The high-altitude drama of Top Gun 3 may not find familiar faces returning after the adventure of Top Gun: Maverick, due to Tom Cruise‘s strict culling process ahead of filming. The 63-year-old veteran is all set to reunite with Joseph Kosinski for the third installment of this legacy IP, but (reportedly) only with stars who share an equal passion and energy for the film as him.
As revealed by an insider to Radar Online, those who failed to commit totally to the 2022 sequel have been sidelined ahead of Top Gun 3, with Cruise only preferring to work with actors who have shown exemplary passion and loyalty toward the project.
Only about half of the main supporting cast from Maverick will be back for Top Gun 3, which is exactly how Tom prefers it… With Tom, there’s no tolerance for egos or pushback. If you didn’t fully buy into the Maverick mindset,...

Netflix has canceled Fubar after Season 2's lackluster performance, despite positive reception from audiences. It's bittersweet news for fans, because the series finale is now a cliffhanger that will never be resolved.
Fubar has been canceled following Season 2's disappointing launch. Per Deadline, Season 2's June premiere barely made the Netflix weekly top ten, garnering 2.2 million views over a four-day weekend; Season 1 raked in 11 million views in the same run. Season 2 performed better on its first full week, peaking at 3.3 million views. It re-entered the rankings in its third week, grabbing tenth place with 1.8 million views.
The show has since dropped out of the streamer's most-watched list. Fubar Season 1 featured a powerhouse ensemble led by Arnold Schwarzenegger, Gabriel Luna, and Monica Barbaro, who recently received an Oscar nomination for A Complete Unknown. The show's premise had potential: Luke Brunner (Schwarzenegger) and his daughter Emma (Barbaro) are both CIA operatives, neither...

Arnold Schwarzenegger will not be back on Netflix after his action series Fubar finally lived up to its name after two seasons. Season 2 of the Terminator star’s first leading-role TV appearance aired back in June to very mixed reviews and a lackluster viewership, so perhaps its fate is not the most surprising outcome for the series.
The cancellation means that the insane adventures of Luke Brunner (Schwarzenegger) and his CIA-agent daughter Emma (Monica Barbaro) have now come to a close, and we will not see how their father/daughter bickering could have continued to play out in another series. This will be a disappointment to fans who embraced the show’s blatant tongue-in-cheek approach to the action genre, which played tropes from every Schwarzenegger movie of the last four decades.

Netflix has officially canceled Fubar after 2 seasons — and fans of the series starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Monica Barbaro are saying the same thing about the news. On August 1, Deadline reported that Fubar would not return for Season 3. The decision came after its Season 2 premiere on July 12 yielded lackluster viewership on the streaming platform. Only 2.2 million views came in from Thursday to Sunday, down from 11 million views for the Season 1 premiere weekend. Fubar peaked at #7 on Netflix with 3.3 million views during its first full week. For its third week, the show dropped to #10 with 1.8 million views before it exited the Top 10 altogether. For the action-comedy series, CIA agent Luke Brunner (Schwarzenegger) discovered his daughter, Emma (Barbaro), was also part of the CIA. The father-daughter duo was forced to work together to stop an arms dealer, blurring the lines between their professional and personal lives. Additionally, Fubar starred Carrie-Anne Moss, Fortune Feimster,...

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s stint as a secret agent with family troubles comes to an abrupt end, as Netflix cancels Fubarafter 2 seasons.
It was big news when, back in 2023, legendary film star Schwarzenegger signed on to star in a series for the world’s biggest streamer. Fubar season 1 launched on the strength of Schwarzenegger’s name, and was an immediate hit, garnering 11 million views in its premiere weekend.
It took two years for Fubar season 2 to make its way to Netflix, and perhaps that was too long a gap, as the show premiered to just 2.2 million views, barely cracking the streamer’s top 10.
The show’s disappointing season 2 numbers convinced Netflix that Fubar is indeed Fubar, leading to the show being canceled (via Deadline). The numbers don’t lie: Fubar only made it to #7 on the Netflix top 10 English-language series chart its first full week, and made only one more appearance...

Netflix has pulled the plug on Arnold Schwarzenegger’s spy action show Fubar after just two seasons. The decision came on August 1, 2025, roughly six weeks after Season 2 hit the platform on June 12, according to reports from Netflix’s announcements. The show, which leaned heavily on Schwarzenegger’s massive fame, had a big debut back in May 2023 but struggled to keep viewers hooked for its second run.
Fubar follows Luke Brunner, played by Schwarzenegger, and his daughter Emma, played by Monica Barbaro, who both discover they’re secretly CIA operatives. They’ve been lying to each other for years, clueless about each other’s real jobs. Forced to team up on dangerous missions, they clash when Luke treats Emma like a kid or freaks out about her safety and love life.

Netflix has decided not to continue with a third season of Fubar, the spy action series starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. This announcement came about a month and a half after Season 2 was released on June 12, 2025. Despite Schwarzenegger’s huge star power, the show struggled to keep its audience, leading to the cancellation after just two seasons.
Fubar first premiered in May 2023 and had a strong start, helped in part by Schwarzenegger’s worldwide fame. Monica Barbaro, who stars alongside him, had also gained attention by becoming an Oscar nominee between the first and second seasons for her work in A Complete Unknown. However, when Season 2 finally arrived more than two years later, the show’s viewership dropped sharply.
According to Netflix viewing data, Season 2 barely made it into the Top 10 English-language shows during its first week, landing at the very bottom with 2.2 million views from Thursday to Sunday. This was a...

Netflix has officially canceled Fubar after two seasons, marking an abrupt end to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s first leading role in a scripted streaming series. The announcement came just hours ago, with its streaming ratings being cited as the reason for its cancellation, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
An action-comedy, the series starred former Mr. Olympia and Oscar nominee Monica Barbaro as a father-daughter spy duo, working for the CIA. Though the first season debuted with strong viewing numbers, the sophomore installment failed to maintain momentum.
The second season featured him taking on an old flame, portrayed by Carrie-Anne Moss, who threatens to destroy his life and the world, face-to-face. Unfortunately, it delivered a performance so underwhelming that even enthusiastic fans weren’t enough to save it.

Fubar has been canceled after two seasons, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
News of the show’s cancellation arrived Friday night after its streaming ratings notably declined between season premieres. In total, Fubar’s minutes of viewing declined by 73 percent from season one to two. During its premiere week, the series landed at No. 8 among Netflix’s original shows for its second season.

Netflix has canceled the Arnold Schwarzenegger series “Fubar” after two seasons, Variety has confirmed. The series was a hit for the streamer in Season 1, back in 2023, but failed to perform as well during its second season, which premiered on June 12 — more than two years after its initial run. The show managed to make Nielsen’s streaming originals top 10 for the week of June 16, after its premiere, but then fell off the chart the following week.
Here was the logline to the series: “Luke Brunner is a veteran CIA operative who, up until recently, was on the verge of retirement. After his last mission in saving another operative – who just so happened to be his daughter – he’s back and face to face with new villains. This one is an old flame from Luke’s past who threatens to destroy the world…if she doesn’t destroy his life first.”

Deadline reports that Netflix has cancelled Fubar after just two seasons. The action/comedy series starred Arnold Schwarzenegger as Luke Bremmer, a CIA operative on the verge of retirement who discovers a family secret and is forced to go back into the field for one last job. Unfortunately, the cancellation isn’t a big surprise, as the second season came and went with minimal impact, with the show barely occupying the last spot in Netflix’s Top 10 in its first week.
The second season saw Carrie-Anne Moss join the cast as Greta Nelso, a former East German spy who has a passionate history with Schwarzenegger’s character. Netflix has officially pulled the plug onFUBAR, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s spy-action comedy, after two seasons, per Deadline. The cancellation comes just over six weeks after Season 2 launched on June 12 — and despite the show's attempts to go bigger and bolder, the numbers didn’t back it up. He said he’d be back. Exclusive: Netflix is not proceeding with a third season of Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s spy action series Fubar. The decision comes about a month and a half after Season 2 launched on the platform on June 12.
It follows a surprisingly soft return for the series, which, likely fueled by Schwarzenegger’s global star power, had a strong debut in May 2023 and also stars Monica Barbaro who became an Oscar nominee between Seasons 1 and 2 for A Complete Unknown.
With Season 2 released more than two years after Season 1 dropped, Fubar barely made Netflix’s Top 10 for English-language series in its first week, landing in the last spot with 2.2M views from Thursday through Sunday, down from about 11M views for the show’s Season 1 premiere weekend. Season 2 peaked at #7 in its first full week with 3.3M views and logged one more #10 finish in Week 3 with 1.8M views before dropping out of the Top 10.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Lily James has joined the cast of Subversion. She will play a Coast Guard officer in hot pursuit of Hemsworth's blackmailed naval commander. She followed Cinderella with supporting roles, often as the love interest, in Baby Driver, Yesterday, and The Iron Claw. She also returned to television for the miniseries War & Peace, The Pursuit of Love, and Pam & Tommy, the latter of which she starred as Pamela Anderson, a role that earned her an Emmy nomination.

Ike Barinholtz has been cast as Elon Musk in Luca Guadagnino’s upcoming OpenAI movie, Artificial, reports Matthew Belloni of Puck News.
Barinholtz, mostly recently known for his role as Sal Saperstein in The Studio, joins Anora breakout Yura Borisov, Andrew Garfield, and Monica Barbaro in the Amazon MGM Studios film, which was penned by Simon Rich.
Musk was an early investor in OpenAI before launching his rival company, xAI. As Belloni previously reported, he is a minor character in the movie, who mostly serves as “comic relief” in a few scenes where he is “more concerned with his (malfunctioning) driverless Tesla than the prospect of uncontrolled AI destroying the world.”
Drawing comparisons to The Social Network, Artificial is set in the tumultuous five-day period in 2023 when Sam Altman was fired, then rehired as the CEO of the company behind ChatGPT. According to Belloni, the film’s story revolves around...

Luca Guadagnino's upcoming feature about the whirlwind rise of artificial intelligence just made an exciting addition. The film follows the real-life drama behind the firing of Sam Altman at OpenAI, as well as the tumultuous and dangerous state of the AI industry. Wonder Woman's DC Universe debut may happen sooner than expected. The screenwriter for DC Studios' Wonder Woman reboot has just been revealed, and it's good news for the fandom.
Per Variety, Ana Nogueira has been tapped to script the Wonder Woman reboot, marking her third screenwriting project for the Dcu. Nogueira was first hired by DC to adapt Tom King and Bilquis Evely's acclaimed comic Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow into a feature-length film, which is now in post-production under the title Supergirl. DC Studios then tapped her to script an untitled Teen Titans movie, which remains in development, although a draft has been turned in. Nogueira's continued involvement in the Dcu can only be taken as a sign that the studio is happy with her work, meaning that Wonder Woman is in good hands.

Perhaps no one else in pop culture has better embodied the American Dream than Arnold Schwarzenegger. Coming from a small town in Austria and growing up under the rule of a volatile father, Arnold Schwarzenegger knew he had to leave and become something better – and we can thank film for bringing him to America.
But it’s not traditional film we’re talking about here (although Arnold Schwarzenegger’s first memories of seeing a movie were of then-quintessential American actor John Wayne), but rather reels of stock footage and the like that he was made to watch while in school. As he recalled in The Wall Street Journal, “At age 10, I fell in love with America. That came from watching film rolls in school. Where do movie ideas come from? For some filmmakers, it's simply a lightning bolt of an idea from nowhere. For others, it's a brand-mandated piece of intellectual property. And for some, all they have to do is take a look - for it is, indeed, in a book.
Some of our greatest and best movies are adaptations of books, from "Gone With the Wind" to "The Godfather" to even "Die Hard." It makes sense from the studio perspective -- there's mitigated risk and a built-in audience -- and it makes sense from a creative perspective, as it's interesting to see an artist find corners of their voice they couldn't on their own (sometimes making something better than the book). And we've got more book-to-movie adaptations coming down the pike to enjoy and analyze.
So, for all future film forecasters, please...
