‘Wednesday’ Season 2: Everything We Know About The Cast, Premiere Date & More
Image
Updated with the latest: Wednesday’s sophomore season has become the latest to get the two-part release treatment from Netflix.

After the runaway success of Netflix and Tim Burton’s Addams Family stand-alone series Wednesday starring Jenna Ortega, the streamer renewed it for a second season in January 2023. That decision came less than three months after the eight-episode Season 1 premiered. Season 1 received 12 Emmy nominations, including for Ortega in Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. She became just the third Latina ever to be nominated in a leading actress category. The series won four Emmys, though Ortega lost out to Abbott Elementary‘s Quinta Brunson on Emmy night.

‘Wednesday’ Season 2 Trailer: Jenna Ortega’s Heroine Struggles With Her Spiking Popularity
Image
The first season of “Wednesday” remains Netflix’s second most-watched season of television to date, ranking only behind the first season of “Squid Game.” In the new trailer for “Wednesday” Season 2, Jenna Ortega’s titular Addams Family downer is dealing with a similar kind of popularity.

Suffice it to say, she’s not the biggest fan.

Netflix released the official trailer for “Wednesday” Season 2 Part 1 on Wednesday morning (ha) in anticipation of the show’s two-part release. The trailer shows the young Addams heroine returning to Nevermore Academy as a new mystery threatens the life of someone she loves — at least, as much as Wednesday loves anyone.

You can watch the trailer above.

After saving Nevermore Academy, Wednesday is hailed as a local hero, with students — and Steve Buscemi — lining up to greet her as fans. Wednesday reunites with her bubbly roommate, Enid (Emma Myers) before receiving a tragic vision:...

‘Wednesday’ Season 2 Trailer: Enid’s Demise Teased As Death Lingers Over Nevermore Academy
Image
Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) returns to Nevermore Academy in the trailer for Season 2 of Netflix’s Wednesday, revealing some “mysterious and kooky” plot details.

“How does it feel?” Morticia Addams (Catherine Zeta-Jones) asks her titular daughter in the trailer, as the family arrives with her at Nevermore to drop her off.

She responds dryly, “Like returning to the scene of the crime. I already know where the bodies are buried.”

Watch the trailer above.

Wednesday is focused on getting where she needs to be when she is approached by a bubbly man dressed in head-to-toe purple. This is her new principal, Barry Dort (Steve Buscemi), who refers to Wednesday as the savior of Nevermore, a comment connected to her heroic deeds in Season 1. Much to the famous pupil’s chagrin, she also has a bevy of fangirls hoping to get their queen’s autograph.

Once the fandom dies down, Wednesday...

Netflix has unveiled a first glimpse at Pugsley Addams' mysterious abilities in the upcoming second season of Wednesday. The fan-favorite Addams sibling, previously portrayed as more of a victim to his sister's antics, appears to be stepping into the supernatural spotlight. Season 2 is in post-production, with Jenna Ortega returning as the sharp-witted Wednesday, coming to Netflix later this year.

Pugsley Addams, played by Isaac Ordonez, is stepping into the spotlight in Wednesday Season 2 with the reveal of his new electricity-based powers. Long known as the more passive and often tormented sibling, Pugsley now appears to be developing abilities that may bring him closer to the family's supernatural legacy. Recent promotional materials, including a June 18 video titled "Attend Nevermore Academy with Wednesday Addams," showcase Pugsley generating electricity from his fingers, strongly hinting that he's inherited powers similar to those of Uncle Fester.

Who is the Mystery Addams Family Member in ‘Wednesday’ Season Two?
Image
They’re creepy and they’re kooky, mysterious and spooky. They’re altogether ooky, the Addams Family. Netflix’s “Wednesday“ definitely emphasizes the macabre family’s mysteriousness as it expands for Season 2.

The series is returning for Part 1 on August 6, followed by Part 2 on September 3.

Ahead of the new season, “Wednesday“ recently revealed the extended family members appearing in the second season, including Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams, Victor Dorobantu as Thing, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Joanna Lumley as Grandmama Hester Frump, Joonas Suotamo as Lurch, and Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester.

Outside of titular character Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega), that leaves one extended family noticeably unmentioned among the lineup. The unnamed character is seen in the above family portrait, between Lurch and Fester, but we have no information about who this character is or who the mysterious character is played by.

‘Resurrection’ Review: Is This an Endurance Test or Imaginative, Boundary-Defying Cinema? You Decide!
Image
It is brutally unfair that Thierry Frémaux programmed “Resurrection” on day ten of the Cannes Film Festival when we, the remaining press foot soldiers on the ground, are holding onto our critical faculties by a hair. To say that this film is impenetrable is an understatement. It feels for long stretches like the fourth film by Chinese experimentalist Bi Gan has been designed to lock us out of our own brains, forcing us to wade through the treacly sludge of bored incomprehension amidst the nagging suspicion that we are not so cineliterate after all.

The film opens in a playful and straightforward manner, before launching into a digressive metatextual sprawl that I cannot in good faith claim to have grasped. In the absence of being able to confidently frame this film, all I can do is describe it and hope for the best.

Gan lulls us into a false sense...

Goth lovers are in for a double treat from Netflix. The streamer is set to drop Wednesday Season 2 in two juicy parts—Part 1 will be released on August 6, whereas Part 2 will be dropped on September 3. Only a few months have passed in-show, unlike the three-year gap in real life! So, unless the Addams family is feeding him protein shakes, the show’s gotta explain this height jump. Time to borrow a trick from the Cobra Kai playbook.

Wednesday Season 2 Trailer Reveals Jenna Ortega's Netflix Show Is Being Split In Half
Image
Hump day is looking pretty horrifying (but in a good way) thanks to the arrival of the brand new trailer for "Wednesday" season 2, which sees Jenna Ortega return as the dark-minded daughter of the Addams Family. Following the surprise and absolutely massive success of the first season on Netflix, it came as no surprise when "Wednesday" season 2 was ordered by the streaming service. Fans of the first season should be happy to see the creepy, kooky, mysterious, and spooky elements that we got so much of in season 1 are back for this new installment, all wrapped up in an all-new mystery with Ortega's dead-eyed alter-ego at the center (where she's joined by an impressive supporting ensemble). The thing that should have people most excited, however, is that season 2 looks to focus a little more on the Addams Family itself and not just its teen daughter.

Season 1 saw Wednesday spending...

Image
“Wednesday” Season 2 has set a two-part premiere date for this fall.

“Wednesday” Season 2, Part 1 will premiere Aug. 6 on Netflix while Part 2 debuts less than a month later on Sept. 3, the streamer announced Wednesday. The two-part strategy marks a switch-up from last season, when “Wednesday” dropped all eight episodes of its first season on Nov. 23, 2022.

Netflix also unveiled the teaser for Season 2, which sees Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday Addams returning to Nevermore, beginning with a particularly painful Tsa screening, which sees Wednesday unloading a handful of weapons on her person into a bin. The weapons are not what creates a problem for the Tsa agents, however, as Thing slid in some sunscreen that poses an obstacle for the airline.

“Suncream, seriously?” Wednesday scolds Hand in the teaser.
