Eyes of Wakanda has just premiered on Disney+, and it changes everything we thought we knew about Marvel Studios' Black Panther franchise.
The series follows multiple characters throughout history as they attempt to retrieve and return powerful artefacts to the isolationist nation of Wakanda. In the finale (which is set in 1896), we're introduced to a Black Panther from 500 years in the future, played by Anika Noni Rose.
The future Queen of Wakanda has travelled back in time because Wakanda and the world have fallen to the alien Horde. She warns Prince Tafari and Kuda that the Vibranium axe they've tracked down must not be returned to her home. By leaving the axe out in the world, it will one day be stolen by Erik Killmonger, drawing T'Challa out from the shadows and ultimately leading to Wakanda revealing itself to the world.

Over the last two years, Marvel’s television slate faced a whole lot of shifting, followed by an entire revamping of its structure, and it seems to have finally found its groove. And there’s still quite a few shows on the horizon.
According to Marvel TV head Brad Winderbaum, the studio is now “thinking about television really more like traditional television” — which in some cases means multiple seasons. “Loki,” “Daredevil: Born Again” and “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” are so far the only series to get more than one, though Winderbaum offered hope for “Agatha All Along” and “Hawkeye.”
In the meantime, it’s hard for anyone to keep track of all these series in their head. So, we went ahead and compiled a list for you of every confirmed Marvel TV show currently in the works to premiere on Disney+.

This Friday, Marvel Studios/Marvel Animation releases all four episodes of Eyes of Wakanda, a Black Panther prequel series set in the McU's distant past.
While there's a lot of excitement to see the world of Wakanda expand with this story about the Hatut Zaraze, easily the most intriguing part of the show is Marvel Studios' plan to introduce a new, female Iron Fist (generations before Danny Rand inherits the mantle).
We still don't have a name for the Iron Fist who was first spotted in a new trailer and character poster released yesterday, but Jona Xiao is now confirmed to be voicing the character in Eyes of Wakanda.
The actor broke the news on Instagram, writing, "So stoked to reveal I’m playing the MCU’s 1st ever female Iron Fist! Catch Marvel's 'Eyes of Wakanda,' dropping on Disney+ August 1st!"

Following its exciting unveiling at Annecy International Animation Festival last month, Marvel Animation's Eyes of Wakanda will be available for fans to enjoy on Disney+ earlier than anticipated.
As we first reported last week, the all-new series, consisting of four episodes, will debut on August 1. Joining the official announcement are a jaw-dropping new trailer and set of character posters, one of which introduces us to the McU's first Iron Fist.
Finn Jones played Danny Rand in Netflix's Iron Fist TV series, but this marks the first time we've seen a protector of K'un-Lun on the "Sacred Timeline," a.k.a. Earth 616.
The new action-adventure series, produced in partnership with Proximity Media's Zinzi Coogler, Sev Ohanian and Kalia King, follows the adventures of brave Wakandan warriors throughout history. In this globe-trotting adventure, the heroes must carry out dangerous missions to retrieve Vibranium artefacts from the enemies of Wakanda.

Marvel's Eyes of Wakanda animated spin-off anthology series will be taking viewers back to the titular nation much sooner than expected. In an exclusive conversation with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Todd Harris confirmed that all four episodes, which were originally set to premiere on August 27, will now arrive on Disney+ on August 1. It's a big shock considering the team hasn't gotten a ton of chances to speak out about the project, and all that's been seen so far is a short teaser. Moreover, the news is a nice update to tide fans over since Marvel decided to skip San Diego Comic-Con this year.

Black Panther fans gather up, it’s time to return to Wakanda with a new and the highly anticipated animated series Eyes of Wakanda. After showcasing what fans are in for at the recent Annecy Festival. Marvel Studios has unveiled the first teaser of the four part series and its everything fans could ask for. While we all love the live-action movies that present Wakanda as the Afro futuristic nation, protected by a Black Panther, the upcoming series will take us back in time, truly.
The new teaser takes us back in time with a new protector, new dora milaje and a Wakanda, still ahead of its time. The clip seems to be similar to what was presented by showrunner Todd Harris during Annecy fest that took fans back to 1260 B.C., where our hero, a disgraced Dora Milaje warrior is tasked with retrieving stolen Vibranium artifacts. There have been some notable actors to play Gambit in X-Men media but how do they rank?
When Gambit debuted in the comics in 1990, he stood out nicely. The Cajun thief had a sneaky side and a mysterious past, but captivated readers with his slick accent, style, and mutant power to charge objects (usually playing cards) with kinetic energy to explode. Star Wars franchise star John Boyega is ready to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While he was initially unsure who he should play in the shared universe, a fan helped him realize who he'd be perfect for.
During a chat with Josh Horowitz at C2E2 (via Agents of Fandom), Boyega was asked by a fan if there was anyone he'd be interested in playing in the MCU. The actor shared that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige once asked him that question too, and he didn't have an answer for the studio head at the time. This prompted a fan to yell out that Boyega should play Bishop in the X-Men reboot, to which the actor instantly agreed. "Oh, I'd play Bishop," he remarked.

Late last year, a rumor did the rounds that the highly-anticipated second season of X-Men '97 wouldn't premiere until 2026, and the lengthy wait has now been confirmed by Marvel's Brad Winderbaum.
"Season 2 of X-Men ‘97 is going to be in ‘26. We're working on it now," Winderbaum tells Collider. "It's exciting. That world of the ‘90s is just… Honestly, I can't believe they let me make it. I grew up at Marvel, as you know, clocked a lot of time here, and I feel like I used a lot of currency to revive this thing that I loved watching after school. So, the fact that we get to play in that universe with those actors is honestly why I went into this business in the first place."
When asked if we could expect more animated shows - and possibly a feature - to be announced soon, Winderbaum played it a little closer to the vest.

Colonel Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) is easily one of the most recognizable faces in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He led the Avengers and the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. with an open hand of direction and a clenched fist of strength. If a parent or guardian of a young Black man or woman needed an example of a comic role model, Nick Fury would no doubt be a seminal choice.

Tickets starting at $35, while VIP tickets go for $100 and can be purchased here.
Along with the panels, organizers announced that the collectible company Thrilljoy will offer a Pix box figure to every attendee.

Every day brings an onslaught of distracting news and controversies, and it's easy to forget yesterday's tragedy and simply move on to tomorrow's in a case of "disaster amnesia." This "flooding the zone," as Steve Bannon calls it, is intentionally designed to overwhelm people, so it's important to focus on the tangible problems we can all actually help. One of them is the catastrophic Los Angeles wildfires that destroyed more than 18,000 homes and structures, burned more than 57,000 acres of land, and killed at least 29 people. A new charity benefit, Multicon, is bringing together creative artists of all kinds to help raise money to rebuild homes and help people who are really in need. It's happening on Feb. 22 at The Preserve LA and you can get tickets and information here. You can find other ways to help at the bottom of the article.

A number of comic convention regulars are banding together to help victims of the Los Angeles wildfires.
On Feb. 22, names such as Kevin Smith, David Dastmalchian and Seth Green will assemble at MultiCon, taking place at The Preserve LA. There will be the normal trappings of a comic convention, including panels and autograph signings, but with a twist: fans can donate money to get autographs and selfies with talent.
Others attending include Rob Liefeld, Jackie Tohn, Daniel Logan, Yuri Lowenthal, Tara Platt, Isaac Robinson Smith, Monique Coleman and Kaycee Stroh. More will be announced as the date gets near.
Proceeds benefit United Way of Greater Los Angeles.
“Everyone knows someone whose life was turned upside down from the wildfires. We have planned this event with Multihouse to not only raise funds to help those in need, but to also provide an opportunity for people to start the healing process,” said Larry Bond,...

Marvel Animation has two four-episode TV shows heading our way this year: Eyes of Wakanda and Marvel Zombies. The former promises to tell the stories of brave Wakandan warriors throughout history in a globe-trotting adventure meant to expand the Black Panther franchise.
The focus will be on a group called the Hatut Zaraze, with each episode showing them setting out to retrieve Vibranium artefacts from Wakanda's enemies.
Marvel Television boss describes the group "like Wakanda's CIA" and adds, "They often have to venture out to regain stolen Vibranium, but they also have to keep secrets well-hidden so that Wakanda can ward off invaders and stay safe. The Hatut Zaraze are challenged in different ways to stay loyal to Wakanda as they discover the rest of the world around them."
According to showrunner Todd Harris, animation was the only place to tell such a far-reaching story.

‘Eyes of Wakanda’ is an exciting new four-episode animated series coming to Disney+ on August 6, 2025. The show explores the rich history of Wakanda, focusing on the brave warriors who have protected it through the ages. The series follows the Hatut Zaraze, an elite group of Wakandan operatives, as they go on dangerous missions to recover stolen Vibranium artifacts from the kingdom’s enemies.
Showrunner Todd Harris shared his excitement, saying, “This has been a long time coming. The story has been stewing for a long time in my head. I’m a big believer in what Wakanda represents to mankind as a place that’s untethered by expansion. It has drawn a line — a line it won’t cross and it won’t let anybody else cross.”
Describing the Hatut Zaraze, Winderbaum explained, “Think of them like Wakanda’s CIA. They often have to venture out to reclaim stolen Vibranium,...

2024 has been a complicated year for superhero fans. While it was dubbed as "the worst year for comic book movies" in over two decades, Marvel Cinematic Universe streaming options finally seemed to figure out how to stand on their own two feet. For Marvel in particular, it has been a year of high highs and very low lows.
From the comics to their streaming series, the company has made some brilliant moves in the last year. This was much needed after last year's series of flops. But there were also some major parts of the overall Marvel universe that we could have done without.
Here, we break down the four best decisions and moments from Marvel in 2024, along with three that never should have happened.
(L-r): Bishop (voiced by Isaac Robinson-Smith), Cyclops (voiced by Ray Chase), Magneto (voiced by Matthew Waterson), and Morph (voiced by Jp Karliak) in Marvel Animation's X-men '97.

Marvel Animation has shared new details and stills for two of its most highly anticipated TV shows, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and Eyes of Wakanda.
The former, according to the official plot synopsis, "is an animated series that follows Peter Parker on his way to becoming a hero, with a journey unlike we've ever seen and a style that celebrates the character’s early comic book roots."
We also have a confirmed cast list: Hudson Thames, Colman Domingo, Eugene Byrd, Grace Song, Zeno Robinson, Hugh Dancy, and Charlie Cox. No character details are provided, though we've heard that Thames is Spider-Man, Domingo is Norman Osborn and, well, Cox is obviously returning as Daredevil.
As for Dancy, rumour has it the Hannibal star is playing Doctor Octopus. That's a fantastic casting decision and one we're sure many of you would like to see carry over into live-action.
More has been revealed about Eyes of Wakanda,...

For the mutants in the Marvel Universe, the “X” once represented hope and unity. Two lines, crossing together. Inspired by the dream of Charles Xavier of mutantkind and mankind coexisting, the X-Men reinforced this, incorporating the letter into their name as if to say “We will protect the futures of man and mutant alike, no compromise.”
It was a hopeful dream, born of good and evil ideas that represented parallels to our world, such as the fight for civil rights. This was no more apparent than how Xavier and rival Magneto compared to real-life civil rights leaders such as Martin Luther King Jr and Malcolm X.
But this is a different time. This is a different era.

Back in March, the surprising news broke that Marvel Studios/Disney had fired X-Men '97 showrunner Beau DeMayo shortly before the animated revival show's world premiere.
Since then, the internet has been rife with rumors and speculation about what might have led to DeMayo's dismissal, and last month, Marvel finally released a statement on the matter.
"Mr. DeMayo was terminated in March 2024 following an internal investigation. Given the egregious nature of the findings, we severed ties with him immediately and he has no further affiliation with Marvel."
Though no specific details were revealed, we have since heard that DeMayo was terminated for sending lewd photos to members of his staff, and there have been further reports of him being physically and sexually inappropriate with several of his colleagues.
DeMayo has denied this, suggesting that his firing was simply due to homophobia, and claiming that he was stripped of his X-Men '97...

Beau DeMayo was fired as X-Men '97 showrunner back in March prior to the show's world premiere, but he had already completed work on the scripts for the second season of the acclaimed animated revival series.
Now, Marvel Studios has hired a new scribe to replace him for the in-development season 3, with Deadline reporting that Matthew Chauncey, who has previously worked on episodes of What If...? and Ms. Marvel, will succeed DeMayo as head writer on X-Men '97.
Chauncey will work alongside director Jake Castorena, with original '90s series EPs Larry Houston and Eric and Julia Lewald remaining on board as consulting producers.
Exact season 2 plot details are still under wraps, but during a recent interview with Discussing Film, Castorena was asked if they intend to hold on to the '90s aesthetic, and if he anticipates the show taking influence from later comic book runs for the second season.

X-Men '97 star Lenore Zann teased what fans can expect from Rogue in the highly-anticipated next season of the animated Disney+ revival. Zanna has been voicing the fan-favorite X-Men since the original run of X-Men: The Animated Series, which lasted for five seasons from 1992-1997.

Despite being fired as X-Men '97 showrunner (the details are still sketchy) shortly before the series premiered on Disney+, Beau DeMayo has remained active on social media, sharing intriguing insights into the development of the animated revival show and revealing some of his key influences.
DeMayo has previously explained how the iconic "Superman takes flight" sequence from Zack Snyder's Man of Steel inspired a similar moment from episode 6 featuring Storm regaining her powers, and has now revealed that a different scene may have "subconsciously influenced" Rogue attacking the villainous Bastion in the recent season finale.
This was yet another standout moment for Rogue, who unleashed the full extent of her power while channelling the pain and rage she felt after losing Gambit in the Genosha massacre
I was likely subconsciously influenced by this when writing the #xmen97 finale beat of Rogue punching Bastion. That’s not Superman hammering Zod.

X-Men '97 was a big hit with critics right from the start, but the Disney+ revival series has now become the highest-rated Marvel Studios project - live-action or animated, big or small screen - in the 16-year history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
With more reviews now counted for last Wednesday's season finale, X-Men '97 has reached a perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. This takes it past Marvel's previous top-rated Disney+ show, Ms. Marvel (98%), and movie, Black Panther (96%), to become the most positively-reviewed MCU project of all time on the popular aggregator site.

Exclusive: The finale of X-Men ’97 has set a promising track record for Disney+.
The episode, which debuted on May 15, saw 3.5M views globally in its first five days on the streaming platform. That makes it the most-viewed full-length animation series finale since Season 1 of What If…?, the Walt Disney Company says.
According to Disney, viewership had been growing consistently over the four episodes leading to the finale.
X-Men ’97 premiered in March with 4M views collectively across the first two episodes in their first five days on the platform.
The exact breakdown of viewership for each episode is unclear, but regardless it does indicate a strong, growing interest for the animated series, since the finale alone was nearly able to match the audience of the first two episodes in the same time frame.
As an added bonus, Disney also says that viewership for the original 1992 X-Men animated series has doubled since X-Men ’97 premiered.

After an exciting, often shocking run of episodes, the season 1 finale of X-Men '97 hits Disney+ next Wednesday, and (former) showrunner Beau DeMayo has shared some "homework" for fans who might want a cryptic hint about what to expect from "Tolerance is Extinction - Part 3."
Spoilers for last week's episode and (potentially) Wednesday's instalment follow.

This episode of the beloved sci-fi series saw the crew of the Enterprise caught in a time-loop, with the ship being destroyed over and over again, and Picard, Riker, Data and co. having to figure out how to reset the anomaly.
Does this suggest that the X-Men will find themselves in a similar situation? "Tolerance is Extinction - Part 2" certainly left the team in dire straits, with Jean Grey killed(?) by a Mr. Sinister-controlled Cable, and Wolverine's Adamantium...

There's only two more episodes of X-Men '97 to go, and Marvel Studios has released a clip from tomorrow's penultimate season 1 chapter, "Tolerance is Extinction - Part 2."
The preview finds our mutant heroes suiting-up in new costumes for their impending battle with Bastion and his forces.
The outfits are a mixture of the team's classic looks, and the costumes they wore in the pages of The Uncanny X-Men. The clip also sees Jubilee burn Roberto DaCosta's business card, so Sunspot must have decided not to join the fight.
Former showrunner Beau DeMayo hinted at the costume change when he shared the unused pilot for Pryde of the X-Men earlier today.
DeMayo was also asked if he's ever heard any talk of adding Kitty Pryde/Shadowcat to the X-Men '97 roster.
"I haven’t, but my suspicion is Jubilee and Kitty slightly compete in terms of their age and Pov on the team.

"Magneto was right..."
Former X-Men '97 showrunner Beau DeMayo has taken to social media to share a "homework assignment" for fans that may want a better idea of what to expect from the middle chapter in the three-part season finale, which airs on Disney+ next Wednesday.
DeMayo posted the cover to 1993's Uncanny X-Men #304, which marked the 30th anniversary celebration of the iconic mutant heroes, and the third chapter in the "Fatal Attractions" storyline.
Spoilers for Tolerance is Extinction - Part 1 and (possibly) Part 2 follow.
Though a few significant events occur in this issue that could inform the episode, we'd say it will most likely draw influence from Magneto's arc. Towards the end of Tolerance is Extinction - Part 1, Dr. Valerie Cooper frees Magnus from Bastion's prison, and the Master of Magnetism flies to one of the northern magnetic pole to manipulate Earth's magnetic field, using his powers to wipe...

It’s easy to forget about the X-Men in a world where the Avengers have dominated the box office for over a decade. Despite both teams being introduced to the world with their comic books in 1963, the Avengers always seemed to edge ahead in popular culture. ‘Avengers: Endgame’ is the second highest grossing movie of all time with $2.7 billion, and ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ is the closest X-Men film to that success with $746 million.
The debate over which team is better may never end, but ‘X-Men ‘97’ provides a strong argument for fans on the mutants’ side. The ten-episode Disney+ series picks up right after the events of ‘X-Men: The Animated Series,’ which ran from 1992 to 1997. Episodes release weekly, and the first three are streaming now.
