One of the latest forms of the Transformers franchise is the Transformers Wild King toyline, which unites Optimus Prime and Megatron with several original beast-based characters. The newest wave of the series has now been revealed, and it adds an aerial avian Autobot to the mix.
Wave 4 of Transformers Wild King includes only one new Energy Beast, which is the bird Transformer, Sky Report. Many of the same gimmicks as the earlier figures apply, but the sole new entry suggests that the line is winding down. Whether this is true or not, fans can pre-order Sky Report and look forward to getting a hold of him in a few months.

The Alan Tudyk-starrer Resident Alien has been canceled after four seasons. While the show had good ratings and received good responses from critics and audience alike, the makers announced that the fourth season would be its last. Showrunner Chris Sheridan mentioned that he was glad that they were able to wrap storylines, but still left things open for a potential future (via TV Line).
Resident Alien joins a list of incredible shows that have faced the axe prematurely in recent times. While the sci-fi premise begins off in a typical alien invasion fashion, it becomes a heartwarming take on what it means to be human and shows the growth of Alan Tudyk’s Dr. Harry. The actor has also been praised for his phenomenal performance.
Thankfully, this is not the only good role from Tudyk, nor is it his only endeavor in the sci-fi realm. He has been in several shows,...

Hasbro has revealed several collectibles at San Diego Comic-Con, with some of these set to be exclusive to the convention and to the Hasbro Pulse website. One example is a nostalgic Transformers action figure that recalls an anime from the early 2000s.
The new Voyager Class Transformers Nemesis Prime figure is based on the evil doppelgänger of Optimus Prime from Transformers: Armada. To this end, he comes packaged with a new version of a trio of Mini-Cons that merge to form one of the anime's most powerful weapons. Though the version being shown at Sdcc is only a prototype, new stock images have been revealed that showcase the finished product's dark appearance.
New Nemesis Prime Prototype Rolls Out at Sdcc With an Iconic Transformers Weapon
A recolored version of the Transformers: Legacy Optimus Prime action figure, Nemesis Prime features the cab of said toy, lacking the additional trailer needed to transform into Super Mode.

Based on his appearance in 1986's The Transformers: The Movie, this convention-exclusive toy definitely has the touch and the power. It's Autobot vs. Dinobot in a new look at Cyberworld, the latest permutation of the venerable Transformersfranchise. In the new, Collider-exclusive clip, Autobot leader Optimus Prime faces off against Grimlock, king of the deadly Dinobots! The new series will premiere on Hasbro's official Transformers YouTube channel on July 12, and will be available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, Italian, and Mandarin Chinese.
In the new clip, Prime runs right into Grimlock, who's now sporting the head of his dinosaur mode on his left arm, Beast Wars-style. Prime can barely get a word in before Grimlock's on the attack, bombarding Prime with his flame breath, arm-mounted rotary cannon, and his metal-munching dinosaur jaws. Prime seems rather confused as to why Grimlock's so intent on treating him like Jurassic Park's Donald Gennaro, and so will longtime fans: Prime and Grimock are usually allies, albeit sometimes uneasy ones. Steven Spielberg's filmography as a director is long, but his resume as a producer is gargantuan (and definitely not as quality-consistent as his directing career). Case in point: He has executive produced all of the modern "Transformers" films, and recruited Michael Bay to direct the first one. Those movies are definitely more Bay, less 'Berg, but flashes of Spielberg's influence do show up.
The first "Transformers" film, especially, structures itself like "Jaws" and "Jurassic Park" (i.e. holding off on the spectacle in the first half). The heart of that film pulls from Spielberg's playbook as well, depicting an "E.T."-like friendship between Sam Witwicky (Shia Labeouf) and the Autobot Bumblebee.
"Transformers" wasn't the first time Spielberg was involved with a story all about evil cars. Spielberg's first widely-released feature film, 1971's "Duel," featured a menacing truck,...

From 2007 to 2017, Michael Bay directed five live-action films in the Transformers franchise: Transformers (2007), Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009), Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011), Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014), and Transformers: The Last Knight (2017). After he stepped away, the franchise continued with Bumblebee (directed by Travis Knight) in 2018 and Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (directed by Steven Caple Jr.) in 2023. We’ve heard that the next movie in the series would be a G.I. Joe crossover… but that might not be the case, as Puck reports that Bay has pitched a new Transformers project to Paramount Pictures last year, his intention being to return to the franchise as a hands-on producer and potential director. Bay has reportedly chosen Jordan VanDina, writer of the comedies The Binge and It’s a Wonderful Binge, to write a screenplay based on his pitch. Details on the plot and characters are being kept under wraps.

Transformers fans -- especially those who aren't necessarily looking for straight-out-of-the-box toys -- have a wave of new releases to look forward to. Upcoming garage kits for Optimus Prime, Soundwave and Tarn promise a DIY collector's dream, with raw 3D prints that will require cleaning, sanding and painting before looking "roll out!" ready.
Takara Tomy-affiliated retailer e-hobby lists the DIY Transformers collectibles at 2,980 yen (~US$20) each, with a debut lineup of Autobots and Decepticons that'll appeal to fans of the entirety of the franchise -- comics, cartoons, movies and more. The first release wave is a full Transformers franchise celebration, pulling in both niche and instantly recognizable characters. It's no surprise that Optimus Prime, the iconic Autobot, leads the pack. He's represented in his classic Generation 1 look, waiting for his blue, red, and silver paint job. Soundwave leans into a more cinematic silhouette -- broad, boxy, and reminiscent of the film franchise's aesthetics.

The Transformers One director offers a disappointing update on a potential sequel. The 2024 animated Transformers movie, directed by Josh Cooley, explores Optimus Prime and Megatron's untold origins before their rivalry. The original plan was to kick-start a trilogy, with plans for the sequels already mapped out. However, Transformers One only grossed $129.4 million at the box office, which cast some uncertainty on the sequel's future.
Per Collider, Cooley confirmed that Paramount Animation are not moving forward with the Transformers One sequels during a panel at the Transformers' convention BotCon. The director shared that the studio had already informed him that they are "not interested in making a sequel." However, Cooley doesn't shut down the possibility in the future. Japan's newest Transformers toy line continues to receive new action figures, with another wave of Transformers Wild King toys now being revealed. Featuring new energy beasts and redecos of previous toys, this wave includes a dark incarnation of Optimus Prime.
Transformers Wild King Wave 3 has three new Energy Beast toys, with these being able to combine with Optimus Prime and Megatron. Both of the faction leaders have been given shadowy new color schemes, with Prime's new toy representing the evil Nemesis Prime. Only one of the beasts will be sold individually. However, the other two newcomers are part of 2-pack sets.

When Hasbro first introduced America to Transformers, it felt monumental and completely new. A simultaneous release of cartoons and toyline each featuring robots that changed into vehicles was unprecedented for Western audiences. Yet here it was, intricate lore, immersive world and all. Little did the children consuming Transformers' animated series and play with their toys know they were indulging in well-established concepts.
As early as a decade before Optimus Prime bellowed his "Autobots, roll out!", Japanese animation studios had already had several successful iterations of nearly every concept that made Transformers what it was. From warring factions to intricate robotic engineering, an abundance of anime bore the torch for Transformers. The Hasbro franchise undoubtedly took said torch and ran with it, achieving unparalleled success, but its predecessors, from Voltron to Brave Raideen, are more than deserving of a deep dive.

There's a cruel irony to "Transformers One," 2024's animated prequel film about the robots in disguise. Directed by Josh Cooley, "Transformers One" is the first great "Transformers" movie — yet we may never get a "Transformers Two."
I like the original 1986 "Transformers: The Movie." I understand why its rock-n-rollin soundtrack ("You've got the touch!") and epic moments -- from Optimus Prime's sacrifice to the planet eater Unicron revealing his enormous true form -- will burn into your brain if you see it at the right age. But the script is pretty slapdash, the animation is richer and more detailed than that in the '80s cartoon but still filled with careless errors, and the whole cynical purpose of the film is galling.
Meanwhile, all of the live-action "Transformers" movies directed by Michael Bay lie on a sliding scale of bad. "Bumblebee" is good, if slight, but then "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts" was so boring.

Despite solid storytelling and decent animation effects, Transformers One couldn’t make a significant impact at the box office. With the fall in popularity of Michael Bay’s live-action films and the dull box office of the animated film, Paramount and Hasbro wouldn’t be so sure about their next steps with this franchise. A fan-made video will probably give them the answers they need.

On February 17, a statue of Optimus Prime received ritual veneration from the owner of a nearby bar in Thailand. Traditional dances were also performed in front of the statue, as is tradition when it comes to religious practices in the country. The owner of the bar had allegedly sought blessings from the statue and had then lubricated it with motor oil to venerate the deity further and bring good luck.

Fresh off the success of their Killzone collaboration, Helldivers 2 developers have dropped a tantalizing hint about their next crossover event. While the details remain classified (even Super Earth’s best intelligence agencies are scratching their heads), given some recent developments in the gaming industry, we can’t help but theorize about a particularly exciting possibility.

The timing couldn’t be more perfect. Just as Arrowhead teases they’re “in the very early stages of something new,” Hasbro announces a partnership that has our democracy-spreading senses tingling. And while we’re not saying the stars are aligning, if they were, they’d be forming a very familiar robotic face.
The question isn’t just about what’s next for our beloved bug-squashing simulator—it’s about the potential for something truly transformative. Something that could turn the...

One thing that the Transformersmovies have taught is that the battle for good versus evil is not limited to human civilization. Even alien robots can have a planet-destroying argument that plunges their technologically advanced society into darkness. As Autobots and Decepticons clash, their ideological difference sparks a war that threatens not only to annihilate humans but also the entire universe.
From the Michael Bay movies to the recent reboots, the Transformers movies have a litany of fiery, exploding, and metal-crushing action. Although most fight scenes are closely tied to the story, there are some that rarely make any sense in the context of the plot or character dynamics. It is not astonishing that there are quite a few of them, given the franchise's earlier exploits into style over substance.

For the past few years, the Transformers franchise has utilized a somewhat generalized aesthetic. Now, one artist is releasing images that they worked on to bring this part of the brand's look to life.
Artist Josh McLaughlin has shared a series of evergreen Transformers promotional images that have been used to define the franchise in the past decade. Largely reminiscent of Generation 1, these designs also include two bestial Transformers, while one Autobot in particular represents a developmental move away from his cinematic incarnation.

Some of the coolest Transformers designs were only seen briefly in various timelines and continuites. Such was the case in the Transformers: Hearts of Steel comic book, with the Industrial Age-inspired aesthetic finally seeing official toys.
Released under the Transformers Timelines banner, the new Transformers Generations Comic Edition Hearts Of Steel Optimus Prime and Starscream 2-Pack will certainly get fans steamed. Featuring 19th century versions of Optimus Prime and Starscream, the toys are some of the most unique designs for the characters yet. Coming complete in an archaic box design, this set of toys brings long-forgotten concept art to life.

The "Transformers" movie franchise is unusually dense with lore, characters, plot, and continuity. Unlike most long-running franchises, which tend to reboot their continuity every so often, the "Transformers" films have oddly prided themselves on keeping at least a loose sense of connectivity between each cinematic installment, making sure that no new film expressly treads upon another movie's events or revisits old territory. While this makes being a fan of the series a generally rewarding experience, it has left the films in an odd position as to where they might be going next. 2017's "The Last Knight," the fifth and to date last installment directed by Michael Bay, left events on a cliffhanger that's yet to be addressed or resolved, while 2023's "Rise of the Beasts," set 23 years before "Knight," seemed to promise a crossover adventure with Hasbro and Paramount's "G.I. Joe" franchise. Last year's "Transformers One" seemed to promise...

In the world of the Generation 1 Transformers, there's almost no Autobot who can withstand the might of the powerful Devastator. Now, two upcoming toys will put fans closer to recreating the iconic Combiner with modern action figures.
Transformers Studio Series has a subline based on 1986's The Transformers: The Movie, with this series now set to have its own take on Devastator. To that end, the Constructicons Long Haul & Hook 2-Pack features two of the Decepticons needed to form this mighty monstrosity. Coming out in a few months, the action figure set is easily one of the most anticipated Transformers releases of 2025.
