Othello
Opening night: March 23, 2025
Venue: Broadway’s Barrymore Theatre
Written by: William Shakespeare
Directed by: Kenny Leon
Cast: Denzel Washington, Jake Gyllenhaal, Molly Osborne, Andrew Burnap, Anthony Michael Lopez, Daniel Pearce, Kimber Elayne Sprawl, Neal Bledsoe, Julee Cerda, Ezra Knight, Gene Gillette, Rob Heaps, and William Connell, Ty Fanning, Ben Graney, Daniel Reece, Christina Sajous, Greg Wood, with swing Abiola Obatolu.
Running time: 2 hr 35 min (with intermission)
Deadline’s takeaway: Othello, director Kenny Leon’s new Broadway staging of one of Shakespeare’s greatest tragedies starring two of our greatest actors – Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal – in two of the Bard’s best roles doesn’t take too long to recover from an odd misstep: the projection of words onto a back wall suggesting the time is The Near Future. The modern-dress production – a practice that’s become so common among stagings of Shakespeare over recent decades that the disclaimer is anything but necessary.

The Night Agent season 2 episode 7, “Tilt,” opens with another flashback. Man, the writers love an episode-opening flashback in this season, don’t they?
This time, it’s when Solomon Vega (Berto Colon) meets Jacob Monroe (Louis Herthum). Jacob is pulled over on the side of the road waiting for a toy truck when resident nice guy, Solomon, arrives to help wait it out. Solomon reveals that his sister lost her legs in a hit-and-run accident and the police never found him.
After going their separate ways, Solomon finds an envelope on his car with the identity of the person who hit and injured his sister. It’s obviously from Jacob, and there’s a job offer, too, and that’s how their partnership begins.
Peter interrogates Solomon Vega
At a safe house where they are holding Solomon, Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) and Catherine Weaver (Amanda Warren) discuss what’s next...

Editor’s Note: The following post contains spoilers for “The Night Agent” Season 2.
“The Night Agent” Season 2 ends with Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) in a precarious position — but it’s not the first time he (or his family) has been there.
Shawn Ryan’s Netflix series released another 10 episodes on January 23, with Season 3 already confirmed. That announcement was enough to guarantee an open ending, but Season 2 still wraps up its central arcs pretty neatly. But how exactly did it weave together a formidable dictator, intelligence broker, Iranian intelligence, and a Presidential candidate? We break it all down below.
The Attack
The nerve-racking finale opens with Peter and everyone else converging on the U.N., which is being evacuated to assess a threat in the Hvac system. Very few people know that the threat is K.X., the chemical agent that Rose (Luciane Buchanon) helped Dr. Cole (Jay Karnes) to produce...

Following a flashback to Noor back home in Iran months ago, reeling from the arrest of her friend, she meets Peter and Rose in the present day for the first time. Peter wants Noor to find out what's in the ambassador's briefcase and make copies in exchange for her family's safety in the United States.
Noor explains the party coming up at Abbas' residence, where the trio concoct a plan to sneak a peek in the ambassador's briefcase. It seems like a low-stakes heist to pull off, but the stakes couldn't be higher with how much danger they are putting Peter, and especially Noor, in to get this information undetected.

Willa Fitzgerald played the secretive Emma Lawson in season 6 of Royal Pains, and the actor has portrayed several similar characters in both TV and film. Emma is Evan (Paulo Costanzo) and Hank Lawson's (Mark Feuerstein) half-sibling who is used to lying about her identity and background. The character adds riveting layers to the series and fits right into the affluent Hamptons world where Hank works as a doctor after he loses his New York City emergency room position. The comedy was fairly well-received and also stars Brooke D'Orsay, who is known for starring in Hallmark holiday films such as A Godwink Christmas: Second Chance, First Love.
The same year as her 2014 role in Royal Pains, Willa Fitzgerald played Jenny in one episode of The Following. Shortly afterward, she portrayed the 20-year-old Claire Underwood on House of Cards in two season 6 episodes. The actor's career has followed a similar trajectory...

Netflix is parting ways with two of its freshman dramas.
The streaming service canceled Partner Track and The Imperfects.
Partner Track launched on August 26 but failed to garner much traction.
The series followed Ingrid Yun (Arden Cho), a 1st generation Korean American and the first lawyer in her family, who experiences the trials and tribulations of excelling at the prestigious (but old school) law firm, Parsons Valentine.
Bradley Gibson (Power Book II: Ghost), Alexandra Turshen (Ray Donovan), Dominic Sherwood (Shadowhunters), and Rob Heaps (Good Girls) also starred.
The cast was rounded out by Nolan Gerard Funk (The Flight Attendant), Matthew Rauch (Banshee), and Roby Attal (The Haunting of Bly Manor).
Unfortunately, the series ended on a big cliffhanger, meaning it joins the ranks of Netflix's other one-and-done series that failed to get conclusions.
Also canceled is The Imperfects.
