Mumbai, April 24 (Ians) Pratim D. Gupta, the writer-creator of the streaming series ‘Tooth Pari: When Love Bites’, drew inspiration from his formative years in Kolkata to create an immersive experience for the series which is set against the backdrop of a land divided between ‘Uppar’ (Human world) and ‘Neeche’ (Vampire world) ki duniya, and narrates the love story between a human and a vampire.

One of the things that stands out in the series is the presentation of Kolkata, its architecture, culture and the narrow alleys. Kolkata is more than a location in the series.

Netflix just revealed the entire cast of its upcoming romantic fantasy thriller ‘Tooth Pari: When Love Bites’ in all their glory and we just can’t get enough of them!

While you’ve already started rooting for Shantanu Maheshwari aka Doctor Roy, the cute, boy-next-door, lousy and faint hearted dentist and Tanya Maniktala aka Rumi the rebellious vampire who has lost one of her fangs, here’s the first look of who’s who in the upcoming series! After “Sunrise” in 2014 and a double whammy with “The Wayfarers” and “Nirvana Inn” in 2019, Indian thespian Adil Hussain is back at the Busan International Film Festival this year with two more films – “The Storyteller” in the Jiseok section, and “Max, Min and Meowzaki” in the Open Cinema strand.

Hussain, best known internationally for “Life of Pi” and “Star Trek: Discovery,” also won global plaudits for “What Will People Say” and “Hotel Salvation.”

Both of the actor’s Busan films this year are by festival alumni – “The Storyteller,” is by Ananth Narayan Mahadevan, whose “Bittersweet” was in Busan 2020 and “Max, Min and Meowzaki” is helmed by Padmakumar Narasimhamurthy, who was at Busan in 2016 with “A Billion Colour Story.”

There is a significant amount of films made from the perspective of non-resident Indians and their love for the mother-land. Be it a result of patriotic affiliation or simply a case of treasured memories, similar narratives have been churned out numerous times. As a result, nostalgia has almost become a cliché in itself due to the bourgeois fetishization of memories. “Maacher Jhol” falls in the same vein, yet it is the itched-out performance by Ritwick Chakraborty, which makes one fall for the central character’s plea for sympathy.

Through the film, we get to know about Dev D aka Devdatto (Ritwick Chakraborty) who is a chef in a French restaurant. He comes off as a fairly authoritative figure around the cooks, who seem to have genuine affection towards food than the authority itself. Chennai, May 15: Eleven filmmakers from different parts of the country have come together for a never-seen-before cinematic experience about a filmmaker titled "X".

Filmmakers such as Abhinav Shiv Tiwari, Anu Menon, Hemant Gaba, Pratim D. Gupta, Q, Raja Sen, Rajshree Ojha, Sandeep Mohan, Sudhish Kamath, Suparn Verma and Thiagarajan Kumararaja will direct the film, which will feature actor-director Rajat Kapoor in the lead.

The eleven filmmakers met in Mumbai last weekend to brainstorm and locked their individual segments after an over six-week long discussion.

"What started out as just a random idea has blown into this big and brilliant.

Q (Gandu, Tasher Desh), Thiagarajan Kumararaja (Aaranya Kaandam) are among eleven directors who have joined hands to make a collaborative feature “X” to be executive produced by Shiladitya Bora of PVR Directors’ Rare.

“X” is a filmmaker’s journey through his past encounters with his 10 ex-girlfriends as he spends one surreal unforgettable night at a film festival after he meets a mysterious girl who intriguingly seems to have something to do with every woman in his life.

Abhinav Shiv Tiwari (Oass), Anu Menon (London Paris New York), Hemant Gaba (Shuttlecock Boys), Pratim D.
