Mumbai, Feb 9 (Ians) Filmmaker Anushree Mehta, who made her directorial debut with the Radhika Apte-starrer ‘Mrs Undercover’ last year, has now come on board to direct the Hindi remake of the much loved 1972 classic ‘Bawarchi’, originally helmed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee.

The adaptation of the Hrishikesh Mukherjee feature will be the first movie out of the three-film collaboration between Jaadugar Films and Sameer Raj Sippy Productions. They will also remake timeless classics like Amitabh Bachchan-Jaya Bachchan starrer Mili (1975) and Gulzar’s iconic 1972 drama ‘Koshish;.

Mehta described directing the Bawarchi adaptation as a “kaleidoscopic combination” of being excited, honoured, humbled coupled with the awareness of shouldering a “massive responsibility.”

Actor Sunny Singh, who has wrapped up shooting for ‘Risky Romeo’ after a one and a half months in Kolkata, feels the genre of the upcoming film is completely unexplored and said it was a bold step to showcase emotions in a different way through it.

The film is written and directed by Abir Sengupta, who had previously directed ‘Kiara Advani’ starrer ‘Indoo Ki Jawani’. ‘Risky Romeo’ also stars Kriti Kharbanda.

Mumbai, July 12 (Ians) Hindi-language Indian classics ‘Mili’, ‘Koshish’ and ‘Bawarchi’ are all set to get remade as Jaadugar Films and Sameer Raj Sippy Productions have teamed up for it.

The abovementioned 1970’s films were produced under N.C. Sippy’s banner.

Directed by Gulzar, ‘Koshish’, an homage to 1961 Japanese film ‘Happiness of Us Alone’, starred Sanjeev Kumar and Jaya Bachchan. It followed a deaf-mute couple who fight against the odds to live a life of dignity.

Kumar won best actor and Gulzar best screenplay at India’s National Film Awards, reports ‘Variety’.

‘Bawarchi’, directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, was a remake of Tapan Sinha’s 1966 Bengali-language film ‘Galpo Holeo Satti’ and starred Rajesh Khanna and Jaya Bachchan.

In the film, Khanna plays a talented domestic helper who transforms a dysfunctional middle-class family.

‘Mrs. Undercover’ director Anushree Mehta talked about her upcoming spy comedy film starring Radhika Apte in the lead role of an undercover agent and shared how the idea was conceived and why she found Radhika to be perfect for the role.

"'Indoo Ki Jawaani' is the story of a judgemental girl who judges the book by its cover and eventually discover something totally different. I am a filmmaker who does not calculate and strategise to convey message through my film. Being a storyteller I am a thinking individual and in every story I somewhere reflect my thoughts. So when I wrote the character of Indoo from Ghaziabad, she represents all those people who are judgmental that we have come across in reality. Then again, I am not trying to be serious about it, but want to be telling an important story in a lighthearted manner. The dating app is a cool thing that has happened to the new generation.

In the trailer, Kiara plays the role of a girl-next-door named Indira Gupta aka Indoo, who is trying to find her true love. On her friend's suggestion, she tries her luck on Tinder, a dating app. However, her life takes a new turn after she meets a man from Pakistan (played by Aditya Seal), who disguised himself as a Hyderabad native.

After she gets to know about his real identity, she sees news about terrorists from Pakistan infiltrating the city. She starts suspecting him. The second half of the trailer shows how Indoo's love story takes a new twist.

Mumbai, Nov 21 (Ians) The Kiara Advani-starrer Indoo Ki Jawani will release in theatres on December 11, the actress confirmed on Saturday.

Kiara on Thursday took to Instagram Stories and shared a couple of videos and pictures from the movie's wrap up party.

Kiara Advani, who has been eagerly awaiting the release of her highly-anticipated film, Kabir Singh, has been recently roped in for Emmay Entertainment’s next, Indoo Ki Jawani, co-produced by Niranjan Iyengar and Ryan Stephen.
