Paranormal thriller to get UK premiere at Raindance Film Festival this week.

High Octane Pictures has acquired international rights to the Steven Grayhm paranormal thriller The Secret Of Sinchanee from Dallas Buyers Club executive producer Joe Newcomb ahead of the film’s day-and-date US release next month.

It will launch in the US through Vertical Entertainment and receives its UK premiere at Raindance Film Festival on Thursday (October 28), the day before its official UK release.

The directorial debut of brothers Justin and Christian Long (who also co-write) hinges on a pedophilia joke. Let’s get that out in the open because you’re either the type of person who can chalk it up to “good humor” and carry on or the type who checks the calendar, realizes it is indeed 2021, and decides to spend their time on anything else. It’s not like Lady of the Manor consciously deals with the gag beyond an ill-advised decision to make a callback like it’s no big deal either. The Longs put their plot in motion on its back, push it aside to make room for a 1990s-era douchebag and multiple fart jokes (the latter do deliver some legitimately good laughs), and ultimately revive it as a parting gift.

Four Netflix titles will be released on Blu-ray through the Criterion Collection — Martin Scorsese’s “The Irishman,” Noah Baumbach’s “Marriage Story,” documentary “American Factory” and Mati Diop’s “Atlantics.”

The streaming service had announced last year that Alfonso Cuaron’s “Roma” would be the first Netflix film to receive a home video debut via the Criterion Collection. Criterion specializes in licensing high-profile films and selling them to film aficionados.

Markos And The Travelers Cast Their Spell

But first, let's go back. After Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) are kidnaped by the Travelers, Damon (Ian Sommerhalder) has resorted to the one thing he does best: torture. Caroline (Candice Accola) walks in on him questioning a passenger living inside the body of a friendly banker. They want to know where the Travelers took Stefan and Elena. The banker tells him that it doesn’t matter if he ever finds Markos (Raffi Barsoumian), what they started can’t be stopped.

Indeed, we cut to Elena and Stefan lying weak and being slowly drained of blood. Apparently Markos needed more blood than they could give, as he force-fed Elena and Stefan just enough...

Well, that certainly got real, didn't it? I'll admit I came into the episode a little late because I was talking to Daniel Gillies about "The Originals" season finale, so anything that happened in the first 13 minutes I'll have to revisit later. But I'm pretty convinced that the most shocking thing that could have happened was saved for the last two minutes of the show -- Stefan's death at Julian's hands. Yeah, death. As in he ripped out his damn heart. Looks like Enzo has a new buddy in the rapidly shrinking Other Side! * Okay, in those thirteen minutes I did miss a lot. Damon strapped on his hero hair, Liv and Luke discussed the folly of becoming friends with the doppelgangers they need to kill, and Stefan pushes Elena toward Damon. Again. The scenes between the two exes are easy and comfortable -- two old friends. I know, I know,...

At the Travelers compound, Tyler (Michael Trevino) wakes up in his own body, having seemingly taken back control of himself from Julian. Maria (Tamara Austin) tells him that Markos (Raffi Barsoumian) is planning on casting the spell with the blood of the doppelgangers today, sending Tyler into a rage and he shifts.

Over at the Salvatore house, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) enlisted Luke (Chris Brochu) to cast a locator spell to find Enzo (Michael Malarkey), but Luke is having no luck. Stefan (Paul Wesley) interrupts and manages to steer Damon away from discovering that Enzo is, in fact, dead, and that Stefan killed him.
