Every indulgence is at hand, from fresh-from-Japan sushi to British-style high tea to steakhouses brimming with wagyu beef. An all-star list of celebrity chefs guides the Strip’s resort restaurants —topping the starry roster are Nobu Matsuhisa (Nobu), Gordon Ramsay (Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen), Thomas Keller (Bouchon Bistro), Guy Savoy (Restaurant Guy Savoy), Wolfgang Puck, Martha Stewart (The Bedford by Martha Stewart) and Jose Andres (Bazaar Meat by Jose Andres).

Diners can ping-pong from Michelin-starred experiences to chain eateries like California’s much-loved burger franchise, In-n-Out Burger (The Flamingo’s outlet is the closest to the AFM).

There’s no shortage of late night and 24-hour spots in a marked change from Santa Monica’s early-close restaurant scene. And the alcohol never stops flowing when on the casino floor.

By the conclusion of the 22nd Food Network South Beach Food & Wine Festival (Sobewff), 450 chefs had participated in 110-plus events attended by more than 60,000 food and beverage industry professionals, foodie fans, fine-dining fanatics, lovers of burgers, tacos and fried chicken, and the culinary-curious masses on the hunt for tasty bites and sips and a Guy Fieri selfie.

The wizard behind this culinary oz in the sand is Lee Brian Schrager, arguably one of the most influential people in Miami’s food scene as the founder of Sobewff and chief communications officer and senior vice president of social responsibility for Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits, the largest liquor distributor in the United States.

Every winter, he makes magic happen in the Magic City as the event has transformed into being as much about culinary television, book and endorsement deals and celebrity chef sightings as it is about wine and food.

The sixth episode of “MasterChef: Legends” turned out to be the end of the road for Matt Gagnon, and it was all thanks to his overcooked filet mignon. This 36-year-old construction worker from Cromwell, Connecticut was randomly assigned the popular cut of meat in his mystery box. He prepared his filet mignon with porcini vermouth pan sauce, Brussels sprouts and garlic mashed potatoes. Unfortunately, it was too seared on the outside and Gordon Ramsay, Aaron Sanchez, Joe Bastianich and special guest judge Michael Mina sent him packing.

“When you get presented one of the most delicious cuts anywhere on the planet, then you need to do it justice,” Gordon said after announcing the panel’s decision. “You certainly can’t overcook it and that unfortunately, is why you cooked for the last time.”

Hey, "MasterChef" fans. Tonight, July 7, 2021, another new episode of MasterChef season 11 did indeed air with judges: Gordon Ramsay, Aarón Sanchez, and Joe Bastianich, and another unlucky contestant did get eliminated when it was all said and done. Once again, they brought on another special, 4th, guest judge. It was cooking legend Michael Mina. Gordon also revealed that poor Mary Jane ended up getting sick. So, she could no longer compete in the competition. It was revealed that the contestants were tasked with a Mystery Box challenge in this episode. They had to cook whatever type of meat was presented to them in the mystery box.

Like almost every show on television, the new season of “MasterChef” was delayed in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The 10th season finale aired back in September 2019, making it more than a year since viewers last saw Gordon Ramsay crown an amateur home chef on the reality TV cooking show. (See the winners list.) The good news? Our collective patience has been worth the wait, as the program is gearing up for a special “Legends”-themed 11th season when it debuts in early summer on the Fox network.
