Exclusive: Buffalo 8 has acquired worldwide distribution rights to mystery-thriller-dark comedy Atrabilious, directed, written, and produced by William Atticus Parker (Forty Winks).

The neo-noir stars Leon Addison Brown and features Oscar winners and nominees, including Whoopi Goldberg and Alec Baldwin, alongside a critically acclaimed ensemble with Jeffrey Wright, Mark Boone Junior and Evan Jonigkeit.

Set against a vibrant and gritty Brooklyn backdrop, Atrabilious follows Steven Joyner (Brown) as he embarks on a harrowing quest to uncover the truth behind his son’s sudden and suspicious death. His search leads him to the enigmatic bar, Atrabilious, where buried secrets and a dark, tangled past slowly come to light.

Exclusive: Army of the Dead and Cha Cha Real Smooth actor Raúl Castillo has been set as the lead in William Atticus Parker’s third film, The Auction, which we told you about earlier this month.

Today, we can tell you a little more about the suspense science-fiction tale, loosely inspired by Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None. The film is set at the Aztec Corp., a company that auctions off ancient antiquities and semi-distinct wild exotic animals. Castillo will portray the newest sales representative, David Valdez, with Ben Vereen appearing as his father and K. Todd Freeman as the head of the corporation.

The previously announced cast also includes Audra McDonald, Mary-Louise Parker, and Richard Kind. Details about their specific roles are not being released yet.

Parker — son of actors Mary-Louise Parker and Billy Crudup — will make his film acting debut in the pic alongside his mom Parker.

Lightyear Entertainment has acquired U.S. rights to coming-of-age drama “Edge of Everything” from Visit Films. The film stars Sierra McCormick, previously seen in Slamdance award winner “The Vast of Night.”

The film is from writer-director duo Sophia Sabella and Pablo Feldman, who are making their feature-length narrative debut. McCormick plays a teen going through the seemingly unbearable trials and tribulations of growing up.

The drama will have its U.S. premiere on Feb. 8 at the Santa Barbara Film Festival, and a limited theatrical release will follow in the spring, after which the film will be released on digital platforms and in the home entertainment market.

Exclusive: Sierra McCormick (American Horror Stories), Jason Butler Harner (Ozark), Ryan Simpkins (Fear Street trilogy), Dominique Gayle (First Love), Nadezhda Amé (Graceland), Sabina Friedman-Seitz (The Florida Project), Emily Robinson (Eighth Grade), Drew Scheid (Mare of Easttown) and Anthony Del Negro (Lazy Susan) will star in Sour Milk, the first feature from writer-directors Sophia Sabella and Pablo Feldman, which recently wrapped production in the Bay Area.

The film follows Abby (McCormick), who is on the cusp of turning 15, straddling the line between childhood and adulthood when she is forced to move in with her father (Harner) and his younger girlfriend after her mother’s death. The drama is largely inspired by Sabella and Feldman’s experiences coming of age in Mill Valley, CA.

Sabella and Feldman produced with Jolene Mendes and Rabia Sultana, with Todd Traina, Robert Girard and Henry Schwartz exec producing. The production companies involved include Sultana Films in association with Near Future.

Fingers is the second film of Juan Ortiz (Jennifer Help Us) who writes and direct this strange movie about a woman with a phobia of, well… fingers, as well as serious anxiety, who is recommended a self-help book by a psychiatrist/self-help guru named Dr. Scotty.

This is a real oddity of a film, that’s for sure, and it deals with the phobias and illogical fears of Amanda, the main character. The sequences in which we see Amanda’s anxieties in play are disturbing in a few ways, especially with just how some of those fears manifest.
