A new street drug, Troxy, is all the rage among the youth, as this highly addictive hallucinogen offers a beautiful escape, a break from the mundanities of the world. Teenager Michael (Daniel Zolghadri) initially sticks to smoking pot with his friend, but a prolonged infatuation with Jameson (Kristine Froseth) intrigues him to inhale Troxy and everything it has to offer.

Exclusive: Buffalo 8 has set a July 25 digital release for Emil Nava’s coming-of-age drama, Snorkeling, whose producers include filmmaker David Ayer and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones. You can see a first trailer above.

The film marks the feature debut of Nava, one of the world’s most well-known music video directors and a five MTV VMA winner, who has worked with stars including Rihanna, Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa, Calvin Harris, Post Malone and more.

Comedy Central has set a Sept. 25 premiere date for Everybody Still Hates Chris, an animated series based on the Upn/CW sitcom Everybody Hates Chris. The cable network has also released a first look at the animated Rock family (which is at the top of this page).

As with the live-action comedy, which ran from 2005-09, Everybody Still Hates Chris will feature Rock narrating stories from his life growing up in Brooklyn. Tichina Arnold and Terry Crews will reprise their roles as Rochelle and Julius, Chris’ parents. Tim Johnson Jr. will play the young Chris, and Ozioma Akagha Terrence Little Gardenhigh will voice his younger siblings, Tonya and Drew. Gunnar Sizemore will play Greg, Chris’ only friend at school.

“I’m very excited to introduce the world to another funny side of my childhood,” said Rock, who also executive produces the series.

Several main cast members have just been confirmed to return for the Everybody Hates Chris revival. Starring Chris Rock, the original sitcom centered around a Black teenager who is trying to function in an all-white '80s school district and an unstable family. In addition to Rock, the original series featured a leading cast including Terry Crews, Tichina Arnold, Tequan Richmond, Imani Hakim, Tyler James Williams, and Vincent Martella. The series ran for four seasons from 2005 to 2009, an an animated revival of Everybody Hates Chris was recently announced.

Expect to hear some familiar voices on “Everybody Still Hates Chris,” Comedy Central’s upcoming animated take on the hit 2000s live action comedy “Everybody Hates Chris.” That includes star and executive producer Chris Rock, who narrated the original series and will do the same in the new version.

Also back are original stars Terry Crews and Tichina Arnold, who played Chris’ parents in the original series and will voice them in the animated edition. New cast members include Tim Johnson Jr., Ozioma Akagha, Terrence Little Gardenhigh and Gunnar Sizemore.

“Everybody Still Hates Chris” was first announced in August 2022. CBS Studios, Chris Rock Enterprises and 3 Arts Entertainment are behind the half-hour animated series, which premieres on Comedy Central later this year. (It will also air on Paramount+ at a later date.)

Just announced, Yorgos Lanthimos’ awards darling “Poor Things” will make its streaming premiere on the platform this month after a 90-day theatrical window and three days before this year’s Academy Awards where the absurdist comedy is nominated for 11 statuettes, including Best Picture. Other film favorites getting added to the library in March include “Scarface,” “The Wrestler,” and “My Cousin Vinny.”

The animated horror series “Fright Krewe” has been renewed for Season 2 at Hulu and Peacock, Variety has learned exclusively.

Fright Crewe isn't the first all-ages horror story that Eli Roth has ever played with. While 2018’s The House with a Clock in Its Walls felt like Roth's take on a children's fable, Fright Crewe (which he created and executive produced with I Am Number Four author James Frey) takes more cues from the teenage supernatural genre -- at times operating like a fusion of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Power Rangers. Eli Roth is looking to make 2023 a prolific year for horror, at least on his terms. In addition to the release of Thanksgiving – which we’ve been waiting to see for more than 15 years now –he is also behind the upcoming animated series Fright Krewe. Now, we have a trailer for that DreamWorks production.

While there is blood, voodoo, the undead, and more in the trailer, that Fright Krewe is an animated series and comes from the company that brought us Shrek and that little boy fishing from the moon shows that Eli Roth is ready to broaden his horror horizons. Tari Wariebi directed We Were Meant To, set in a reality where “Black men have wings and their first flight is a rite of passage.” The film stars Tim Johnson Jr. The Grand Prix Award qualifies the short for Oscar consideration. Also qualifying for the Oscars are Misan Harriman’s The After, which won Best Live Action Short, Rita Basulto’s Humo (Smoke), winner of the Best Animation Award, and Elisa Gambino’s Every Day After, winner of Best Documentary Short.

The coming-of-age series focuses on a roller skating team in Chicago who are trying to hone their skills.
