. Only he does it by way of a home invasion thriller!

The film tells the story of three rough and ready British lads, intent on making a grand and brutish statement on economic inequality in the UK, use one upper crust family as their sacrificial lamb.

Us and Them review – bloody class-war thriller trots toward tedium
A banker’s family home is invaded by thugs in a gritty drama whose message gets swamped by a third-act bloodbath

When posh young woman Phillipa (Sophie Colquhoun) brings her boyfriend back to meet her callous banker dad (Tim Bentinck) and prissy mum (Carolyn Backhouse), lunch is rather spoiled when class warfare breaks out. The boyfriend Danny (Jack Roth), turns out to be not only a rude young chap with a broad Estuary accent, he’s also an armed robber.

Determined to fill in the chip on his shoulder and make daddy pay for all the banking bailout of 2008, he and his mates (Andrew Tiernan and Daniel Kendrick) tie up the family and threaten them with violence unless dad opens his home safe. But first Danny insists on giving them lectures about their moral turpitude while filming himself as jokey intertitles introduce flashbacks. All in all, the effect is like...

Us And Them Review [SXSW 2017]
Joe Martin’s Us And Them is less a dangerous class-warfare battle and more a steamy soapbox rant. It’s positioned as “a deadly game of chance,” but don’t expect some Saw-like torture chamber. Anti-establishment angst fuels a fire that rages in the name of social responsibility, through tirades that attack fat-cat bankers who “don’t understand” a working man’s struggle. You can see where Martin draws influence from Guy Ritchie (narrative choices) and Michael Haneke’s Funny Games, yet Us And Them‘s bark is worse than its bite. This is a human story about people who look for answers in all the wrong places, and the chaos that ensues. Blowhard, ill-conceived chaos that goes up or down in flames, depending on your personal outlook.

Jack Roth stars as an underprivileged youth named Danny. For years he’s squeaked by with minimal compensation, stuck in an economic...

Love Bite Review
We’ve seen the whole losing of virginity narrative before, in fact American Pie was entirely based around that very premise – yet director Andy De Emmony brings us a somewhat unique spin to what has become a conventional cinematic device, embellishing upon a much-told subject matter, as these boys don’t just want to pop their cherry, they absolutely need to.

Set in the uncompromising seaside town of Rainmouth, virgin Jamie (Ed Speleers) and his three best friends Kev (Luke Pasqualino), Bruno (Robin Morrissey) and Spike (Daniel Kendrick) spend the majority of their days hanging around in arcades and chip shops, struggling to find any inspiration in their lives – until American travel writer Juliana (Jessica Szohr) comes to stay, as she catches the eye of romanticist Jamie.

As the pair become more intimate, Jamie is thrown off kilter by the news from eccentric werewolf hunter Sid (Timothy Spall) that Juliana is the said beast,...
