Earlier this fall, HBO and Channel 4 shared their new collaboration Get Millie Black with international audiences. Developed by prolific Jamaican novelist Marlon James, the series was filmed in 2022 and began airing this November.

The series follows Millie-Jean Black (Tamara Lawrence), a Jamaican detective serving the Jamaican Police Force after being controversially ousted by Scotland Yard. Known for her independence and resourcefulness, Black moves at her own pace, disregarding traditional police protocol. When the case of a missing girl arrives at her desk, Millie approaches the dire situation with the utmost urgency. However, the case forces Millie to confront her tumultuous past, treatment of her friends, and her relationship with her work.

While various people are trying to Get Millie Black in a new trailer for HBO’s upcoming drama, the titular detective won’t be deterred from finding a missing girl.

Sophie Turner‘s new series is kicking off the weekend after a last-minute schedule adjustment.

After premiering this Wednesday in the US, The CW has moved the Anna Symon-created true crime drama Joan to Fridays at 9pm Et starting Oct. 11, switching time slots with Inside the NFL.

HBO has released a first look at its five-episode original limited series Get Millie Black, which was created and executive produced by Booker Prize-winning author Marlon James.

Most of those involved with "Andor" have stressed that the series will be light on Easter eggs and references to other "Star Wars" projects. But seeing as "Andor" is still a prequel at the end of the day, it still manages to allude to future events where appropriate. While the references up to this point have been few and far between, it's getting harder to ignore the parallels between "Andor" and "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" — especially where the series' explosive Aldhani arc is concerned.

It's fitting that one of Cassian Andor's first missions for the Rebellion mirrors his very last. Both involve infiltrating Imperial bases, sure, and end with disappointing casualties, but so many of the rebels on the Aldhani mission also share traits with the rebels of "Rogue One." It's been eight years since the very first teaser for "Star Wars" sequel "The Force Awakens" was released, but I still remember it like it was yesterday. That teaser made major waves from its very first scene, which opened with the face of Finn (John Boyega) out among the sand dunes of Jakku. That one image revealed so much about the character: He was clad in Stormtrooper armor, so obviously aligned with the First Order (née Empire), right? Lesley Manville, Oscar and BAFTA nominee for “Phantom Thread,” leads the cast of “I Am Maria,” the next instalment of Dominic Savage’s “I Am” anthology series for U.K. broadcaster Channel 4.

Manville, who will take over from Helena Bonham-Carter in the role of Princess Margaret in the final seasons of Netflix series “The Crown,” was recently honored as a Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (Cbe) for her services to drama and charity.

Production for “I Am Maria” commenced Tuesday in London and will explore issues of identity, doubt and the painful cracks that can slowly form in lifelong relationships. Film at Lincoln Center has set the Steve McQueen-directed Lovers Rock as the opening-night film of the 58th New York Film Festival. The film will be making its world premiere, and the festival is going heavily into the work of McQueen, who became the first Black filmmaker to win the Best Picture Oscar for 12 Years a Slave.

And “Lovers Rock,” which will make its world premiere, is one of five films as part of an anthology from McQueen called “Small Axe.” All five movies, including “Mangrove,” “Lovers Rock,” “Alex Wheatle,” “Education” and “Red, White and Blue,” are set to premiere on BBC One later this year and on Amazon Prime Video in the U.S.

Two other films as part of McQueen’s anthology, “Mangrove” and “Red, White and Blue,” will also have their world premieres as part of the festival. The full main slate for the New York Film Festival will be announced in the coming weeks.
