Project Runway Is Officially Coming Back, But Not To Bravo
Image
Project Runway fans are rejoicing, as Bravo's reality TV competition show is coming back ... albeit not to Bravo.

In reality television terms, Project Runway is a true Og it premiered almost 20 years ago, at the dawn of the reality television era, in December 2004.

It debuted with a notable roster of judges, including supermodel Heidi Klum, fashion design legend Tim Gunn, and designer Michael Kors.

Project Runway deviated from many reality shows of its day by focusing on a fascinating niche fashion design.

The premise of Project Runway was not entirely dissimilar to run of the mill competition shows, as each season featured 12 aspiring fashion designers as contestants, slowly whittled down to a small handful for a final competition.

Each week, Project Runway's aspiring designers would participate in challenges and display their pieces on the show's titular runway.

Finalists for each season went on to design an entire collection...

‘Project Runway’ Jumps From Bravo to Disney With New Hosts, Judges
Image
“Project Runway” is headed from Bravo to Freeform with a brand-new season in 2025 with new hosts and judges.

The fashion competition show, which was helmed by Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn for its first 16 seasons, will return next year with a 10-episode season after a creative overhaul. The hosts, judges and premiere date will be announced at a later time.

After launching on Bravo — and then moving to Lifetime before eventually returning to Bravo — “Project Runway” will now be a Freeform original series, after the Disney-owned network closed a deal with “Project Runway” producer Spyglass Media Group. The new season of “Project Runway” will air weekly on Freeform, with new episodes streaming shortly after on Disney+ and Hulu.

This isn’t the first time “Project Runway” has overhauled its hosting team, with model Karlie Kloss and Season 4 winner Christian Siriano taking the reins from Klum and Gunn after they exited...

Project Runway Season 21: News, Potential Release Window, Potential Cast & Everything We Know
Image
Project Runway's future was uncertain after season 20, but it was later confirmed as renewed for season 21. Season 21 may premiere later in 2024 or extend into 2025, following the large gap between seasons 19 and 20. Season 20's cast, including judges Nina Garcia, Brandon Maxwell, and Elaine Welteroth, could return for season 21 with new contestants.

Project Runway, which first premiered in 2004, has fans wondering if Bravo has pulled the plug on the popular reality TV competition after 20 years. The Emmy Award-winning show is the one that inspired countless others that came after it. The format was simple fashion designers competing against each other. Created by Eli Holzman, the show has launched some of the biggest names in the industry, such as Christian Siriano (he was the shows youngest winner), Chloe Dao, Leanne Marshall, and Irina Shabayeva. The latest winner in Project Runway season 20 was Bishme Cromartie, whod returned after installment 17.

Prajje Oscar Jean Baptiste was eliminated from “Project Runway” last week in the flamboyant menswear challenge “Let Me See Your Peacock!” Were the judges right to send him home? About two-thirds of the “Runway” fans we polled after the episode (66.81%) agreed that it was his time to go. Scroll down to see our complete poll results at the bottom of this post.

The challenge in “Let Me See Your Peacock!” was to create men’s red carpet looks that made extravagant fashion statements. Jean Baptiste was eliminated for a look that judge Brandon Maxwell compared to a nutcracker going to a gay club, while Nina Garcia positively hated the copper-colored sheer turtleneck underneath.

But this wasn’t Jean Baptiste’s first struggle this season. On the contrary, this was the fifth week in a row that he got a low score from the judges.

Prajje on the ‘Project Runway’ designs that got him in trouble: ‘Some of my favorite looks were in the bottom’ [Watch]

“I was honored to be asked back. Watch his interview with Christian Siriano above.

It was an up-and-down season for Jean-Baptiste during season 20. More specifically, it was a lot of ups (four high scores over the course of the first six challenges) followed by a lot of downs (five low scores in a row leading to his ouster from the competition). But he “definitely disagreed” with the judges when they criticized his last look, which Brandon Maxwell described as a nutcracker going to a gay club. “Actually some of my favorite looks were the ones in the bottom,” he explained. ‘Project Runway’ season 20: Best looks
Image
What does it take to win a design challenge on “Project Runway”? That’s the question the designers face every week on the fashion competition series where one day you’re in and the next day you’re out. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so the judges’ tastes and expectations can be a moving target. But there are a few generally consistent ways you can impress the panel: be original and forward-thinking, be modern, demonstrate a clear and consistent artistic vision, and for the love of God don’t be boring. All things being equal, it’s better to be ambitious than to play it safe. Scroll down to see who met those high standards and won their challenges every week in season 20, which was a special “All-Stars” edition of the series.

‘Project Runway’ season 20: Worst looks
Image
In fashion, one day you’re in and the next you’re out. That’s the guiding principle of “Project Runway,” now in its 20th season. Even in a year like this, which brings together experienced All-Star contestants from the show’s history, some outfits are bound to fail. The fashion design competition has strict time limits and no seamstresses around to help you sew, which can trip up even the most gifted artists. So who had the worst looks of the season according to judges Nina Garcia, Elaine Welteroth, and Brandon Maxwell? And did you agree with their withering criticisms? Scroll down to see each unfortunate look.

This year 14 designers went in to compete for the grand prize of $250,000, a career-changing mentorship with the Cfda (Council of Fashion Designers of America), and a feature in Elle magazine: Brittany Allen (Season 18), Prajje Oscar Jean Baptiste (Season 19), Laurence Basse (Season 15), Fabio Costa...

“Project Runway” season 20 went straight from the season premiere into the unconventional materials challenge, which always pushes the creativity of the designers to the limit. ‘Till’ Director Chinonye Chukwu Is the Red Carpet’s Newest Style Star
Image
Click here to read the full article.

Chinonye Chukwu is quickly making a name for her mastery of emotional, character-driven narratives. The Clemency director’s latest project is the heart-wrenching biopic Till, an account of the 1955 lynching of 14-year-old Emmett Till. Told from the perspective of his mother, Mamie Till-Mobley (played by Danielle Deadwyler), the film opened Oct. 14.

In appearances for the movie, Chukwu has been a standout for her bold and assured red carpet style, one of many directors this year who are making marks with their fashion choices.

Chukwu tells THR that she has given herself “permission to play” in the style spotlight, even with the gravity of the Till subject matter. “We need some levity in our lives,” she says, matter-of-factly, also noting the relationship of the characters in her film to matters of clothes and identity. “I really wanted a vibrant, bold color palette. In Black 1950s Chicago,...

If there’s one thing Julianne Hough has been doing lately, it’s stopping traffic with her latest high-fashion fits on the NYC streets.

The former Dancing With the Stars dancer, 34, has no intention of slowing down her style game anytime soon — especially after showing off her recent looks during New York Fashion Week.

On Thursday, the triple threat shared her latest outfit with her 5.1 million Instagram followers in the form of a video made up of four street-walking photos.

In the action shots, Hough took to the middle of Manhattan in a black minidress that featured cutouts on her right arm and left hip. The intricately designed dress only had one sleeve, along with a collared feature to take her classic “little black dress” to the next level.

Julianne Hough is reliving her behind-the-scenes moments from her time at New York Fashion Week.

The former Dancing With The Stars dancer has been sharing her all-beige look from a fashion show she attended last week in Manhattan.

At the base of her outfit, Julianne was rocking a tiny, white knit bra top and a pair of high-waisted tan trousers.

Overtop, the triple threat wore an oversized blazer in the same shade of tan as her baggy pants — which were pulled tight by a large matching belt.

Julianne added a pair of closed-toe heels and a handbag of the same beige shade to pull her look together. For accessories, the Safe Haven star wore a few gold necklaces and oversized sunglasses lined on top with the same color as her outfit.

Nyfw: Brandon Maxwell and Carolina Herrera’s Wes Gordon Explore Flower Power
Image
Click here to read the full article.

New York designers learned several lessons from the Covid-19 pandemic, not only in how to sustain a luxury-focused fashion business amid a global lockdown, but also the importance of making choices wholly rooted in personal fulfillment versus a paramount concern about the bottom line. And if a contented designer equals a commercially successful collection, perhaps that’s no accident.

That’s how both Brandon Maxwell and Carolina Herrera creative director Wes Gordon approached the Spring/Summer 2023 collections they debuted this week. Gordon’s presentation at The Plaza exuded an unabashed joy in each of its elements, from its iconic New York location to its spotlight on bright floral prints — a theme inspired by the 1911 Frances Hodgson Burnett novel The Secret Garden — and especially the show’s soundtrack, a mix of Barbra Streisand’s most exuberant Broadway and cinema hits.

“I didn’t want hipster Edm music,...

Actress and dancer Julianne Hough looks like she’s getting ready to step into the fashion world with some of her latest posts.

The Dancing with the Stars alum shared a quick clip to her Instagram Stories on Wednesday morning, whispering, “Brandon Maxwell, here I come.”

The video is taken from inside of a vehicle as she preps, adjusting her necklace and hair before putting on her sunglasses.

Her outfit consists of a very light beige suit jacket and matching pants. She opted to leave the jacket open, showing that she was only wearing a white bra beneath it.

Neutral face makeup and bright red lipstick add the finishing touches to the look, the red lipstick complementing the neutral outfit.

Although she hasn’t revealed what exactly the plan is right now,...

"...the thing that came with 'Hunger Games' is I still felt entitled to a certain life that I just wasn’t allowed to have," said Lawrence.

"I felt so much anger of 'Why can't I just do my job?' And then you just get used to it—and it just is. I think that we should be allowed time off.... I would love to be able to control being photographed.

"Then I wouldn't have a new headline out today that I wore the same jeans three days in a row. I was like, 'First of all, yes, I did. Second of all, fuck you, yes, I did.

"But I hate the 'movie star blues'. We are so lucky, and I love my life.
