Emil Nava knows a thing or two about directing music videos, having helmed nearly 100 genre titles for blockbuster artists and their record labels. This honed expertise guides the aesthetic fabric of “Snorkeling” (2025), a free-form narrative feature that cracks open the shell of young, troubled love, framed through the lens of addiction. Even the most cynical minds will feel compelled and moved by this deeply personal film, as Nava pours everything into a story that bares the souls of those trapped in a noxious cycle that is often difficult to break.
A new street drug, Troxy, is all the rage among the youth, as this highly addictive hallucinogen offers a beautiful escape, a break from the mundanities of the world. Teenager Michael (Daniel Zolghadri) initially sticks to smoking pot with his friend, but a prolonged infatuation with Jameson (Kristine Froseth) intrigues him to inhale Troxy and everything it has to offer.

Hollywood icon Terry Crews says he's hopeful Everybody Still Hates Chriswill stay on the air for at least 20 years.
Per Deadline, the returning Everybody Hates Chris star said of the animated revival series, "To do it again animated, we can go forever. That's the plan." Crews added, "Let’s get some of that Family Guy, Simpsons kinda stuff. I want that 20-year longevity on that show."
Crews originally portrayed the Rock family patriarch Julius on Everybody Hates Chris, a live-action, semi-autobiographical sitcom created by comedy legend Chris Rock and loosely based on his own childhood experiences. Everybody Hates Chris also starred Tichina Arnold as Rochelle Rock, Chris' mother, Tequan Richmond as Chris' younger brother, Imani Hakim as Chris' spoiled younger sister Tonya, and Tyler James Williams as a young Chris Rock, while Rock himself provided voice-over narration for the series. In 2009, Everybody Hates Chris came to a close after 88 episodes across 4 seasons.

In the wide theatre of television, where memories are painted over and remade, Everybody Still Hates Chris’ transition from live-action to animation unfolds like a bizarre dream—a depiction of nostalgia refracted through the lens of current ridiculousness.
Here, the essence of a bygone age is distilled into vibrant colours, but the shadows of its past linger, provoking a reckoning with the complexities of identity and belonging. The narrative opens in Brooklyn, 1987, where Chris Rock’s recognizable voice serves not just as a guide but also as a spectral presence, a reminder of the difficulties experienced by a young child navigating the dangerous waters of adolescence in a world that is often unsympathetic to his struggles.
Like the original, the animated sequel grapples with the existential weight of Chris’s experience as he confronts the ghosts of his past failures—a poignant metaphor of which is the Ged test that haunts him.

After years of Rochelle Rock (Tichina Arnold) threatening to slap her son Chris, then played by Tyler James Williams, into the middle of next week/last night/another nationality/or any other random idiom whenever he acted out on the Upn/CW sitcom Everybody Hates Chris, the matriarch of the Rock family has finally made good on her promise. In Comedy Central‘s Everybody Still Hates Chris trailer, we join Chris Rock for a hilarious look at his awkward teens and all the confusion that helped shape one of the most recognized comedians in the game.

The latter days of Upn, before it merged with The WB to become The CW, weren’t marked by many critical hits, but Everybody Hates Chris was one of them. The titular Chris was Chris Rock, who narrated the single-camera comedy about his life, starting when he turned 13, moved with his parents from New York housing projects to the Brooklyn neighborhood Bed-Stuy, and started attending a better school, far away in an all-white neighborhood. The show wasn’t coy about its influences: its title was a play on that of another long-running sitcom with a standup comic at its center, and the device of a sitcom narrator commenting on scenes of his childhood from later in life had been done decades earlier on The Wonder Years. When the time came for Everybody Hates Chris to end its run, it stole from the best, with a final scene directly inspired by...

One of the biggest cliffhanger endings in television history has finally been resolved 15 years later with the upcoming release of Everybody Still Hates Chris. Chris Rock headlines the voice cast of animated sequel Everybody Still Hates Chris, and here are the details.
Chris Rock attained superstardom following his second HBO stand-up special Bring The Pain in 1996. Hollywood beckoned, and he took supporting roles in the likes of Lethal Weapon 4 and Nurse Betty, as well as writing and directing feature films Down To Earth and Head Of State. After the much publicized incident at the Oscars two years ago, Rock released Netflix special Selective Outrage and co-starred in civil rights drama Rustin.
In 2005, autobiographical sitcom Everybody Hates Chris premiered on television. Broadcast on Channel 5 in the UK, the show portrays a semi-fictionalized version of Rock’s childhood. Tyler James Williams portrayed a teenage Rock, alongside Terry Crews as father Julius, Tichina Arnold as mother Rochelle, Tequan Richmond as younger brother Drew, Imani Hakim as younger sister Tonya and Vincent Martella as Rock’s school friend Greg.

DreamWorks Animation has delivered a Halloween treat: gateway horror series “Fright Krewe” has been renewed for a second season.
Look for the supernatural war brewing in New Orleans to continue when Season 2 comes to Hulu and Peacock in 2024.
“Fright Krewe” is Created and Executive Produced by Eli Roth & James Frey. The series is also Executive Produced by Joanna Lewis and Kristine Songco.
In the 10-episode series, ” An ancient prophecy and a Voodoo Queen put misfit teens in charge of saving New Orleans from the biggest demonic threat it’s faced in almost two centuries. But, honestly? Saving the world might be easier than becoming friends.”
The first season of 10 episodes recently debuted on Hulu and Peacock on October 2. In my review, I wrote that the inaugural season “offers enough supernatural charm, heart, and whimsy to endear Soleil and her friends to viewers, hoping to see their ascension to full hero in the future.

Fright Crewe isn't the first all-ages horror story that Eli Roth has ever played with. While 2018’s The House with a Clock in Its Walls felt like Roth's take on a children's fable, Fright Crewe (which he created and executive produced with I Am Number Four author James Frey) takes more cues from the teenage supernatural genre -- at times operating like a fusion of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Power Rangers. Executive produced by Joanna Lewis and Kristine Songco, the series may not be breaking new ground, but Fright Crewe's colorful and creepy take on the premise delivers a fun show for older kids.
Fright Crewe focuses on five teenagers in New Orleans: outcast Soleil (voiced by Sydney Mikayala), her former best friend turned popular girl Missy (Grace Lu), Missy's dim-witted boyfriend Stanley (Chester Rushing), Vodou-obsessed Pat (Terrence Little Gardenhigh) and the quiet Maybe (Tim Johnson Jr.). The show has a colorful-yet-gothic animation style and combines heartwarming and terrifying storytelling, appealing to both younger viewers and horror enthusiasts. The creators aimed to authentically depict voodoo religion in a respectful manner and hope for the show's success to continue as a TV series and book series, ultimately leaving it in the hands of the viewers.

The historic city of New Orleans also happens to be one of the most haunted and rich in supernatural folklore. That makes it the perfect setting for “Fright Krewe,” an animated gateway horror series from creators/executive producers Eli Roth and James Frey. The 10-episode inaugural season charms for its adolescent spin on Voodoo, folklore, and a demonic ancient prophecy that’s never quite as scary as high school.
Soleil (Sydney Mikayla) loves New Orleans for its open embrace of all things spooky. That love also means she’s a bit of an outsider at school. Soleil is comfortable as a loner, but that changes when an ancient prophecy gets triggered by the awakening of a dormant demon. Soleil, along with fellow peers Maybe (Tim Johnson Jr.), Missy (Grace Lu), Stanley (Chester Rushing), and Pat (Terrence Little Gardenhigh), is tasked by Loa spirits with the job of saving the city.

Eli Roth is looking to make 2023 a prolific year for horror, at least on his terms. In addition to the release of Thanksgiving – which we’ve been waiting to see for more than 15 years now –he is also behind the upcoming animated series Fright Krewe.
